Can't minimize window in CS5?

When I double click on the title bar of an open file in cs5 it does not minimize. It works fine with all other apps and the finder. I looked in CS5 preference folder but I did not see a setting for this?
Thanks,
Steve

it's a sad, sad bug.

  • Can't minimize windows

    After things game:
http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=18411 I can not minimize windows anymore. In some apps the minimize button is dimmed and in some it isn't, but not even the windows with a minimize button can be minimized.
I've had this problem before with OS X 10.4, but thought the problem was gone.

I read in another thread that you can solve this problem by trashing the Finder preferences.
    1) Go to ~/Library/Preferences.
    2) Drag the file named com.apple.finder.plist to your Trash.
    3) Empty the Trash.
    4) Restart your Mac.
    5) You should be able to minimize windows again.

  • Can not minimize window in Safari after upgrade to Yosemite

Since upgrading to this ******** OS Yosemite it has made my DVD player unworkable
Now I can not minimize a window in Safari. Control M or Control H does not work The middle minimize button is greyed out?
Is there a  fix for this? Upgrading to Yosemite has been the worse mistake I have made since ditching PC's and buying a Mac 3 years ago.

In addition to Eric's response, if you are in full screen mode you can hover your mouse near the upper left corner and click on the green button (to dismiss full screen mode), then the yellow button (to minimize).
    I hope this helps.

  • Sometimes Can't minimize windows

I've searched the forums and didn't find anything about this, so forgive me if there are and I missed them. Lately the minimize buttons in Safari and in Finder windows are grayed out. I can't minimize anything. I can quit Safari and restart it and its fine, but then seemingly randomly grays out again. Command-M doesn't work, either does going to Window-Minimize. I can re-launch Finder or restart my computer and that fixes the finder window problems. I really have no clue what the problem is, I have the up to date upgrades from Apple. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Same here, I guess I encounter that since 10.4.5 or even earlier. After a random amount of time, the Finder Minimize Buttons get disabled; I can then relaunch the Finder and everything is fine again. Don't know about Safari since I use Camino as a browser.

  • Can't minimize windows in Finder...

Any help would be appreciated! Help: For some reason, I cannot minimize any of my windows in Finder... The minimize button is disabled on any window or application... Is it the dock that is not allowing minimization? Thanks.

Navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then log out and back in again. Or restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • Where can I download Windows PS CS5 extended?

Hi. I have PS5.1 extended on my computer but am living overseas at the moment and want to transfer the license to a new computer. Though I have my legal serial number I do not have my disks and I can't find the free trial download for 5.1 anywhere. I have found a few genuine type sites that purport to offer the 5.1 download but in every case when you click on the link you are taken to CS6. I have an educational copy of 5.1 and it would cost me a fortune to upgrade to CS6. So far my only solution seems to download a pirate copy from somewhere like Pirate Bay and then install it with my legal serial number but I am worried about doing this.
All the links I found throughout the internet, even those that purport to point to the CS5 trial, all now point to the CS6 trial and I found a post from an Adobe emloyee saying they no longer host the CS5 trial versions.
So far my only solution seems to be to download a pirated copy from somewhere like Pirate Bay and install it using my legal serial number (after deregistering my current computer). This seems highly risky. I could end up with no PS at all!
The fact that Adobe no longer host past trial versions sucks for someone in my position. After having laid out good money for a legal PS installation it forces us to go down an illegal and risky route that we would otherwise be reluctant to go (torrents from Pirate Bay).
Does anyone have a solution? If not would the Pirate Bay option be a safe one?

  • Minimize window problems in photoshop cs5

just installed master collection cs5 on my macbook pro - 17", 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo, 8Gb RAM, running Snow Leopard.
couple of problems - i can't minimize photoshop windows by double clicking on the window title bar - i can in every other program including all cs5 apps. also, when i first use a tool (brush, marquee, stamp etc), it doesn't register that i have used it until i try a second time
anyone else having similar problems? if so, did you solve it?

Um, I'd like to reboot this thread to say that Adobe didn't really fix the issue, they seem to have applied brute force. I have "double-click title bar to minimize" turned OFF in my System Preferences. It seems that Adobe's "fix" was to make "doubleclick to minimize" an uncancellable "feature" that overrides the System Preferences.
I have a Wacom and I am constantly, inadvertantly "double-clicking" the title bar.
Don't tell me to fiddle with my Wacom settings, I already have "double click distance" set to maximum. Don't go blaming Wacom for the brute force fix you've created. I do not want this "feature" at all.
Since I am pretty this won't merit an incremental update to fix this, could an Adobe employee at least verify that what I say is true, that Adobe chose to override System Preferences for "double-click title bar to minimize  window" and did not offer a radio checkbox in preferences?
Could Adobe please consider adding this to the preference pane if they don't plan on coding it to be consistent with System Preferences?

  • Can't see list of minimized windows when I minimize windows into application

I love the Mac option to minimize windows into application icon, but recently it's behaving abnormally for me. When I minimize, for example, three Word documents into the application icon, I don't see the list of those documents when I click on the icon (they usually stack vertically in the menu, above "Options"). To see those documents, I have to click the application icon and select "show all windows".
I can't figure out what's going on, and it's driving me nuts.
What I'm seeing (I have three documents minimized into the Word application here):
What I should be seeing (This is just a screen grab from a tutorial, not my machine):
Here are my current dock preferences/settings:
I've already rebooted. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist.  Move the .plist to the trash..
    In Applications/Utilities/Terminal type
    killall Dock
Restart and test. You may have to update your dock to the way you want it.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • How can I get Windows (v7 x64) to open in Dreamweaver (CS5) if I right click it?

    Hi
How can I get Windows (v7 x64) to open in Dreamweaver (CS5) if I right click it?
None of the normal mechanisms of setting an application to be the DEFAULT application for the .HTML file type seem to work...
    Extremely irritating.

A list of various "recommended applications" but not including Dreamweaver. It's not in the list of Other Applications either. And if I browse for it, my selection of dreamweaver.exe is flatly ignored without message.

  • How can i eliminate window minimize to dock animation

    How can I:
    1. eliminate all animations when window minimizes or maximizes from the dock (create blink in, blink out)
    2. speed up animation of window to/from dock to instantaneous

open System Preferences -> Dock. Change 'Minimize windows using' from Genie effect to Scale effect,
That doesn't eliminate the animation. It only changes the type or effect.
    untick 'Animate opening applications'.
That just stops the icon bouncing in the Dock when an application is launching. Again, it has no effect on the window animation.
    Regards.

  • Can't Close/Minimize Windows

Frequently (but not always) I can't close or minimize windows. If I drag the window slightly (in any direction), suddenly the close/minimize buttons become responsive. The problem happens in all Apps. Any thoughts on what this could be? (Running Mavericks 10.9.3 on a MacBook Air 13'')

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Can't minimize all windows with alt, c, M

Is this option, command and letter M?  It doesn't do anything.  What am I doing wrong?

As far as I know there is no global minimize command that will affect all open windows for all programs, all at the same time.
Is it possible that the person at the Apple Store was showing that a bunch of open windows for folders, i.e. Finder windows, could all be minimized at once? Since Finder is considered a program for things like this, then Command-Option-M will minimize all open folder windows (provided Finder is the active app) simultaneously.
Hiding windows is a different thing.
When a program's windows are hidden, they seem to disappear but are not minimized to the Dock. The basic command for this is Command-H. Pressing that combo will hide the windows for the current active app and switch active status to the next open app.
The Option key and clicking can be used to do this. For example, with one or more windows open in TextEdit, Option-click on the Desktop - all of TextEdit's windows will disappear (get hidden) and the active program will switch to Finder.
HIdden windows can be made to re-appear by clicking the icon for the program in the Dock, thus switching the 'active' status to that program.
You can hide all windows except for a chosen active program in one action - with that program frontmost (active), press Command-Option-H. You can accomplish the same effect by holding down Command-Option and clicking in a window for the app whose windows you want to remain visible - windows for all other open programs will be hidden.

  • How Can I Minimize a VI to an Icon on the Windows System Tray?

How Can I Minimize a VI to an Icon on the Windows System Tray?

There are some examples available online, using both ActiveX and .NET. Try searching for "tray icon".
It's been a while since I looked at it, but if memory serves, the structures needed to load an icon through the Win32 API are actually quite complicated and not as simple as that article makes them out to be.
