Can't make color corrections

Hey everyone,
Upgraded Final Cut Pro yesterday, and for some reason, I can't make color corrections to my clips anymore as the color options are not showing up in my inspector anymore. Am I missing something? It's alway been there, and I can't seem to find it in the menu options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Premiere pro can't fast color correct and deinterlace on GPU

I recently posted saying that Premiere Pro could not succcessfully deinterlace a timeline that had footage with different field orders. Since then, I have done some more tests and have realised that the actual issue is that Premiere pro can not deinterlace footage that has a fast color correct effect on it. I replicated the same scenario on other footage and another machine with a different GPU and the same issue exists. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this or am i going to have  to export an intermediate for each step? Cheers

    OK.
Next try checking Maximum Render Quality.  (It'll force some things back to the CPU, including scaling and deinterlacing.)

  • Can't see color correction until render

whenever i add like "fast color corrector" or "three way color corrector" the entire video goes black. i have to render each and everytime i make changes to view what i actually did. is there anyway to fix this?

I'm using Adobe CS6. I just got it today.
The footage file is a .MOV (shot with my Nikon D5100).
All i did was drag the video in the program, draged it to the workspace then draged one of the color correction presets to the file and the in the "program area" went black. Once i hit the Enter key, it will show the differnce, as i make a change the video will go straight to black again.
I'm lost and don't know what to do!

  • Can I make MANUAL corrections to my Contacts on iPhone 4S from my computer

I put all of my Contact data from my old Nokia 6555 in Outlook & then synched Outlook to my new iPhone 4S through iTunes.
But, now I am having to make a lot of manual corrections to the Contact data on my new iPhone 4S because the Contact data did not tranfers 100% correctly in the synch process.
Is there a way for me to connect my iPhone 4S to my computer & make the numerous corrections from my computer.
I do have an iTunes account & an Apple ID.

    No.
It should be much easier and faster to make the corrections with Outlook followed by backing up the changed Outlook data before syncing the changes with your iPhone.

  • How can I make Color Tags color the whole line?!

    All,
I have been using Color Tags every since they first  appeared on the Mac. It WAS great to color code files and folder of which I now have hundreds done that way. Problem is that now Apple has done away with the easy to see, easy to use colored line and replaced it with a stupid tiny dot. How can I get my colored lines back? Why does Apple keep changing things that have worked for year into things the are HARDER to use?
    Thanks,
    Dan

"Labels" has been changed to "Tags" in Mavericks. It appears that you cannot modify the appearance of Tags in Mavericks at this point.
There have been several threads on the subject in this forum, and the some of the suggested solutions are to revert your OS back to the system you had prior to Mavericks, or investigate 3rd party software such as Pathfinder, which allow you to modify the  presentation in the finder -
    www.cocoatech.com/pathfinder/
Apple does not monitor these threads, so the only way to make sure way to make sure Apple hears your opinion on this is to give your feedback directly to Apple:

  • Print shop can't print color correctly.

    Hi there,
I work at a print shop and occasionally run into problems with documents being difficult to print, but this one is especially troubling.  Out print shop does not have Photoshop but rather "Photo Impact..."  I know, don't get me started.  The issue is that I have a particular customer how did some designing in Photoshop CS4 (CS something) and it looks beautiful on his macbook but different on our PC (no matter what program we use to open any of his files- TIFF, PNG, JPG, etc). When printing to our Xerox Docucolor 252 the color is real dark and way less vivid/bright.
I tried the file on my home computer (PC with CS4) and it again looks great.  When I print it on my home printer (Canon ip6700d) the printed colors are much closer to the screen even though I get an error telling me the printer is a non-postscript printer and so it will ignore some of the document properties.  This leads me to believe that since the Xerox is a postscript enabled (I think) printer it is using data I know nothing about to darken and dirty the image.  This is way outside of my knowledge and I would love to figure this out.
We have tried converting the image both to CMYK and RGB and have played around with the different color profiles, sRGB, Adobe RGBxxx etc. with very suble changes but nothing acceptable.  I think we are to the point where the customer would be ok to start from scratch but if he doesn't know what to do differently I think we'll be right back here again.
Any suggestions?  I'm frustrated and desperate to figure this out!
    Thank for any ideas,
    -Stephen

  • I can't do color correction. Is this because I have the FCPX trial?

When I click the arrow next to "Correction 1, " nothing happens. Will it not let me do this because I just have the trial. Or is it just an error of some sort?

No. The trial copy is full functioning. A bit more info is needed for anyone to answer your question. Please post what is selected, capture screen shots, etc.

  • Color correcting more than one clip at a time

Perhaps I am missing something very elementary here... but here is my situation. I have three camera angles, each of the same concert. They are synced and ready to go, each on a separate track. Each needs color correction. I have found the color correction for each that I want. Before I slice up my clips I can very easily color correct each line separately, as the color correction applies to the whole clip. However, this takes about an hour to render because it is so much material. But since I am slicing up each track anyway to form a composite track, wouldn't it make more sense for me to slice up each track as I see fit, delete the unwanted footage, and then color correct each line before I drag them all into one composite track? That way, the color correction would just be applied to the clips that I am using, presumably taking about 1/3 the time to render. Know what I mean? So here is the question: can I select all of the clips on one line and THEN color correct just those? Or do I have to select each little clip and type in the boatload of numbers into the numeric color correction. Or is there another way all together. (Like, is there a way to SAVE the color correction values that I want and call them like "camera one" "camera two" etc... and then just apply those settings to the clips I want?)
With my sound editing program I have presets for this concert. I am able to take each piece, open it up and apply the same equalization, amplification, reverb, etc. that I did for all of the others, thus making them all sound the same. I'm sure FCE has this option for video, doesn't it?
I have 10 more pieces to do and by far this was the most time consuming part of the job. So any help would be most appreciated!
    Much thanks!

Apply the color correction to one clip and adjust as needed. Copy the clip. Select all other clips that you want to apply the filter with those settings to. Right-click on one and select Paste Attributes/Filters.

  • PSE 8: any color correction controls like RGB as in Photoshop?

I used to have Photoshop 7 and often used the RGB controls to make color corrections.
Now I have Elements 8 and I miss having RGB controls.
Is there a way in PSE 8 I can simply adjust R, G, and B individually like I've been used to?
If not, what is the closest substitute in PSE 8?

There are no channel specific correction available but host of other things you can try are:
Under Enhance Menu you have all those Auto operations to correct all automatically.
Apart from this there are Enhance->Adjust Color and under Adjust Lighting.
You can also try Adjustment layer under Layer->New Adjustment layer after creating a layer or duplicating your original one and check if it helps
    Thanks,

  • Photoshop Color Correction

I'm trying to edit 2 pictures, but because of the colors I'm having trouble correcting the color.
My first problem is a picture of a room I'm using for a real estate listing. The rooms walls are a light taupe color, the floors are an off white. When I take the picture, the floors and walls look almost the same shade, so when I try to darken or lighten the walls, I have difficulties.
Second, I have a door that has a black pattern on it. For the picture I'm trying to make the entire door look white and hide the huge black pattern. The trouble is, anytime I try to change the color of black, it won't change at all, not even lighten.
Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction. I've messed most of the color ocrrecting features of photshop and I still can't fix the problem. I've even watched 4 hour videos on color correcting :(

There are many applications, that can do CC (Color Correction, often referred to as Color Grading, or sometimes just Grading). Premiere Pro has many CC Effects, and these should be done on calibrated NTSC, or PAL, monitors, and not on the computer's monitors. One reason for this is that Premiere is not a Color Managed environment.
Adobe After Effects also has many (actually quite a few more) CC Effects, and is often used for this purpose, even if one is not using it for its normal operation - compositing.
Along with those, there are many 3rd party CC plug-ins, like Red Giant's Colorista.
Once one gets past indie films, Hollywood would use workstations designed specifically for CC, with software not commonly available to the vast majority of the public. Again, the work will be done on constantly calibrated monitors, and by skilled technicians, who do nothing else, all day long. A good starting point would be the Black Magic Da Vinci system, but this really only gets one's foot in the door.
To get a handle on CC for Video, I recommend The Arit and Technique of Digital Color Correction, Hullfish.

  • Color Correction Rendering

    Hi Guys,
I'm working with some DVCPRO HD 720p footage. I drop it into the timeline and it plays fine without rendering. However when I go on to make color corrections it has to render the entire clip. Now forgive me if this is nothing new to people but just wanted to get clarification. I thought because I was using the Easy Setup for the footage I captured, I wouldn't need to render color correction as I thought this was in Real Time.
If someone could clarify this for me that would be great!

That's exactly the same as my settings:
Try creating a new Sequence - that will ensure the Sequence settings exactly match the Easy Setup.
Drag a clip to that - and if the problem still exists, try Trashing your Preferences.
FCP gets it’s knickers in a twist from time to time and if you trash your preferences it will often sort things out (with no harm done to your project etc etc) . . .
    Download FCP Rescue :

Once it’s downloaded, hit Backup first, then hit Trash. If the Trash does no good, hit Restore and everything's as it was. (Easy-Peasy)
FCP Rescue is freeware but there’s provision to make a donation if you wish – (it’s well worth it)

  • Photoshop Color correction and Special color Effects

Can anybody pls tell me , how they create color corrections in movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings. and all the other special color themes they create different images...

  • Multiclip Color Correction

So I have a 3 angle multiclip - I place it in the time line, play it and edit it. Now I want to color correct. The manual says I can drag a color correcter filter from the effects browser onto the timeline clip where I am offered the option of 'apply to source angle' which I do as I am told this will allow me to alter the settings for the whole of that angle each time it appears in the timeline edit. However, this is not what happens, it only effects the one piece I dragged the filter onto. Every subsequent time that angle appears it does not have the filter on it. Additionally the manual says to see filters rendered to multiclip angles choose "Render Filters in Multiclip Display from the View pop up menu" - this option is not in the View pop up menu.....
    any ideas?

This probably isn't the norm. But, I've been color correcting and when I have numerous pieces in the same scene that can use the same color correction I just click on filters and copy all. This copies all the filters and then just go down the line and copy into each sequence. For me it goes very fast. If you're just using Color Correction, in the upper left corner are two arrows facing each direction, if you click the first in either direction it copies that CC to the next clip. If you hit the second it goes two clips over.

  • Multicam and Color Correcting

Is there a way that I can set the color correction for one camera, and it applies to all of the cuts. When I drag the filter onto the clip it asks to apply it to the source angle, or to the multiclip. I have tried both, and it will only apply to that one clip and not all of the other clips that are from that camera. Will I have to apply to each individual clip, or is there and easier way?

    hi Rod
color correction workflow for Multiclip projects is no different than for any other FCP project
that is, correction is applied on a clip by clip basis
you can only apply a universal correction to a clip (or angle) by applying the correction to the source before you start editing with it ... thereafter, every instance of that clip will have the filter applied
of course, you can apply the color correction filter to an angle of your multiclip and every instance of that angle that you cut in will have the filter applied
(i did notice before, that even though the clip may be color corrected, the multiclip display only shows the unfiltered clip, and the filtered clip only displays correctly once it is cut into the timeline)
sure, it might be nice if there was an option somewhere to force a filter applied to a master clip (or angle) to be applied to every other instance of that clip ... but there isn't!
    good luck
