Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Can't make Facetime calls using my  iMAC

Recently I can not receive or make Facetime calls using my iMAC.  I can make and receive then on my iPhone.  If I make a Faectime call using my iMAC it says the person is not available to Facetime OR it makes the connection but immediately says "call failed".  If someone Facetimes me, my phone rings but not my iMAC.

The Apple article below may help.

  • Handoff-Can make calls on Mac but cannot receive

Handoff worked at first, but after a while something happened and I can no longer receive calls on my MacPro (Late 2013) or my MacBook Pro (mid 2012), using iPhone 5S. I can make calls fine, but when calls come in, it makes no sound on the MacPro screen & there is no dialog box for me to answer.

    Hello MarkCutler,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like the Mac is not receiving calls. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

    2) signed in on the same Apple ID both on Mac, Mac FaceTime, iphon6 and iphone6 FaceTime
    3) enabled Cellular calls on iPhone and from mac
    4) Handoff turned on, on both devices
    5) Restarted everything more than twice
    6) firewall allows connections
But STILL CANT MAKE CALLS or RECEIVE CALLS FROM MAC..... its says "iPhone Not Available, Your iPhone and Mac must be on the same Wi-Fi network"
    Anyone knows whats going on???

Call your carrier, my daughter's phone stopped working one Saturday night and it turned out our AT&T account had been hacked by someone somewhere  in the US at a Walmart.  They bought a new phone, upgrading from her phone knocking out her number and sim card.  AT&T told her to go to phone store Sunday morning and they gave her new phone.  We followed through with the theft report.  About a weel later the Visa we pay the phone bill with was attempted to be used at a phone store in Sacremento.
Anyway, your carrier will restore service if it nots working for any reason.

  • Can transfer files to remote Intel Mac but can't observe, control etc. Help

There are five Macs, 3 are PPC and 2 Intel.
All computers are running 10.4.8 and have vers. 3.1 of ARD
I can add them all to "all computers". I can observe-control all the PPC's, no problem with them.
The Intels (both MacMini's) will accept my login name and password, allow me to restart them, copy files to them BUT NOT allow me to observe-control them.
There is no firewall on their end except for the built-in Apple software one.
I thought I configured each of the computers identically.
    I have a G5 tower.
    Any ideas?

  • IMessage not getting messages on mac but I receive them on my iPod

I get messages on my iPod so I know people reply but when I look on my mac iMessage I don't have the messages. Same account everything its like my mac isn't receiving push notifications. Is there anyway to "reboot" iMessage on mac. I quit and open. I've signed out and signed back in on Accounts but nothing seems to work.
    Thankyou for your help.

    Hi,
Can you Send from the Mac ?
Do the Contacts names go red every time you try them in the 'to Spot to Start a conversation ?  (Not Registered message)
Or do you get an alert under the text you just sent that read "Not Delivered"
After that check the Contacts app on both are syncing.
    NOTE.
    com.apple.ichat.StatusMessages.plist  only contains this info
It is the info in this drop down
This side has nothing to do with the iMessages accounts.
The same menu appears in the Menu Bar Drop down (if you display it) and the Messages > My Status item.
You could try deleting com.apple.imagent.plist as this holds all the accounts that Login in Messages and FaceTime and may give it an suitable "restart"

  • I can't make a call using skype to go number

when I dial it - there is voice message saying - "the number is vacant, please call your own directory inquire service for further information".
what I am doing wrong? How should I use it? Should I call it through the country code or plain?

    Hello,
You must always prefix your dial string with the international country access code (+1 for USA, +44 for UK etc.).
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

  • Can place calls and texts but not receive them.

I can call others and send text messages but, when someone sends me a text I don't receive it and when they call it goes straigt to my voicemail. I went to the reception page where it shows the signal strength number at the top and it showed it was a good signal.

Have you spoken to your carrier ? It sounds like the phone isn't set up correctly.

  • Can't download free iWork on Mac but can on iPad

I bought a new iPad Air and was able to download the iWork apps for free no problem. I can also download them on my iPhone. I've tried to get them onto my iMac (early 2009) from the App store and it doesn't work, it still shows the full price instead of just Download. I have Mavericks installed, is there anything else i need to do? I'm definately using the same Apple ID.

Actually I found another thread that answers my question. They're only available for iOS not Mac

  • Why can I not receive calls on FaceTime but can make them?

I can make calls on FaceTime but cannot receive them. I"m told that when I'm called it rings but I do not hear it. I am able to make calls that connect with no issues. Why is this happening?

    Hey jodimb,
Thanks for the question. To troubleshoot this issue, we’ll need to isolate if it originates on your end or the caller’s end. See the section titled “Troubleshooting FaceTime for Mac” in this resource:

    No, you can't.
But you can call by Voip apps - not only Skype, but also Viber, Rebtel, Truphone, Smartgroschen, Nimbuzz and Fring.
Some of these apps gives you free top up (for example Smartgroschen: 0,50 EUR) at start so you can test it without any costs!
