Can't make calls, send texts, or connect to internet

Hi all,
The topic heading says it all!
Since this lunchtime, I have been unable to make calls, send text messages or access the internet (unless it is on wi-fi).
I have restored the iPhone setting and am unsure what to do next. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

When you restored the iPhone, did you set it up as a new phone? If not, prior to trying another restore, you might want to try resetting the network settings.
To reset network settings, navigate to Settings > General > Reset.
Some other good troubleshooting steps to try:

On your iPhone, what does your signal strength display? Do you have an "E" icon or "3G" icon at the top? Have you contacted AT&T to see if there are any current outages in your area, or to troubleshoot your wireless account?

    You must either be in a location with public wifi or have a mobile hotspot via a wireless provider.  You do not have to have an iPhone.  I have an android phone that allows me to connect up to 5 devices on 3g or 10 devices on 4g.  There are also portable hotspots available that you can purchase from wireless providers that are stand alone hotspots.  Both require a data plan.

    I called before I went and asked if everything would be OK and even bought a bundle that I can't use.

    Welcome to the EE Community!
    If you have been a customer for over 6 months you can enable this by logging in to My Account.
    Once logged in > Click your Device > Scroll down to Manage this device > Click Usage Controls > Click Allow on Call Abroad and Premium Rate.
    If this is not an option let me know if you are a Pay Monthly or Pay as you Go customer and if you are on EE, T-Mobile or Orange.

    i bought the phone from someone who lives in my village, there is no error code, when apple did a diagnostic on the phone they said it was running perfect. when you say carrier locked what exactly do you mean as i put a brand new orange sim in the phone and everything seems fine but the sim dosnt seem to activate so i tried it in my unlocked 4s and i got missed calls and txt's that id sent to it while it was in the 4, when i try ring it in the 4 it says sorry calls are currently not being connected to this number then goes to orange answerphone

    you can't make calls, but if its supported, you can use facetime. another alternative is skype, but you wont be able to make actual phone calls from your ipad

    To clarify for anyone who is still having any problems doing this.
    1. Unlock your phone with the carrier ( I know the process will work if it is jail broken but I am assuming you dont want to void the warranty on your phone) NOTE: even if you purchased the phone outright at Wal-Mart it is still locked to ATT so you will have to unlock the phone.  If it's already unlocked skip to step 2.  This works and will work even if you update the phone.

    2. Get a T- mobile SIM. Even if you don't want the service, if you feign interest, they will send you one for free or 99cents. If you need it now you can get one at a T-mobile store too.

  • Galaxy S4 will not make or receive calls or texts while connected to home wifi?

    Recently, My Galaxy S4 will not make or receive calls or texts while connected to my home WIFI. The status bar WIFI icon is highlighted and the Connection Bar icon has 0 bars. When I check the WIFI connection in "settings" the status is connected and shows very strong strength. Any time I try to make a call or send a text I get a "no network error message" and basically I am dead in the water as far as cell phone use is concerned. My S4 is my primary phone for home and business use and is very inconvenient when I am missing calls, etc. I have done a phone reset and removed SIM Card as well as a rest. Please advise.

        jlrwillis, I know this would concern me just the same and we definitely want to figure this out for you. How long has this been going on? Since you started experiencing the issue have there been any changes to the device? Software updates, application downloads, or damage to the device? If WiFi is off while at home do you see that you are connected to cellular service? Are you able to make a call that way?

  • Can't make call but can receive call and send or receive msg

    I can't make call with my iPhone 3gs 16G ios 6.0.1 but can receive call, surf web, send&receive msg. I restored it to its original setting but problem has not been solved. Also, I changed my sim card and used another sim with another service provider but i can't make call yet. I have Viber  on it too.
    Please let me know how can i fix this problem.

Also, do you have access to the EE online account service? If you're on Twitter, you can tweet them @EE or if you can use another phone, you can dial EE Customer Service on +44 7953 966 250. The call will be charged the standard rate for where you are.

  • Phone cannot make calls or texts

    I'm hopeing somebody will be able to help me with an issue I'm having with my phone.
    I successfully activated my phone on Friday ( 3 days ago ).. the cell service worked great on Saturday.. I was able to make calls and texts.. However since Sunday, the network no longer seems to function.
    1. Whenever I send a text message it doesn't go through
    2. When I try to make a phone call it automatically connects me to a Verizon operator saying to use a calling card or something.
    Friends and Family report that when they try to call me they get a disconnected message / text messages do not go through.
    I just became a Verizon user on Friday after switching from AT&t (7 years with them)

    I had the same problem on Saturday, and I stopped into a Verizon kiosk at the mall.  The guy at the counter simply checked to see that I was properly set to the correct device on his computer and after he did so, he dialed *228 on my phone and followed the instructions.  I haven't had any issues since.  My only difference, is that I switched from the iPhone 4 to the 4S, but have alwasy been a Verizon customer.  But as far as the problem goes, It sounds identical to mine in every other sense.  I'd stop into a see  verizon person if you can.

    I upgraded to iOS5 on my iphone 3gs and I am having major problems connecting to the 3g network. I can't make or recieve calls or sms, or log on to the internet over the 3g network. wifi works fine, but that doesn't help with the calls or the sms, and i can't always be on wifi for my emails. the phone worked fine before the upgrade.
    i've restored the entire phone as a new phone, i've gone in to the apple store and had my phone looked at, they say there's nothing wrong with the hardware.
    i live in Canada and my carrier is Rogers - of course when I call them for help they say it must be the phone not their network. they'd rather i buy a new phone and sign another 3 year contract
    the only thing that seems to help is restoring network settings. immediately after doing that I can make calls, send and receive sms, and use the internet over 3g. but it only fixes it temporarily... after about 15 mins I'm back to the same problem. can't make or receive call etc.
    anyone else having this same problem?
    anyone know of a solution?

    After 2 hours with Apple Support, which was great, we figured out the issue. 1-800-my-iphone. When I upgraded to iOS5 and started using the iCloud, I was unaware that my previous synching settings were still set to Yahoo.com where I had been sycning wirelessly in the past. So the Apple support tech showed me that I had multiple accounts in both Notes and Contacts. I had iPhone, iCloud, yahoo, Outlook accounts and my default settings on the iphone should have all been set to icloud. Syching was occuring, but not in icloud. It took a little manual conversion of some Notes and Contacts into the icloud folders in Outlook, but now everything works and I only display and use the iCloud accounts in Notes and Contacts. Apple realizes that this is an issue for those of us that were previously using Yahoo and equivalents for wireless synching and they provded my support free. Usually they charge $27. All is well.

    I've been thinking about buying an iPhone 4s. However, the price is quite high and I found that the iPod Touch is alot cheaper and has Siri and a good camera. Could you please tell me if you can make calls and text on iPod Touch?

    Note that you can only make VOIP calls when you are connected to a wi-fi.  The iPod Touch is not a phone and cannot connect to 3G or 4G networks.

    I have an i-phone 4S. I put a new sim card in to activate it i was able to text and make calls, then I contacted my service provider to swap my old number to the new sim. Now when I turn the phone on it will recognise my network but I can't make calls or send texts. I have tried resetting and stuff, turning flight mode on and off etc but nothing works.     when you call the phone u get another tone
    some how i get voicemails though

    Hi and welcome to the forums!
    I would test the radio first,then find out if the carrier had accidentally removed the 
    correct options from your phone line.
    From the home screen, go the icon connections., click to enter, scroll down to Mobile data network
    options, Click on it, then menu key, Diagnostic test tools. Run the test. Make sure you see the Pin to PIN
    message pass, at the end of the test, the report is stored on the device, This will come in handy when you 
    talk to the carrier.
