Can't move text in Curriculum Vitae template (Pages 5.0)

I know it's not a good idea to use a template for a CV, but I need one right away (Thursday) and I really like the Pages 5.0 template.
The problem is, I'm trying to gain some space moving up the content of the page (and so using all the empty space at the top), but while I don't have problems moving up the table (on the left), I can't find a way to move the text (on the right) accordingly - like if there's an invisible roof. I tried tempering with the settings, but nothing

You haven't said what version of Pages, nor which CV template.
However I suspect, but can't be sure that it is Pages 5.2.2 and I think I know the CV template. It has a floating Textbox for the titles on the left and the regular document margins for the details on the right. A rather unwieldy arrangement.
Change the Margins in Document.

I can't modify the title in my template pages?

I'm developing a site from a template and have most of the site built. I did have some issues with the template and errors earlier on in the process when I was working when I should have been sleeping, I think I erased the 'doctile' in the head of the template. The template still updates the child pages, but now I've discovered I can't change the title on the template pages and I think I've made a real mess out of the template. Can you pleae have a look and possible let me know where I go from here to resolve this issue.

Copy and Paste this code into a new, blank, HTML document. Save As a new template in your Templates folder. Test it first. If it works as it should, save it over your old design_template.dwt.

How can I wrap text in a pie in pages?

If you need to insert text into a shape like a pie wedge, the easiest way might be to simply use the shape - freeform tool (at the bottom of the shape menu) and create a shape and type your text in it then place the shape over your pie wedge. The text within the shape should wrap - additional controls for text can be used with the Text Inspector.
You can edit the actual shape with Format Object > Make Shape Editable option but unfortunately, you have an option to make straight or smooth curves, but not both, so you'll need to shape the object using smooth curves and use the the bezier controls that appear as you select a control point.

How can I control text color in a template?

Hi,
I've got a template I'm using to control a simple text
navigation menu. The menu is not even a list, it is just the
following text with links applied:
Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 ....etc
All the pages on my site use this template to control the
order in which pages appear in the navigation menu. The color
(a.link, visited, hover, and active) is controlled by css styles.
What I want to do is make the "Page 1" text a certain color when
the user is on Page 1, make the "Page 2" text a certain color when
the user is on Page 2, and so on. However, since I cannot edit any
of the individual pages (e.g. cannot apply a class style to
individual "Page x" text links) due to the fact that they are
controlled by a template and are not editable regions, I can't seem
to apply a certain color to the appropriate text link for the
corresponding page (i.e. can't make the "Page 1" text a certain
color only on Page 1). If I make the navigation text links an
editable region than I loose the ability to update those text links
via the template, so that's not an option. I fooled around with the
"Make Attribute Editable" tool, putting div tags around my text
links (<div class="text_color">Page 1</div>...I also
tried it with span instead of div), but couldn't get that to work.
Does anyone know how I can do this? Basically, I just want the user
to have a visual clue as to what page he's on while still being
able to use a template to create the pages (and residing navigation
menu).

Never make your navigation editable or you will shoot
yourself in the foot
when it comes time to change a link there and you would have
to touch every
page. <sheesh>
Give each of those links a unique ID, e.g.,
<a href="page1.html" id="link1">Page 1</a> |
<a href="page2.html"
id="link2">Page 2</a>....
Then in the head of each child page, add this to the Editable
Region called
"head" -
<style type="text/css">
a#link2 { color:whatever; otherstuff:whatever; }
</style>
Now you would just edit the embedded stylesheet to change
a#link2 to a#link3
or whichever button you wanted to affect on that page.

Can't Move Text Into Vanishing Point Plane

For some reason, when I select text and attempt to paste it into a vanishing point plane, the selection ends up 200% longer than what it should be, and I can't move the text layer into the plane. Screenshot attached.

After you paste the text, (or anything previously copied to the clipboard before entering Vanishing Point) into Vanishing Point, there is no reason why you can't use Free Transform to scale it back to your required size, and aspect ratio. If the text or object is too big, and the FT handles are outside the VP Plane, just drag it down so you can see the upper handles, scale it down, and drag it back into position.
Note: that when using FT Perspective on any object (I am talking about outside of VP) it tends to exaggerate the 'length' because that's how we would probably see the object in real life. Perspective I just about the only time I actually right click and chose an option from within FT, because it is so easy and quick to Ctrl (Cmd) drag a corner or center handle.
Unfortunately you only get the basic FT options of size and aspect ratio from within VP, which is a pity because you can't distort your object to apparently wrap onto a curved surface. I added some FT warp to this text before applying it from within VP. I suspect I am missing a trick or two with VP as I don't use it very often, so I'd love to hear from someone who really has it under control?

Can I move a subpage to the root page location?

The default homepage of our exisiting portal users is the page group root page. We have designed a new page that we wish to use as the root page. This new
page is current a subpage within the page group.
How can I copy or move this
subpage page so it replaces the root page?

hi paul,
you cannot replace the root page since this is a very special page in portal that is the container for all the content held in a page group.
you can of course move around pages and page structures within a page group. if you need to change the default homepage of your users/groups you can do that in the profile settings of theses users/groups and just point to the page that you want to use as your new homepage.
another solution is delete the content from your root page and use list view for bulk copy/move of items to the root page from your sub-page.
there are several solutions to this.

Can't Move Text Boxes

I am trying to add mobile pages from my mobile site, but when I copy/paste the text boxes from the desktop version, then try to move them, Muse crashes. It also crashed when I created a new text box, added type, and tried to move that. Here is the error message that I received each time:
I have the latest version of Muse installed. I cannot move ANY boxes by clicking and dragging, but I can resize them. I have a ton of pages to do and can't spend the time nudging them or typing in values. I have no idea how to fix this, can anyone help?

How can I move text onto the following line in CSS without making a new paragraph?

When I press enter to move the text underneath the previous text, it starts a new paragraph which I don't want. How can I simply get it to flow onto the next line without creating a new paragraph?

Can't change text box in resume template

Hi,
I filled out my resume in a Pages template but now want to expand the text box (I believe that'd be the term) but it won't let me. Maybe it's not a text box after all. Any ideas?

By expand do you mean add text to it or make it physically bigger?
I take the later.
The size is set by the margins:
+Inspector > Document (1st tab) > Document margins+
+Inspector > Layout (2nd tab) > Layout > Layout margins+

Can't move text in Acrobat 9

We create a document in Word 2007 and save as
.pdf. We then use the text touch up tool to edit certain text and to move certain
text. We used to do this in Acrobat 5 without an issue, but in Acrobat 9 there are no handles on the text
boundary after selecting with the text touch up tool. Please help.

I upgraded from Acrobat 9 Std to Acrobat 9 Pro and all is well.

I can't move text boxes out of box at top of page

I am using the iWeb SEO program to optimize my site for search engines. In so doing I created my own hyperlinked page names in individual text boxes and then placed them at the very top of the page. The trouble is that they will not show up when I update the site and I cannot move them out of a box at the top of the page.
There is a thin, wide rectangle sitting atop a thin line that runs all the way across the page. I cannot delete that thin rectangular box and if I try to drag it down it hits the line and just pushes the line further down. The same thing happens if I grab any of my navigation boxes (Home, etc.) If I attempt to move them down than that thin line moves down as well pushing the rest of the content down as I go. How do I rescue my navigation boxes from this area and why in the world are they locked in there in the first place???????

Hold the command key to dag textboxes from one layer to another.
And the default navigation links are locked in the naviation layer by design.

I can't move text on top of an object

Hi there. No matter what I do with "send to back" or "bring forward," or text wrap or the Ctrl+B function and check the little "ignore text wrap" box, I cannot get my text to show on top of a picture I imported. The text will appear in the text box to the left of the picture, but then runs right under the picture.
Can someone help?

When you check "ignore text wrap", are you sure that it's the text frame with the errant text in it you are selecting?
If you want the text to overprint the picture, you probably don't need text wrap applied to the picture. So check it's
turned off, and then check there isn't another frame there with text wrap turned on.

i have a iphone 4, is there any way to keep or save text messages u get or to put them into a new folder on your phone?

The answer to your first question - there are apps that will allow you to extract your texts and save them. Try a google as there are many different ones both free and paid that you might want to peruse. A lot of people will offer up opinions on which is best but there are many different choices.
You can delete an entire conversation by right swiping on the person in Messages then hitting Delete.

Can I move text messages between 2 handsets?

If I upgrade my iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4 / 4S, will it transfer all my text messages over to the new handset?

so your saying if we sync our 3gs before syncing our new phone, it will transfer all text messages to the new device?
what about voice mail? will those get transfered too or is there a way to get them off the 3gs?
