Can't make recovery media

Hey all,
My laptop is an hp dv6-3037tx
I just replaced the motherboard in my laptop after a failed BIOS flash. Now I have a new problem.
Before the motherboard was replaced I used HP Recovery Media tool to create a series of (5) DVDs to use in case I need to recover my computer. (FYI my computer is currently running fine so there is no urgency)
These DVDs worked great and I have had to recover my computer using them a couple of times in the past.
But now, ever since I installed the new motherboard, these disks do not work. When I try to boot from them I get a message saying they are for a different machine.
So I tried making a new set of disks using the HP Recovery Media Tool but I get this:
I should add:
This problem is probably due to the fact that I ordered an identical motherboard with a different HP Part Number to save myself money. I didn't expect any problems as the boards are exactly the same but I guess that is the cause?
And in case it helps:
Previous motherboard part number was 615279-001
New motherboard part number is 603642-001

HP uses what is called a bios Tattoo, the recovery program looks at this info and see's if it matches the disc, evidently it does not.
Use F1 at the start of boot, tell me what the OS and mothernboard number is, post it exactly like it is in the bios tattoo.

how can i make recovery in my computer when recovery has been deleted

    Hi,
The only way to re-create the Recovery Partition would be to reinstall the operating system using your recovery DVDs - make sure to back-up all your personal files etc first before doing this.
If you don't have these DVDs, you can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

  • Wrong part number for WT7-C16 Encore Mini? Can't order recovery media

I tried to order Recovery Media for my Encore Mini. (I wasn't able to find a USB adaptor to create my own.) I put my serial number in and then it asks for the last 4 digits of my part number. Unfortunately, it gives me PDW0EU-001, which leaves only the last three digits of the part number, 001. I tried the 3 digits and that didn't work, 4 digits didn't work (1001). That means I can't order recovery media. I tried phoning US support and it told me to order from the website. I'm stuck. Now, after my Mini tried to update to Windows 10, I can't restore the old OS, nor will it allow me to do a factory rest. Unless I get any joy, my Mini is a brick. (Someone has also mentioned elsewhere that there isn't recovery media for this product.) Any suggestions?

    Thank you, Jerry.
Stephen, can you send me a private message with your serial number? Click my name to view my profile and then click the link at the right to send me a PM.
I'll look into it for you.

  • Where can I get recovery media for Equium A100-549

I need help please, I bought an A100-549 over the internet, it did'nt come with any recovery media.
It now has a serious virus and I need to restore it. Where can I get recovery media for my laptop?
    Cheers
    perfecto

    Hi,
where did you buy it?? On Ebay? If yes then you must contact the person which sold you the machine. If you have no chance to get such recovery, then you will have to contact a
local ASP to obtain a recovery.
If you dont want to obtain a recovery, and you have a genuine Windows copy lying around, then install it, download the appropriate drivers for that machine from the toshiba website and install
    them afterwards you installed windows.

  • Can't make Recovery DVD "recording failure when writing disc 1 (20)" C500 with Vista

I keep getting this error every time I try to make recovery dvd's. I did a restore to factory condition and still  get this error. I even swapped out the DVD drive and still get the same error. Did a google search and this seems to be a common problem but didn't find any resolutions. This is a Presario C500 with Vista Basic and this is the first time I've tried to make Recovery  Discs. Thanks

Did you use high quality DVD+R media?

  • Can't Install Recovery Media To New Hard drive

To begin with, I know very little about computers as you will soon see. I have a TOSHIBA SATELLITE L650-ST3NX1 which started giving me a message from both Toshiba and Windows that I needed to back up my data because of a possible hard drive failure. I tried backing up my data to an external hard drive but that failed. (I do have a backup of my hard drive from last year).I ordered a new SSD and the Recovery Media from Toshiba. I assumed that I could just load the OS from the Recovery Media onto the new SSD but found that wouldn't work. I ran the Recovery Media on the old hard drive but it wouldn't complete. I tried erasing everything off the old hard drive but that also wouldn't complete. Now when I plug the USB Recovery Median into the computer it won't recognize it. I think I've probably done just about everything wrong that I could. Am I out of options? Did I just waste my money on a new SSD and the Recovery Media?

So, a little more info on what's going on. I installed a new SSD, ran the Recovery Media USB, and recieved the error F3-F100-0003. Went into the Utility Setup and HDD/SDD shows NONE. I assume this means that no hard drive is being recognized. When I reinstalled the failed HDD and went back into Utility Setup, it was recognized. Can Toshiba Recovery Media be loaded onto a new HDD/SDD? I've been researching this online and it seems that quite a few people have had the same problem but it seems that no one associated with Toshiba can or wants to provide any answers. When I spoke with a Toshiba representative before purchasing the Recovery Media I was assured that I would be able to install it onto a new HDD/SDD. It seems that if Toshiba is going to sell SSD's and Recovery Media they should be informed about and support what they are selling. This is pretty frustrating and $$$.

  • X220i Can't create recovery media

I have a new X220i with a 128k SSD hard drive. I'm trying to create recovery files on an external hard drive. After clicking "ok" in all the dialog boxes, I get the message "No [sic] enough temporary disk space in the C drive, Create Recovery Media will exit now."
The C drive is 28.4 GB, but only 1.87 GB is free. Windows is taking up most of it. The "Lenovo Recovery" Q drive has 89.5 GB, with 75.8 GB free. MS Office was installed at the factory. I have not installed any other software yet. I can resize the partitions, but I think I need to create the recovery media first?

I'm sorry, carrme, as I haven't explained you clearly. I'm sure the partition sizes of your disk are not from factory. Let's compare with my 320Gb hdd - the partitions were about 1,1 (system_drv) / 310 (c) / 9 Gb (lenovo_recovery).
I think that was not your problem or mistake when you've installed ms and Lenovo updates prior of creating recovery disks.
In your case you can do the folowing:
    1. remove (temporarily) some files from drive C:. For example, the folder SWTOOLS. Lenovo sw and drivers for installation are stored here. Also, all installed Lenovo updates are stored in the folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\System Update\session. Then create Factory Recovery disks.
    or
    2. Resize partitions as you want. Then create factory recovery disks.
In order to save the OTR functionality after partitions resizing just reinstall Lenovo R&R. It'll rebuild MBR.
I think the factory image of your system (I mean the partition sizes) wasn't the same as you have now. But you don't have to worry about this.

  • Can't create recovery media -- R&R doesn't see USB dvd-r drive

I have a cheap asus usb dvd-r drive.  When I plug it in, everything's recognized by windows 7, however, when I get to the screen in create recovery media where I have to selected my device to record on, the drop down menu is blank and I can't select my USB dvd-r drive.  I have seen some other threads telling me to uninstall the driver and restart, but that hasn't worked.  Any ideas?
    x201 tablet, windows 7 32-bit

    plsfoldthx, welcome to the forum,
please do and check the following; attach the drive when the system is turned off, start the system and then enter bios (F1). Navigate to and open the startup menu and check that the drive is recognised by bios, hit F10 and then enter to save and exit. The system will restart.
Once windows has booted have another look in R&R to see if the drive is recognised.
I've always suspected that R&R calls up it's drive information from bios because hot plugging a drive has never worked for me with R&R.

  • NB200-10Z: Can't make recovery disk using TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator

    Hi Folks,
I finally got round to buying a USB DVD drive in order to create recovery discs for my NB200-10Z. I got the following:
    * Samsung SE-S084C, External USB 2.0 Slimline 8X DVD Writer, Black
I have twice tried to create a recovery disc and am now left with two trashed DVDs. The error codes in the error window are:
    Error Code: 0E01B5-26-2A040803
    Error code: 02016F-3C-00000000
The first time the burning was stopped, the second time the verify failed.
Can anyone shed light on this?

    *Short version:*
Thank you to everybody who replied.
I decided to try out the USB DVD drive on another laptop to perform a HDD backup operation...and it failed as well. Grrrr. Same DVD media (I just hadn't got round to getting new media to try).
I think I shall discount the possiblility of the NB200 being at fault, and therefore shall consider this question answered on this forum.
    *Long version:*
Well, I ended up using Virtual CD to "burn" an ISO file to HDD, and then copied that to another laptop to burn to DVD (not using the USB DVD drive, but the same DVD media type). Being the curious type I decided to perform a restore using the USB DVD drive. It got part way through installation then informs me that a CRC check had failed...argggg.
So, to cut a long story even shorter, I ended up slipstreaming the Intel storage drivers into a Win XP ISO (created from a Win XP CD I had from another previous laptop) and creating a bootable USB drive. Now I have a clean install with all the NB200 driver installed. Phew.
Actually, to think a bit more about it, I could have attempted to put the Toshiba recovery ISO onto the bootable USB drive, but I've done the clean install now anyway.
For whatever reason, I had such trouble getting the NB200 BIOS to recognise the USB DVD drive in order to change the boot order (it wasn't in the option list). This was with the DVD in the tray, and without the DVD in the tray. Some investigation required on my part, I think, to determine exactly what is going on.

  • I can't make Recovery on my notebook .... please help ?

Hello , i am trying to install OS from recovery partition i have on my notebook , but when i press F11 at start up it's show me this error  File :\Boot\BCD status 0xc0000225.  failed to boot , so what i need to fix this problem , by the way last time i installed OS from recovery partition i mentioed before i made shrink to C partition to get more space on it .
     notebook 7030se , win 7 64bit

Restart the computer and before Windows launch, press F10.  When a new screen comes up, press F9 to reset the BIOS back to default condition.  If this does not work, upon restarting the computer, press F2 to run the self diagnostic tests(hard drive, startup, memory...)  Good luck!
I am having problem with my labtop too.  It has a missing .DLL file and I don't have the system recovery disc.  The F11 recovery option did not fix the problem.

  • Used W510's recovery media

I bought an used W510 laptop. It seems the seller didn't recover it back to original state and only installed a fresh Win7Pro because there is no ThinkVantage software or other software installed. But I am still want to make a recovery media in case I need it in the future.
In my case, should I install ThinkVantage to make recovery media? (it may not make sense because some original software may not be installed )
Or should I use ghost to make an image for future use?
    Thanks,

It depends on what you have. You could have an OEM OS, a retail OS or a pirated copy. Go to the control panel and select "system", and check activation status. If you have an OEM key (it will say OEM somewhere in the key), a ghost reinstall will automatically activate, and you can choose to buy recovery disks by calling support. If you have a retail copy with a COA and a key, you can simply reinstall a retail copy and use your key to activate. If you have a pirated copy, I suggest buying recovery media.
