Can't Make FaceTime Calls But Can Receive Them? SOS!!! HELP

Hello,
Just had my iPad for a week now and for some strange reason i am unable to make FaceTime calls but i can receive them.
I connect through my Wi-Fi everything else seems to work great.
Also when i click on the FaceTime app and i try to make a call, i get prompt with "Mobile Data Account" which asks me to set up a data plan.
Doesn't Facetime work over Wi-Fi?
Do i have to sign up for mobile data plan just to make FaceTime calls?

Any solution to fix this problem would be helpful

FaceTime only works using wifi.

  • Microsoft lync client can make calls but not receive them

So I have our Lync server all set up…I can make outgoing calls, but I cannot receive them on my client. I have the URI fully populated with my direct line. Why can’t I receive calls?  I have this integrated with my call manager as well.

    Hi,
    1. Please try to check mediation server listening ports.
    2. Please also make sure do populate the telephone number field in AD user’s account. Please refer to the following link to verify if LineURI is set correctly.

  • Can not make FaceTime calls but receive face time calls

Can not make Face Time calls but I can receive Face Time calls

And to call the person you are trying to call, are you using his/her phone number or his/her apple id (email)?

  • Can make calls but cannot receive them!

    Hello,
I was successful in activating my iPhone. The process was completed eleven hours ago. I transferred my old cell phone number to my new iPone. Now I can make calls, but when someone calls me, my old cell phone rings. How can I fix that?
    Patrick

    Patrick:
Same here. Everything works -- except incoming calls.
The activation email I got Friday night said my old phone was set to be turned off "on or after" 9:52 pm Saturday (24 hours after my original activation). Phone started working overnight Friday night -- but as of Sunday 9:20 am EDT, incoming calls are STILL going to my old phone.
This would appear to be a network issue involving ATT and the old carrier.

  • Hi all, uc560 make calls but not receive them

I have a UC560 with VoipSwitch siptrunk logged in, I can make calls but I can not receive.
server inherits another provider, I can not access it by CCA, the system logs on but the device appears with authentication failure.
I can only access via telnet or hyperterminal.
I am no expert only ccna. would appreciate your help, thanks.

    Hi Welington,
If you are not familiar with CLI it may be best to rebuild the device via CCA so you can manage it.  Otherwise, you will not be able to receive Cisco Support either.
If you don't want to rebuild with CCA though, I would start with getting the following debugs:
    debug voice ccapi inout
    debug ccsip mess
Let me know if you have any questions.  Have a wonderful day!

  • I can make calls but not receive them on lync 2013

For some reason I can not receive calls from anybody in Conference mode or PC to PC  in some users. What type of logs can I enable on lync to verify this? I tried disabling an re-enabling again the user on lync and some users seem to work this, but
    in others not.
    Thanks for your help.

If you have deployed the Lync Monitoring Server you can look at the CDR and QOE data for calls: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=890 If you haven't
deployed the Monitoring server, it's recommended when doing voice: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398199(v=ocs.14).aspx
You can also use snooper to trace calls (4 part blog explaining): http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2012/04/16/troubleshooting-lync-server-2010-with-snooper-part-1.aspx

  • Why are my Macbook Pro and my iPad able to place calls, but not receive them?

I have a MacBook Pro late 2013 edition and last year's iPad Air as well as the iPhone 5s.  I have all of my devices completely signed in to my iCloud account and all of the appropriate boxes checked.  I can place calls using my iPad and my computer, but when my phone rings, it doesn't ring on either the iPad or my computer.  Strangely enough, my iPad used to receive phone calls a month ago, before most of this all came into play, but as already stated, it now does not.  All of my devices are updated to the latest software and I can seamlessly utilize all other handoff features between all three devices.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

  • TS3367 I can make FaceTime calls on my iPhone 4 but I can't receive them. When people FaceTime me nothing happens?

I Can make FaceTime calls on my iPhone 4 but I cannot receive them. When people FaceTime me nothing happens on my phone at all?

no what I meant was I have read through what information it gave me when I asked the question and other than checking my wifi or checking my iMessage is on or checking my number and email address was correct I didn't think that the information applied to my specific problem so that is why I asked the question? I asummed it would be something simple and silly that I am doing wrong. I have not spoken to any technicians, I am new to this site and you can probably tell I'm not that knowledgable with technology so I apologise if I have put you out, I don't feel your rudeness or your sarcasim towards me was necessary.  Don't worry I will go into an apple shop and ask instead.

  • Can't make any FaceTime calls, but can receive calls

Any advice on how to enable outgoing Facetime calls on an iPad 2.
I have set Facetime up with my Apple User ID and several people have been able to make Facetime calls to me and they work perfectly. However, if I try to initiate a Facetime call to any user, I always get the message that they are unavailable for Facetime. I have checked with each of them that I have the correct emails in my contacts that is associated with their Apple IDs and with their Facetime, but still I can't make any calls to them.
I have not found anything in the Apple support pages that is effective. I have also completely wiped the iPad back to the just out of the bax stage and set it up from scratch as a new iPad, but that didn't help at all. I have also reset all settings, tried changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8, but nothing seems to make any difference. It will not make any outgoing calls with facetime, but is happy to receive them.
Am I missing something obvious ?
It is an iPad 2 (wifi and 3G model), but doesn't have a 3G SIM installed yet. I understand Facetime doesn't use 3G, only wifi.

You might be right about the email thingy.
I have managed to overcome the problem somewhat by getting the contacts I couldn't call to Facetime me on my MacBook Pro. This leaves their contact details on the Recents list in the Facetime window. I was able to click on these contact details to make a reply call. I then added them to the Favourites list (click the > symbol next to the recent contact and click the Add to Favourites button). The email address appears the same as before, but the one in the Favourites list works.

  • Can receive Facetime calls but cannot initiate Facetime calls

    Hi,
As above, I am having trouble initiating Facetime calls even though I can receive them. I am using the latest software (4.2.1), have restored the phone and reactivated the iPhone and have reset all settings (General < Reset < Reset all settings). I have forwarded the ports specified by Apple for Facetime in my router and have UPnP enabled.
I should say that occasionally I can make a Facetime call successfully, but usually it rings indefinitely, or gets to the 'connecting' screen and then hangs indefinitely or disconnects after a while.
I only use Facetime to call my g/f and she has done the same steps to troubleshoot as me on the iPhone with the latest software/resets etc. (but I don't know anything about her router).
Is it possible I cannot make calls to her because of a problem on her side (even though she can make calls to me), or is it likely to be an issue with my connection?
    Thanks,
    Brophs

If your facetime does not work and you don't see the facetime button when you try to initiate a call try texting yourself. Sometimes your phone company has deactivated your text messaging when you hook up your new Iphone 4. Phone them and get it reactivated and it will work. You need three things to activate facetime. 1. Cell phone service (naturally) 2. connection to a router (wifi) and 3. text messaging that works. A text message is sent to complete the connection.
Have a great day and enjoy facetime.

  • On my iPod touch, I can receive FaceTime calls but can't initiate them. Thoughts?

On my iPod touch, I can receive FaceTime calls but can't initiate them. Thoughts?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why can I make FaceTime calls from my iPhone but not from my Mac?

Facetime on my Mac sets up properly, links to my contacts, and appears to make calls (i.e., it "rings"). But it doesn't actually connect to the other person. However, I can make Facetime calls on my phone. Huh?
