Can't move font to a collection

This may have been a problem in previous OS version too (trying this in Mavericks).  I am using Font Book trying to move a font into a collection. It shows up in All Fonts, I would like to add it to a specific collection.  I have lots of other fonts on this collection. I have had these for many years.  The font is a ttf, just like some of the other fonts. Is there some permission problem?

Hey Brenden,
I read your infomration, the font shows up in the All Fonts and User connections. But I can not move/copy it to a  collection that I created.  So tonight I tried to install this same font on the iMac.  It installed in the All Fonts and User collection as expected, and also in the collection that I created (yes, it works on the iMac). For fun I tried to move/copy this font and one other to a collection I created.  This too worked.  I just can not move/copy this one font to a collection.  Is there a log file that might tell me what is going on? I see no errors.  The font works, I use it, I just can not move it to the collection I want.

  • Can I move fonts??

I always lose fonts when I move on to a new Mac OS. I would like to know if I can take all the fonts that are in /Library/Fonts and put them in Users/[me]/Library/Fonts. This way I can have them in my home folder when I backup, and won't lose them because they are in the library folder. I know not to touch any fonts in the System folder, but I just would like to move all of my fonts from Library/Fonts to my Users/Library/Fonts folder.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

I've spent an hour searching the web and reading pages, and some apple documents. Duplicates are not an issue, since I did a clean install, and just installed Office 2008, which puts the fonts in a nice folder within Fonts called Microsoft.
So I moved the microsoft folder to my users/library/fonts folder, then in the fonts folder, I created a folder called Apple, for all the fonts I had in my /library/fonts folder.
Now, when I do a home directory backup, I will have my fonts. I didn't touch the system/fonts. Right now, I have no fonts in my /library/fonts folder, they are all in my users/fonts.
I validated all the fonts, I have no duplicates, ran repair disk permissions, no problems. used cocktail to delete all font caches, etc. Restarted and have no problems.
In what I found online, there is no problem in having fonts only in your Users font folder, as long as you never touch the system/fonts.

  • Can I move my itunes collection from one computer to another?

Can I move an internal hard drive which has my itunes library (music transferred from my cd collection as well as music purchased from itunes) from one computer to another?  The second computer already has itunes on it but no sopied music from cd's.

Yes, you can move the hard drive physically from one machine to another provided you are placing it as a secondary drive in the new machine. You can connect to the transferred library by holding down shift as you start iTunes, then browsing to the relevant folder and opening the iTunes Library.itl file inside. You may however want to reorgnize the drive if you're disposing of the old machine as its system files etc. will be redunant. In this case I suggest you move the iTunes folder to the root of the drive before you connect to the library. You should also deauthorise the old machine before you dismantle it.
Ideally you should take a backup of your library before you start just in case something goes wrong. See this User Tip.for a suggested technique. Works with external drive or network shares.

  • In Lightroom mobile how can move photos within the collection????

In Lightroom mobile how can move photos within the collection????

What you can do is to move (or copy) a photo form one collection to another. This can be triggered via the top right app menu item from grid view. Same menu is available when you open up an image for editing. Hope that helps. -Guido

  • I upgraded to Lightroom 3.4 and can't move photos into collections or files

I upgraded to Lightroom 3.4 and can't move photos into collections or files

To move a photo into a collection, you point your mouse at the photo(s) (not the gray rectangle around the photo) and drag it into a collection.
You can't move a photo into a file. Perhaps you meant something else?

  • Can I move an iTunes library from Comp1 to Comp2 through Home Sharing?  What happens with the first sync?  What happens to 3rd party app data (specifically, game scores/levels)?

I need to move an iTunes library from Computer 1 to Computer 2.  Can I do this through Home Sharing, by dragging and dropping library items from one to the other?  The library consists of iTunes purchases, home shared items and music/movies from our personal collection.  Both computers have had all the accounts authorized, so I don't anticipate an issue there.  I'd like to do this so that my son's ipod is impacted as little as possible -- specifically, his game scores/levels and other 3rd party data remain intact after the 1st sync and the organization of his icons remain intact.
Is there a way to do this smoothly and easily, protecting his ipod data/organization?

Sorry, I obviously wasn't clear. If you replicate the library from Computer 1 to Computer 2 by copying it, then all will be well. I routinely sync my iPhone and iPad both at home and at work using a single library that I migrate between the two locations via an external drive which is kept up do date using SyncToy.
Backup the iPod touch on Computer 1.
Copy the entire iTunes folder from Computer 1 to Computer 2, replacing any existing iTunes folder on Computer 2.
Check that content is accessible in the migrated library. (Won't be a problem for a standard iTunes library where all the content is inside the iTunes Media folder which in turn is inside your iTunes folder).
Connect iPod touch to Computer 2.
    Sync.
In the unlikely event that something goes wrong (it won't) then you can connect the device back to Computer 1 to restore it.
Note device backups are not stored within the iTunes library and stay on the machine on which they were created. It is theorectically possible to migrate them but there isn't really any point. Once you have synced the iPod with the copy of the library on Computer 2 then Computer 2 will make its own backup of the device.

  • Can I move files from one caralog to another?

Can I move files from one caralog to another?

    No. you cannot.
This, among many other reasons, is why multiple catalogs are not recommended.
(You could import the photo into another catalog, and delete from the first catalog ... and without first using the command File->Write Tags, you will lose your tags, captions and other metdata; version sets, stacks, album/collection membership are lost in any case)

  • How can you move the objects from one server to another?

how can you move the objects from one server to another?

    Hi,
    Collecting objects for Transporting
    1. rsa1->transport connection
    2. left panel choose 'object type', middle panel choose 'infocube' and 'select objects'
    3. then choose your infocube and 'transfer'
    4. will go to right panel, choose collection mode 'manual' and grouping only 'necessary objects'
    5. after objects collection finished, create request
    6. If they are $TMP, then change the package.
    7. When you click the Save on the change package, it will prompt for transport. Here you can provide an existing open transport request number, or if you like here itself you can create a new one.
    8. You can check the request in SE09 to confirm.
    Releasing Transport Request
Lets say you are transporting from BWD to BWQ
Step 1: In BWD go to TCode SE10
Step 2: Find the request and release it (Truck Icon or option can be found by right click on request #)
Note: First release the child request and then the parent request
Steps below are to import transport (generally done by basis )
Step 1: In BWQ go to Tcode STMS
Step 2: Click on Import queue button
Step 3: Double Click on the line which says BWQ (or the system into which transport has to be imported)
Step 4: Click on refresh button
Step 5: High light the trasnport request and import it (using the truck icon)

  • HT1449 Can I move my iTunes library onto Time Capsule and share it across my devices (similar to a NAS drive)?

    Hi
Would anyone know if I can I move my iTunes library onto Time Capsule and share it across my devices (similar to a NAS drive)?
This would give me some hard drive space on my iMac and more importantly mean my iTunes library is available all the time. Although I have Home sharing I need my iMac on and if not I use iTunes on iCloud I always seem to be downloading the tracks I need.
    Current configuration / devices:
    iMac 20-inch, Mid 2007 - nearly full!
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    OSX Mavericks
    Time Capsule (1TB)
    iPad
    iPod Touch
    Apple TV
    iTunes 11.1.5 (5)
    Many thanks

What "devices" are these?  By devices I normally understand i-devices and not computers.  How many computers?
If you put the whole library on the Time Capsule (TC) you can only use it with one computer at a time because the iTunes library file can only be opened by one copy of iTunes at a time.  If you put only media on the TC but have a copy of the library files on each computer you can use media by multiple computers but you then have the headache of trying to make sure that any changes done to the collection by one computer are mirrored by the libraries on the other computers which will be more or less independent.
I hope this TC isn't also your backup drive.  When the TC drive fails (and it will someday) then your whole collection is gone.  Don't rely upon Apple to always have copies for you to download.  For one, if a distributor puylls an item then it is gone period.  Additionally, Apple only keeps media, not the actual organization that is your set of library files.  If you do this, buy another backup drive.

  • Font Book does not allow me to move fonts into categories.

I recently started using Pages to do some desktop publishing work and I decided it would help me out to make some font categories so I can find the fonts I need quickly. I set up the categories in Font Book, but after three tries in two days am about ready to pull my hair out. I can place one or two fonts into a category folder but then it stops working. I drag a single font to the folder, the plus sign shows up like it's moving but then it never shows up in that category. If I delete the category and start over, I can get one or two fonts into the folder and then it stops working again. I had them in categories on my older macbook and never had this issue.
I've tried restarting Font Book, restarting the computer and deleting the preference files. All my software is updated to the current versions. I've searched for this problem online and haven't found any help. I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice as to how to proceed. Thanks!

    Application corruption problems:
    Quit the application.
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FontBook.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist(s) from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist(s) to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this?

I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this? I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

  • Can I move files frm 9.2 to Tiger with 1-3 periods in their filenames?

I need to move big collection of images & design files that have 1-3 periods in their file names.
Can I move them from my G4 (9.2) to my Intel iMac (10.4.9) without creating problems? I mostly use Quark, Adobe/Photoshop CS3, Acrobat & Preview (but no iPhoto, iLife, iSync, etc.), and archive my images in subject folders. I WAS opening the G4 folders & deleting periods and slashes manually - but UGH - I am burnt out. I've read conflicting info on the forums. Some say NEVER. Some say Yes. Some say only if it's OSX to OSX - - not 9.2 to OSX. I'm trying to do this right, to avoid problems down the line. Can someone help with this? Thank you.
iMac Intel 24" desktop. Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)
iMac Intel 24" desktop. Mac G4 laptop   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I have used lots of files with /s and multiple periods, with no problems. Some Unix based applications may not like the /, but the file-system doesn't mind it.
    From Help in the Finder:
"You cannot use a colon (:) in the name of files and folders. Mac OS X uses this character to separate folders in pathnames.
In addition, some applications may not allow you to use slashes (/) or other characters in the names of items."
    From
    <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/mann/filenam e.ntcl.html>
"The normal Mac style names use colons as path separators. Paths may be relative or absolute, and file names may contain any character other than colon."

  • How can I move one years worth of Raw photo files to a different hard drive and perserve the edits

How can I move one years worth of raw photo files to a different hard drive (to manage space) and preserve the develope module edits and still see them in  the Library module?

The easiest situation, is where this year's worth of images is grouped physically inside one parent folder (something many people build in from the start, in any case).
If there is a parent folder on disk, but you are not currently seeing that inside LR's Folders panel, you can make this visible to LR by right-clicking on one of the folders which live immediately inside that, and selecting "show parent folder". This gives you a single "handle" by which to manipulate the whole grouping.
Then it is just a matter of moving this parent folder. It's usually as simple as dragging it from one place to another inside LR's Folders panel, however this is a little more difficult when it's a question of another drive which does not yet appear there.
So an alternative method will likely prove more straightforward: physically move the whole year folder into the other drive using your operating system's Explorer/Finder. The folder (and subfolders, and all the contained images) will change with ? icons inside LR, and it all goes "offline". This is because LR's records of where everything is, are known not to currently work (the former location is now not available). But all the edits, thumbnails, keywords, collections etc are still in place because these things are still remembered in the Catalog - and the fullsize previews are still cached also.
Then right-click on the parent folder in LR's Folders (the top folder which shows a "?") and select Update Folder Location. Then browse to the other disk and identify where this folder is now to be found. LR updates all its records and the whole grouping carries on just as before, only using a new  storage location for each image concerned.

  • Can i save a query in one package and then can i move it into another .....

can i (in bw 3.5)save a query in one package and then, can i move it into another package? if yes what is the procedure? if no, why? if yes , after moving can i see that query in one package or both? plzzzzzzzz its urgent....

    Hi Neeraja,
Yes, you can save a query in one package and then move it into another package and transport the query with new package.
    There are two ways...
    1. You can change  the package assignment from one to another with the same request and transport the objects with request assigned to the new package.
    2. You can create a new request and assign the new request to new package and transport the new request with new package assignment.
For first one, follow below process...
    Changing the assignment:
           1.      Choose  Package in the toolbar of screen area Collected Objects in RSA1 --> Transport Connection.
The Select Objects for Changing package dialog box appears.
           2.      Select the objects whose package assignment you want to change.
This procedure is especially useful for changing all collected objects, or a large number of them. For this reason, all indicators are set by default. Remove the indicators for individual objects where necessary.
Note: You can only use  Details to display the details for an individual object when this is the only object that is selected.
           3.      Choose  Copy. The Change Object Directory Entry dialog box appears.
           4.      Enter the new package.
For second one, you need to add the query in the transport organiser and assign new request and transport package and then go for transport. But this will create two requests on the same query. So, don't go for this. First step is preferable.
    Hope this helps u...
    Regards,
    KK.

  • Can I move cursor to first record without reopen it?

I want to use the same cursor in my stored procedure
for many times, but it is time expensive to open this
cursor. So can I move the cursor to the first record
when it come to the last without close and reopen this
    cursor?

You could read your data at once into a collection and then process the collection afterwards as you like:
    For an example see
