Can't Make iPod Updater 2006-01-10 Inactive Within Software Update

Hello team,
I've been setting up a graphite CRT iMac at my school here with OS X Jaguar, and in running various Software Update installs, I've discovered the "flaw" I listed in the subject line. Namely, that no matter how many times I attempt to do so, I cannot make the iPod Updater 2006-01-10 inactive. I have literally tried to do so about 20 times (after nearly ever other software update install/reboot), but each time I launch Software Update, the damned iPod Updater reappears in the list. Any idea what's going on here or how to prevent it from showing up anymore? Thanks a heap in advance for your feedback!

Actually, I have been able to make three other SU updates inactive (Bluetooth 1.3.3, iSight Updater 1.0.2 and iPod Driver 3.1) and they DON'T reappear each time I launch Software Update. ONLY the aforementioned iPod Updater 2006-01-10 continues to reappear, despite the repeated attempts to make it inactive. So, obviously something else is afoot here. I continue to welcome any suggestions or ideas.
Electronically yours,
Erik

I have an iPod but in general there is no software update section what should I do now

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 as your tagline suggests then can only update via your computer's iTunes, as described half-way down the page that you posted from.
    Updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
If it's a second gen iPod Touch then it only supports up to iOS 4.2.1, third gen supports up to iOS 5.1.1, 4th gen iOS 6.1.5, and the 5th gen iOS 7.0.4

  • Whenever I try to restore my iPod Touch, it starts to download a software update, even after I have downloaded the software update several times before. How do I restore my iPod without having to download the software update again and again?

It's sort of like a "catch 22"; it seems like my iPod won't restore because the software update won't install, but the software update won't install because my iPod won't restore.

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
    - Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

    - Next try the manual install method of:

Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.

Yes I have put in the correct password, its all numbers so can't get it wrong really.
It has connected before as has my iPod and that won't connect either. I have checked that they aren't on the blocked list of the wi fi. Managed to download the new version of iOS and that hasn't made a difference.
I have the wi fi plugged directly into the computer rather than the booster hub as the computer won't connect to it when its in the hub. I did get the iPad to connect to the internet when it twas in the hub but once I upgraded the iOS it won't accept the wifi password in the hub either.

  • HT5766 Where can I find the size of a download for a software update now?

    Hello,
Where can I find the size of a download for a software update now?
Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion (Mac OSX 10.8.3) this information is no longer available in software updates listing you get if you click on the Software Update menu item from the Apple menu.
I found the download size (often hundreds of megabytes for an individual update and sometimes a set of updates might amount to a few gigabytes) to be very helpful, and now that it seems no longer available (I can't even see it on the web page I came to for more information, thinking the download size would surely be specified there), it is frustrating. My current example is iTunes 11.0.3
I would greatly appreicate having this information back in the software updates listing, but since it is no longer available there, and I don't know where else to find it, if anybody can enlighten me to its whereabouts, I'd be grateful.
    Thanks and cheers!

Updating from the ipod itself is a feature of ios 5 or later.
You would need to update as always.  Turn on computer, open itunes, connect ipod.
The first gen ipod will only go to 3.1.3

  • From where can i download iPod nano 2G 1.0.2 version software?

    Hi everybody!
I searched this on the internet, with google, but i found nothing. So, knows anyone from where can i download iPod nano 2G 1.0.2 version software?
I want to downgrade my Ipod nano only because of white screen.
    Thanks!

    Hello StanGinger,
itunes does not support downgrading any ipod software, nor does Apple. White screen normally means your ipod has a hardware issue.
    Try this:
Apple - Support - iPod Troubleshooting Assistant
If that does not work, use this:
    Online Service Assistant
    Hope this helps.
    ~Julian
P.S. I dont know of any place you can download the 1.0.2 software, nor once you get it, how to get it on the iPod.

  • The 10.5.7 Leopard update does not appear on my software update?

I currently have 10.5.6 Leopard, however couple of weeks ago i read an article that Apple had release 10.5.7 update. However whenever i click software update, it says that i have no updates?
How can i get this update, or make it appear on the software update? thanks in advance.

    HI,
Go to the Apple Menu (Apple logo top left in your screen) then click Software Updates.
It's very important to read this material first before installing this update.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3397
Run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions before and after the installation.
Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility.
Tip... this update may restart your Mac several times. Do not turn the Mac off. Do not stop it in the middle of the update thinking it's crashed. It can take about 15 minutes or more. So don't panic if the computer turns off and on several times before it's finished.

  • I am trying to do the iOS 7 update on my ipad2 and the software update feature isn't there, help?

I have an ipad2 and in order to update to iOS 7 I must be able to go to the software update under setting but the feature is not there. My iTunes is also not recognizing my iPad when I connect it so I am unable to go that route either.

See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.

Updates to the 10.7.1 software update cannot be used!
Why? I have nothing to delete!
Software update cannot check for updates, because of network problems.
My network is no problem, I can open a webpage!

If it has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU, yes. Phone the Apple Store and order a download code for iMovie. If it's a Core Duo Mac, contact the Mac App Store staff and ask for an iLife 11 DVD.

  • I updated to 10.7.3 via Software Update

I updated to 10.7.3 via Software Update yesterday. Today, on visiting the App Store, it says there is an update still (to 10.7.3), not acknowledging the recent update that has been applied. Should I ignore it and wait until the next update, and do it via App Store instead? Or ignore it, and update via Software Update (as per normal)? I undestand there were some problems for some people who updated via the App Store to 10.7.3.

(Not a 'newbie, but an owner of various Macs since version OS 7.5)

I don't know if you can. But, seems you have the latest. So Apple changed it in software update also.
I went to the Apple Store to see if showed any updates for me, and it didn't. Maybe it's a glitch, but I wouldn't worry about it as long as things are working correctly.
Also opened Software Update in System Preferences and checked for installed software. It shows both the Software Updated OS update and the Combo Update I downloaded and reinstalled afterwards.

Are you trying to restore via itunes or icloud? Which ever one you're doing, try the other.
Its most important to make sure itunes is updated, any security software is disabled, and to try another usb port/cord (if using itunes on a computer)

  • Server Admin Tools 10.5.5 not within Software Update routine

    Server Admin Tools 10.5.5
    <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2667>
available as a download but not appearing within Software Update.
I find that a little odd, as it includes updates for users of Server Admin Tools 10.5.3.
Maybe the update package(s) will appear separately in due course…

Pity Apple couldn't be bothered to change the version number of the SA tool. After installation, mine still says 10.5.3. Apple's quality control over the server product line continues to deteriorate. One wonders when they'll actually either hire some additional staff to bring the product up to snuff, or abandon its advancement like the XRAID. How many folks are left on the server development team or have they all been poached for the iPhone/iPod shiny stuff?
Man, there was so much promise in the OSXS package. But it's not even half-cooked compared to the butt-ugly-but-functional alternatives. My clients aren't at all impressed with the stability nor the lack of fine-grain feature management -- and it will be a tough sell to keep them with the Fruit if Apple doesn't fix and enhance THIS cat. Waiting for 'Snow Leopard' to fix everything seems like a stalling tactic. Waiting for Godot.
