Can't mount a folder from a windows network..

Our "IT" (outsourced) department migrated the network folders to another server and changed the filepath on the one folder I need to mount on my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.8).
I have been able to mount the new folder onto other Windows boxes succesfully, but the filepath name doesn't work. I can get to the server and mount other folders there, but they have changed the file path and I'm hitting a brick wall when I try and mount it. The error message says that my Mac can't find the original folder..
Here is the windows ORIGINAL filepath ://pcmsf01\dept
Here is the new filepath ://pcmfs02\d\dept
The dept folder is the one in question...
As I said, I can mount other folders from the new (pcmfs) server, but I really think that the new naming of the filepath is confusing the Mac
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am fairly certain that would not work for me as that is my usaul manner of mounting shares, smb:// or cif://. The enterprise servers do not automount so I commandK. Yesterday when I was troubleshooting 10.9 issues I had to have tech support unlock my account a dozen or more times. So I'm gonna give it a rest until I see an 10.9 update. In my case I don't think Mavericks is ready for enterprise/business use. I am 1 mac vs 350+ PCs.

Backing up a specified folder from a Windows partition

Hello all,
Since Time Machine seems unable to back up anything from Windows partitions I thought I could create some script that would copy the required folder from the Windows to my Mac partition thus making it accessible to Time Machine. Can you please tell me how to make a script run on schedule (say, once every day, or every time Mac OS X boots)?

First, get the movie into iTunes. Within iTunes, there is an option to convert to iPhone-compatible format. After you do that, the result can be synced to iPhone.

If you haven't already done so then download and install iTunes : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Add the songs into your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library
Connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Music - if you select that tab you can then select which of your iTunes music to sync to the iPad (it should sync to the Music app on the iPad).

We've got a bevy of test phones here and I've been able to see RSS feeds in an Exchange setup using Android (along with other folders) but no Lists that were hooked up using "Connect to Outlook" button from SharePoint.

You are viewing Mobile view of the site into your phone. If you open the same site in normal PC view i.e. the same look which you have in your computer then it will give you an option to connect to outlook.

Thanks for the suggestion but clicking on 'Connect to Outlook' from various phones doesn't seem to work. "This webpage is not available." -- I didn't really expect it to do anything as I think this was meant to be done on a computer. And then
the result is that the documents would be available in Outlook.
And then, my question kicks in: is it possible to see these files that are now in Outlook on a phone that's connected to the Exchange Server.

Short answer is now. Any app that was developed on
for Windows will not run on OSX and visa versa.
However, You can create a Windows environment on
a Mac by 2 methods. The first, create a dual boot
machine using Bootcamp and install Windows on a
seperate partion and then select which operating system
to boot into. The second is using virtual machine products
such as VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop Mac. You
basically create a virtual Windows environment that
runs along side and concurrent with OSX.
Not sure how well this second approach will work with
any CS4 app, as they tend to be quite resource intensive.

My Downloads folder has gotten on my desktop and now to remove it I have to put it in the trash and lose all my downloads. Is there something else I can do? It is already on my dock and in finder, but once I put the download folder from the desktop in the trash it removes my downloads from finder and the dock.

Open a Finder window and navigate to your User directory (it will typically have folders including Desktop, Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures). Click the arrow to the left of Desktop and you should see the Downloads folder that is currently on your desktop. Drag that Downloads folder (or the Downloads folder on your desktop -- they are the same) to the blank space in the Finder window below the other folders -- i.e., below Documents, Movies, etc.)

I can't transfer unprotected music from my Windows Media Player library

I'm tryng to transfer my unprotected wma file to itunes library. I tried importing and add file or folder from "file" in I tunes. I tried placing " My Music " file on the desktop and then drag it to itunes . I transfered the WMP library once , but lost it when consolidating libraries in itunes. It converted the files and I downloaded them to ipod nano, then lost them again. Anyway to do this without burning to CD would be great. Thanks

What format was the music in? It would be either MP3, WAV, or WMA, it could in theory but in your case unlikely be also in AAC or Apple Lossless. iTunes does not support artwork in WAV files.
When music is added to Windows Media Player from a CD, typically the album artwork is not put in the music files itself but is instead stored as separate JPEG files in the folder the music file is in, this might explain things. I have not tried WMP12 but with older versions the quality of the album artwork was very poor so getting new artwork from the iTune Store as described by zsnow would be a better choice anyway as the iTunes Store has artwork at 600x600 pixels which is (was) three times as good as WMP.
If the iTunes Store does not do all the tracks and you still need to do some, you can either look for the JPEG files I mentioned and use those, or use Google to search for images and copy and paste them in to iTunes.

No. Migration Assistant only works when using OS X on one of the computers. You would have to ask Microsoft Support.

Since I have the new iTunes (version 11.0.2), I can't sync my photos from the librarie to the iPhone 4S. Previous I haven't got any problems, but now I can't find the folder "photos" in the iPhone register (when I click on the connected iPhone).

Mine keeps doing the same thing. I have the 3g iPhone. I have an application that said it needed to be updated. I clicked update; however, it didn't complete. Now it just sits there.
The terrible thing about mine is that it makes my iPhone basically not work. It brings it to a crawl (often won't let other apps work) and constantly restarts the iPhone. I've had this happen before, and I restored everything. That helped until I did updates again. Now it seems like I will have to restore yet again! AHHHHHHHH!!!!
Is there a way to kill the installation process??? How can one app bring down the whole phone?

I just ordered a 15 inch 2.3 ghz MacBook Pro and I can't wait to get it. The only thing I am wondering is if I will have any trouble transferring all of my music from my Windows formatted iPod (8gb 3rd generation iPod Nano) to the new MacBook Pro. Should I be able to follow all the steps in this article without any problems?

In the iPod's user manual should be instructions on how to put the iPod into disk mode so that it will appear as an external hard drive. You can then copy your music to the Mac.

Can't access my iMac from a Windows 98 PC

When I was prompted for password on the PC running Win 98, I simply clicked "OK" as I had not set any user password on my iMac. However, I got the "wrong password" message and therefore failed to access my iMac from that PC.
On the PC, I could ping the iMac without problems. I can also access the PC from my iMac. I have the username on the PC that is exactly the same as the one I have enable "Windows Sharing".
Any clues on this?

I tried but without luck. The issue is, it prompts me for password and whatever I input, it says wrong password. In fact, I do not have any password set on my iMac and therefore I should be let through if I simply click the "OK" button on the password dialog without putting anything in the password field.
