Can't move Object.

I keep getting this Error Message when i try and move something i have pasted into CS5.1.
"Can't Move the objects. The Command was Canceled" . It isn't locked. It's the only thing on
the layer ( the layer isn't locked nor the image ).

If it was created using a specific plug-in, it may carry incompatible plug-in data, even after the appearance has been expanded. If you haven't, at least try expanding the artwork. For anything beyond that you would have to take that up with the vendor or update your software to work in CS5.

Can't Move Objects, Can't Uninstall CC

I'm running Adobe CC on Mac OS X Yosemite. I've got variations on the same problem, but the main thrust is: I can't move objects.
More detailed: I booted up InDesign this morning and started working in it. All of a sudden, I couldn't move any of my objects. Can't resize them, can't drag them, nothing. So I look up the issue and this is an ongoing problem apparently. I have done the following:
• Held down Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Command before the launch screen to delete preferences (didn't work)
• Manually found the Preferences and Caches folder and renamed them (didn't work)
• Uninstalled Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, then reinstalled (didn't work)
• Restarted my computer after doing the first two (this worked for five minutes until I opened a browser window, and then the problem was back.
The next step I would've taken is uninstalling CC and all the applications, clearing the software, and reinstalling everything. Except now I'm being told I can't uninstall CC. Because it's in use. When it's not.
Look, Adobe, I like the product. But this is bulls***. I've done everything everyone on every message board has done to solve the problem, and it hasn't fixed this. I need the CC in order to maintain job performance. I also need to use the Internet at the same time. This shouldn't be hard.

Can't move objects after Pasting inside?

Using CS5.5,
I made a series of shapes like the attached one, and then I select the outer square shape and I choose to edit>paste inside the shape. I then group all of the pieces making up the shapes and I want to move it to a lower portion of my document, though when I do this the image does not come along with the shape and text.
What am I doing wrong? How should I be doing this?

Remember: The Layers panel is your friend! The Paste Inside command creates a mask, which is a special type of group. To move your image independently from its mask—in other words, to reposition it within the square—go to the Layers panel and click on the Link symbol between the thumbnails to unlink the two components. Then click on the image thumbnail to select the image, go to the canvas and start moving the image around (using the Pointer tool). After that, you'll probably want to relink the image and the mask—again, using the Layers panel—so they can be moved around the canvas as a unit.
As I said, masks are just a special type of group. You can unmask an object at any time using the Modify > Ungroup command, which will restore the original components as separate, independent objects. You can then regroup those objects into a mask by selecting them and choosing Modify > Mask > Group as Mask. This is my preferred way to create a mask. It produces the same results as Paste Inside but doesn't require cutting an object beforehand; instead, you simply stack the objects, select them, and run the command, with the top object—e.g., the square—becoming the mask to the bottom object(s)—e.g., the image.
If you have other, non-masked elements involved—like your gradient block with text—and you want to move them all as a unit, you have several options. One option is include all the elements in a single layer and use the Layers panel to select all the elements in that layer—by clicking on the layer folder/name. Another option would be to simply drag-select all the elements on the canvas before moving them. And a third option would be to group all the elements by selecting them and choosing Modify > Group. This last option makes it easy to move all the elements together on the canvas but makes it more awkward to edit the elements individually (which might require ungrouping using Modify > Ungroup), so it's probably not the best for you.
Finally, since your gradient block with text appears to be contained within the square that you're using to mask the image, you could opt to include that gradient block as part of your mask group as well. To do this, you'd simply stack the image, the gradient block, the text, and then the square on top. Then select them all, and choose Modify > Mask > Group as Mask. The square would become the mask for all three of the selected objects beneath it.

"can't move objects because they would fall off the drawing area" Why?!

Hi, I'm trying to move a pdf object exported from vectorworks and i get the following error message: "Can't move the objects. The following transformation would make some objects fall completely off the drawing area."
It's not the first time this has happened to me but I usually find a way to get around it. I tried increasing the page size, pasting it into a new bigger document, am i missing something?

The drawing area is the entire surface available for drawing, and is much larger than the artboard. There are probably objects or unlocked guides that run to the edge of the drawing area.
Unlock all objects and layers, then select all. Turn on Show Bounding Box and zoom out. The edge of the bounding box show the edge of the selected objects Explore the perimeter and delete anything at the edges that's causing the problem.

Can't move objects small distances

CS6, OS X
I can't seem to move objects in my drawing small distances..I'm used to being able to do this..must be some setting I hit, but I can't find which one it might be. I have snap to off, but this isn't behaving like snap to..it's behaving like I'm only "allowed" to move objects certain distances; any smaller and the object simply doesn't move at all..
can someone shine a light on this?

FlashKatt when you create a new Doicument such as a web document uncheck the option in the new document options dialog and it then will not be a problem for that document it is a default settings for a couple of the sandard document types that are rgb based.
Always check to see if the option is on when creting a new document.
Also be aware if you are actually creating a web document then the option is actually useful as it will prevent you from creating and aligning elements that will not work on the web as you intend.
Rememebr there is no fraction of a pixel on the web only whole pixels.

Can't move objects or text boxes in indesign CS6

I'm using a Mac (10.8.5), CS6 InDesign, and today my move tool stopped working. Any object or text box I create I can't move with the selection tool/dragging it -- they'll move with the arrows on my keyboard. I tried resetting the preferences (cmd + opt + control + shift). Any other fixes?

Hi,
I have created a project with a group of layers which all move (have transform keyframes set up).
Now I want to move the group, but when I do this and then run the animation, the position of all the transform keyframes I have set up remain in the same place.
Is there some way to move a group of objects and the location of their transform keyframes at the same time, or will I have to go through each keyframe and move them individually?

InDesign CS6, Can't Move Objects?

ID was working great one day and the next day I opened the file and I can't move any of the objects with my mouse. Reduced to using the arrow keys for now. All other programs respond normally. No layers are locked and objects are not anchored.
Windows XP SP3, InDesign CS6

Ai CS4 & CS5: Can't move objects, huge memory usage. Tips?

Okay guys this is my first post here, so bear with me.
I'm just wondering if anyone can give guidance or refer me somewhere I can find a solution. I both CS4 and CS5 of Ai installed on my mac. Everything works just great, until I attempt to move an object. Something simple as a single line with freeze my system if I attempt to move it from one location to another.
It is odd. I can scale/transform objects without any issue. Its just when I click an object to drag it to another location my system will freeze for about 5 seconds. The object won't move still. I opened up Activity Monitor and noticed my Memory usage sky rocketed as soon as I tried to move the object.
Is there configurations for memory allocation in Illustrator like there is in photshop?
(PS I have 3GB RAM and a 120GB HDD with 30GB free space, 2.0 Intel Core 2 processor, it's a 2007 Mac Mini)

How big is the file? and is it complex if so then you simply do not have the resources. Also you might have a font cache issue.
But I think the lack of resources.

My mouse freezes in adobe muse can not move objects

the problem is that my mouse after a few minutes it freezes and will not let me move objects.
this happens with adobe muse 2014.2
and the worst is that my file can not be opened with earlier versions ( help)

I think this is a bug in the new update. I have made numerous sites since and all of them have gotten the horiztonal scroll. I mentioned it in the bug section and had a staff member help me with my first issue but have not heard anything else since.
This is a pretty serious bug, you can not launch a website with a horizontal scroll like this.

Can only move object one axis at a time in PageMake 5

I must have hit some sort of short cut. I can only move an object one way at a time. Also rectangle tool only draws squares. Any help is appreciated. TIA

Thank you for the reply. Yes it is a old version and using an old Op system, Win98. Doesn't make it useless but will add a lot of extra time. Won't let me move object freely, only one direction at a time. Also won't draw rectangles or ovals. Not sure if I put some constraint on by accident. Thanks again for the help.

Can´t move objects in elements 12 ??

Hi !
When I try to cut or copy objects in elements 12 – I am not able to move them in the picture. When I do, they jump right back to where I cut them. The only way is if I chose “free transform” but other functions e.g. “content aware move” do not work either..
I have tried to re-install – same results. I am running a MAC version on Yosemite 10.10

We sincerely apologize for the problem customers are facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).
In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:
1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad
2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem
Plug-in installation instructions:
1. Close Photoshop Elements
2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)
3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:
• For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
• For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".
Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.
If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.

Can't move objects from layer to layer

Hi all,
I have been using illustrator for years and only now happened upon this issue. When I try to move on object or text from one layer to another, I a red "Not allowed to do" symbol, to the right side, within that layer.
How can I correct this issue?

The objects that I am trying to move, are plane black line drawings, no fills. Every time I drag the small color box (in the layers pallet)from one layer to the next, I get the red cirle with a diagonal line through it. This symbol appears where the layer color should be. The layers are not locked. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Can't move objects?

I cannot figure out what's going on with my InDesign. I can't select any object, text or path, and move it by dragging. I can move it by nudging with the arrow keys, but dragging does not work. I've restarted, trashed preferences, etc, and it just won't work. Any ideas?
The hand tool is also not working to move placed images around within a box.

I am still having a problem with this, and I am desperate for help. I thought I would try to delete my preferences, but I am not quite sure which ones to delete. The object is not locked, the layer is not locked, the file is not locked. I don't know what else to try. I am on a deadline (of course) and would be grateful for any suggestions. Thank you!
