Can't modify a Bex query, it is tied to a released transport

Hello BW expert,
I could not change a existing Bex query. It is always tied to a released transport.
I have tested I can create a new BEx query and transport it to QA without errors.
The issue is when I opened an existing query, it has a error.
Bex transport request xxxxx is not available or not suitable.
double click the errors, below is the details.
No request has been set up as the standard transport request for BEx objects.
The (set up) request 'DB2K901272' (for the package '' ) has already been released.
The (set up) request 'DB2K901272' (for the package '' ) is not of the type 'transportable change request'.
I have released transport 901272  before opening the query, I don’t know why this query is still tied to it.
I tried to create a new BEx transport (DB2K901277) and opened the query again, but an error is still there.
Third, I tried to collect all query elements for the query in the transport connection, and  put them in a standard transport, then I opened the query, but it is still tied to the same released transport.
I never see an error like this before. Is there something we could change in the setting so the query is always in changeable mode?
Thanks in advance!
Jun

Hello Vinod,
I tried, still have the same issue.
I collect the query by query elment, select all the elements and the query in the transport connection, then click the the BEx transport. I see a Bex transport created, but no elements are included in the transport, it is a empty transport request. could this be the issue?
Thank you very much!

    Hi,
I installed successfully SAP Netweaver ABAP Trial Version. But I can't find the Bex Query Designer. I thought it was part of SAP Netweaver ?
How can I get it ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Bex and the other tools such as analyzer and web app.designer come with SAP gui installation (while installing SAP gui you should select BW-addon ) and you can find  the query designer under the following path on your computer .C:Program FilesSAPFrontEndBwwdbrlog.exe

  • Before modifying a BEx query in Dev, how to verify that it is the same as the one in Prod?

I am asked to modify a BObj report that is based on a BEx query. I need to add new restricted key figures to the BEx query to do the mods needed. I found that the BEx in prod is different than the one in Dev. It seems that, over time, some changes are made in Dev but never transported to Prod.
My dilemma is, how do I revert the BEx in Dev to the same version as in Prod? Can I transport the BEx from Prod to Dev? Someone told me that transports should NEVER go from Prod to Dev - I am new to SAP.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
we can do Reverse Transport Mechanization transport form PRD to DEV
but this scenario some times will go wrong.
directly your are doing changes in PRD system ? don't do
what ever changes you can do only in DEV system only then do transport to PRD.
collect one more TR form DEV including changes do transport form dev to prd.
    Thanks,
    Phani.

  • Can we call a bex query from result of another bex query?

we have a requirement wherein client has asked us for bex reports
    in a BEX report
multiple queries needs to be executed and the querues are dependent on their parent query
    i.e.
result of query 1 works as input for query 2 and result of query 2 works as input for query 3..
    is it possible??
    kindly help.

    Hi,
(If RRI is not exactly what you need)
Eg. for a scenario where we want to display all positions of documents where at least one position in a document fits given cretaria. You can try it using query/prequery construction.
    In short:
    Create two querries:
In the first query you set the criteria (the output will be a list of document nos that fits that criteria). For peformance reasons keep this query small.
In the second query give restriction on document number (replacement path with the first query as a parameter).

  • Can I precalculate a BEx query and email the results as an attachment?

We are on BW 3.5, currently pulling data from R/3 4.6C (but upgrading to ECC 6.0 in mid-July). I have been successful (once, once I was able to talk my email administrator into letting a  .js file through) in sending an email, but the results are in HTML in the body of the email.  I need to send the results as an Excel spreadsheet attachment.  From all of the SAP documentation I've read, it seems this should be possible, but I haven't been able to make it happen. It seems to ignore the setting in the Broadcast scheduling screen. I've tried it with both "Execute" and time-based scheduling.
Many thanks for any documentation, pointers, or magic tricks.

    Hi,
This can be done via Information Broadcasting.

  • Calculated Key Figures Corrupted in a BEX Query

    Hello SDN's,
We are facing an weird issue in BEX Query. As part of Enhancing the query, We have created a new CKF and added in the Columns for the required CKF. It prompted for a Transport request and saved the Query elements for more than hour. Now the Query is throwing an Error messages where in more than some 30 CKF's got corrupted. When i check the CKF definition for all the corrupted key figures there is not Formula or Calculation.
Below is the message which we can see in the BEX query for Corrupted Calculate Key Figure.
    Diagnosis
Element ' XXX ' cannot be analyzed by the analytic engine without a definition.
    System Response
Without a valid definition, the element will be ignored by the analytic engine.
    Procedure
Provide a valid definition for element 'XXX'.
Could anyone please help me to retrieve query back to normal ???. Your are inputs are appreciated
    Thanks,
    HA

yo could try rsrt in bw and try to regenrate the query thats all i got. .otherwise always make a copy before you start working on a query. if it still is coruupted then you will have to recrate it. if the query is in your bwq maybe the basis can do a transport( not recomended)back. good luck..

  • Bex Query in ABAP report

Can i call a BEx query in ABAP report and display in ALV grid. if so please give me the syntax.
    Thanks
    Akila.R

    Look at the FM "RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ".
With this you can read data into a internal table of your program.
With this FM, you can do a selective read and select only the key figures and characteristics that you wish to read in your ABAP.
I am not ure, if you can call a BEx report in your ABAP. But with what I mentioned here, you can acheive what you want.

  • Bex Query Broadcasting Problem

    HI ,
My Enterprise Portal is working fine in sense that it is showing me the accurate result of query
But when i am trying to broadcast it , it gives me the error saying OPERATION TIME OUT in the browser.

  • Hierarchy Level value displayed in BEx Query

Is there a way to display the Hierarchy Level value (0, 1, 2, etc...) associated with each hierarchy level in BEx Query as a characteristic?
we are currently using the Crystal Reports function HierarchyLevel(GroupingLevel(GL Account Node id)) to display the level of the node (0, 1, 2, etc...).  Is there something similar to this in BEx Query.
We would like to use this Level value to do groupings in Crystal Reports.  When we try to create a Group, we can only create the groups on fields that are brought over in the BEx Query results.
    Thanks --

    Hi ,
Hierarchy level can be defined in Bex query as well.
In the query property there is option where you can say hierarchy active for that particular object.
Also you can define level upto which it can be active in initial display say 3 level
Also when you want to drill down further level 4,5 you can right click and select that particular level say 4 or 5 or 6.
If you want to display hierarchy flat there is no option in BW then to right code, but I heard in crystal report it will automatically display in fl;at version as well  means
    Level 0 level 1   ......KF1 KF2  etc.
    Thanks and regards

  • BEx query publishing to Web

    Hi All,
I developed a BEx query , I want to publish that in Web.Can anybody give steps for that how can we link the BEx query to Web.How to publish? What is the difference between Web Template and attaching a BEx query to Web?
    Pls clarify me
    SM

    Hi,
    Two possiblities:
    1. The simple one: click on the green checkmark in your Bex Query Designer. Then your query is published in the web using the default template (i think its name is 0ANALYZER).
    2. The more complicated (but more fun):
Use the Web Application Designer (WAD).
Create a new Web template in WAD
The drag a table component into the template
and last, link between the component and your query.
Save your template and execute it, and voila, your query is in the web (in a web template that you designed!).
    Assign points if this helps,

  • Changing BEx query - Lock against External Changes

I have BEx query in DEV system.
It was transported to QA system.
Now some changes were made in Cube, Like adding infoobjects.
These infoobjects are to be available in BEX query.
But when the query is opened the following message is getting display
    Lock Against External Changes...
BEx transport request 'DV1E756532' is not available or not suitable
    After checking details of message
    Diagnosis
There are the following possible causes:
No request has been set up as the standard transport request for BEx objects.
The (set up) request 'WD1K917646' (for the package '' ) has already been released.
The (set up) request 'WD1K917646' (for the package '' ) is not of the type 'transportable change request'.
    System Response
The request WD1K917646 can not be used to record changes to BEx objects (queries or Excel workbooks). The changes made to objects you are editing will not be logged.
    Procedure
If you want to record changes to BEx objects, set up an open transportable change request as the transport request for BEx objects. (If the package '' is not empty, set up a request for this package).
Inform your system administrator of your actions, or enter a new, targeted transport request in the Administrator Workbench in the transport connection by using the 'BEx' pushbutton (Create Transport Requests for BEx).
    Procedure for System Administration
How to make changes to query.
    Step by Step help needed.

    Hi,
I'm also receiving similar error 'BEx transport request is not available or not suitable' when I open a query in development SYSDEV to edit.
This query has been transported to SYSQA but now I need to make some changes so I opened it in  SYSDEV but it doesnt allow me to edit.
Do I need to follow the below steps to be able to edit the query in SYSDEV and once done I need to transport the changes/query to QA for validation.
    In SYSDEV or SYSQA ?
Step 1) Go to RSA1 Tcode.
Step 2) Click on "Transport Connection" function on the left side pane.
Step 3) Make sure that Grouping is "Only Necessary Objects".
Step 4) Make sure that Collection mode is "Collect Automatically".
Step 5) Collect your query by double clicking on "Selected Objects" which is under "Query Elements"->"Query"->"Selected Objects".
Step 6) On the Right side pane, take a Right Click on the "Query Elements" node and choose "Transport all below".
Note: Make sure that you have not selected any other object other than the objects which are under "Query Elements".
Step 7) Click on the "Transport Objects" ( Truck Icon ) button. Is it Transport Bex button here ?
Step 8) Create a new "Transport Request".
Also below are the steps I used to transport from SYSDEV to SYSQA initially.
Step 8) Create a new "Transport Request".
    Please advice
    Thank you.

  • Modifying the text "Result" and "Overall Result" in a BEx query output

    Hi,
    1) Is it possible to modify the text "Result", "Overall Result" which appears in the sub-total and grand total lines of BEx query output? I do not see any related setting the properties area of the object in BEx Query designer. Do I have to write some VB code or can I do something in Customer Exits?
Also my client wants that this text need to be made dynamic such as "Sub-Total for the month of Jan 2006".
I can use work book option and change the texts manually. But this is not meeting my clients requirement.
2)Is it possible to have dynamic title text for a BEx query?
We are on BW 3.5 & if any of you could provide / guidance to the above issue.
    Thanks,
    Venkatram

You will have to use VB Macros to change the text "Result" and "Overall Result", there is not settings in the query designer for the same.
You can have dynamic descriptions for queries using text variables like Expense Query for month of Jan 2006, if user selected Jan 2006.
    Thanks.
