Can't network print lexmark C510

Help, can't print to my lexmark c510 on a network print server since upgrading my Imac to leopard. Printer is recognised at IP address and installed fine, but nothing prints when I try to do a print job. I have tried the drivers on the Leopard disc, priniting was fine under Tiger on the Imac, printing still works from powerbook G4 running Tiger.
Other then that, Leopard was a hassle free and great upgrade.
Thanks

Hi,
I figured out what my problem was. I think I've been sending print jobs to one printer and looking for output at another. That's why the Powerbook appeared to be sending OK. It was.
We have different scenarios. I'm using wirless and I have OS 10.5. You're on an ethernet connection with the older 10.3. I use what appears to be called "Bonjour" printing while you're using "Rendezvous." People report they're nearly the same. I dunno. I have in my system preferences a "print and fax" pane. There's a list of printers, I hit the + sign to add a printer then put in the IP address that my kind co-workers have put on the printer. The Powerbook automatically looks for the printer, gets its model from the printer and picks the corresponding driver, although if I disagree, I can change drivers. Once I get the right printer in there with the right driver, there's an icon that actually looks like the printer, which I have to admit is kind of handy.
What I can't explain is at some point after I upgrade from 10.3 to 10.5, I did something that automatically detected printers. It detected the HP 4700 color and the 2840 all-in-one but missed the 2200 BW. (Could it have been idel and undetectable?) I was all cornfused and kept looking for BW output at the 2200 but I think it was probably spewing out of the 2840. Good thing it was actually work-related!
I did have the 2200 and 4700 working fine under 10.3.9 myself, so I betcha you can get your 2840 working. Memory is always limited of such details, but I think I had to put the IP address into some printer list to get it to work back then.

    Hi John
    Thanks for replying,
My current setup is this, my non apple router is accessed wirelessly by all my computers, ie imac, mac mini and macbook pro, ipad & iphones for internet.
My printer is in another room so therefore I cannot connect the AEBS (airport extreme base station) with an ethernet cable (I have intially in order to update the firmware and other updates) so in following the attached guidelines are you saying that I have to have the AEBS connected with the ethernet cable to the router?
I was hoping to wirelessly connect.
The wish is that all my devices can print wirelessly
What has happened though is that I can access the AEBS wirelessly, but it has disabled me from my router so I cannot connect to the internet neither to that network
    Any other advice
    Thanks

  • Can't print to network printer after application is built

All computers are Windows 2000, LabVIEW 5.1.1. While the application is run from Labview, printing to a network printer works fine(using the Easy Text Report.vi). The application was then made into an exe using the application builder. The development system was removed from the computer and network printing still works ok. When the exe is installed on a different computer (along with AccessHW and CVIRTE5.5) network printing does not work from the application. Other programs on this computer can do network printing.
It appears the development system has installed some files that are retained even after the development system is removed. What am I missing.

Is "wired" via USB or ethernet? If USB, you may need to run the printer through a powered hub to keep the power up. Looks like you have to use an optional ethernet card with that model--a great solution if you have it.

I can’t print to my network printer.  Network Magic shows that the printer is ‘online’, however, when I try to print from Windows, the ‘Print’ dialog box shows the status as ‘Error - Offline’.  The printer’s display window shows the printer as ‘Ready’.

    Hi aquaman53,
The problem is that the Router has changed the IP Address of the Lexmark Network Printer. You need to use Static IP Addresses so the IP Address does not change.
I don't know if the DI-524 Router allows one to assign Devices / Computers to Static IP Addresses. I know that you can with the DIR-655 Router.

  • Can no longer print wirelessly - False Message - "Network Host is Busy"

Fairly new to Macbook, but when I initially set up my printer wirelessly it worked fine. After recent 'updates' to the OS and HP drivers, I'm stuck with the 'network host is busy' problem that I seen in many other threads. There have been NO changes to my hardware - same router, same printer. Print jobs sit in queue and host is always 'busy' but it's not, really. There doesn't seem to be a good and actual "solution" for the issue yet. Here's the details:
    Macbook Pro, 13"
    Mac OS X 10.6.4
HP OfficeJet J6400 (drivers - 3.0.4 - just updated with the latest update from Apple)
Printer is running ONLY wirelessly, it is not hooked to a PC. It has an IP assigned by my router.
I have two PC's that print to it just fine, wirelessly.
I removed the printer from the Macbook, and re-installed it sort of manually using IPP as the protocol. The Macbook 'sees' the printer, and I can access the printer utilities to view ink levels, see the hardware/firmware information, etc.
I can also print a test page wirelessly from the Macbook, because as I'm told, printing a test page bypasses the drivers; and if you can print a test page but can't print normally, it would seem there's a driver issue, no?
One thing I don't know how to figure out is the 'queue name' so I leave it blank for 'default'. This is the only wireless printer and there are no other shared printers.
So I'm pretty well stuck, and have to move files or send links to my PC so I can print stuff (flawlessly) from there since the Macbook won't print at all - I always receive the 'network host is busy' message. The frustrating thing is, when I first installed it months ago, installation went very smoothly, and everything worked perfectly - until recently.
I know it's not just me, but any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Checking the HP web site I could not find a manual for the J6400 but there was a J6410 and its User Guide states the following...
    1. Click the HP Device Manager icon on the Dock or in the Hewlett Packard folder in the Applications folder.
    2. From the Information and Settings list, select Network Printer Setup Utility.
I also found the following HP wireless support site that suggests the print queue creation is performed by the HP software. No mention of how to configure the Mac queue manually.

  • If I use my Airport Express to establish a network printer can I print from my IPad and iPhone?

I want to be able to print to a network printer with my IPad and IPhone with IOS 5.0.1.  Seems like there is a limited number of printers that can "AirPlay" from these devices.  I have an Airport Express and I know how to connect a printer and set it up as a network printer, my question is can I wirelessly print from my Ipad and iPhone then.  Seems too easy for what appears to be a limited set of new printers that have that have Thai function built in.

  • Can't connect to Network Printer

I just bought a laptop with Vista.  I have  wireless router connected to a wired router.  My two desktops are conneted to the wired router and the laptop is wireless to the wireless router.
My printer does not have a wireless card, so I have it plugged to one desktop, and I have the other desktop using it as a network printer.
I can't seem to get the wireless to see the printer.  I have enabled file & print sharing on all computers, and the print spooler service is started on all computers.  When I do "Add a printer" it doesn't see the printer.  I tried doing "Add a network printer" and entering the name as \\computername\printername (where computername is the computer the printer is attached to), but I alternately get these two errors:
"Windows cannot connect to the printer. The server print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler on the server or restart the server machine" or
"Windows cannot connect to the printer. Makes ure that you have typed the name correctly, and that the printer is connected to network."
I have not been able to see the desktop computer at all in the network options, but I do see the wired router listed, but no computers connected to the router.
Can anyone help with this?  I am at my wit's end.                     Dan

    Hello,
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-US;2388142
    Might be the right hotfix!
I will be trying this hotfix this week. I have this problem SO bad right now. The only slight difference is that my print server is running Microsoft Storage Server
2003, and all my clients are now windows 7. The problem hits users at seemingly random times, random 5% of the company per day, and all printer pools...it made no sense at all!
I'll keep you posted as to whether the asyncronous RPC reg key helps, or if your hotfix does.
There is also something i found that works (for 48 hours straight anyways):
On vista/7 client, go to Devices and Printers and click Add Printer
Then choose Local Printer. I know your printer is shared on a print server, just stick with me here!!
Choose Create New Port and select Local Port...
When it asks you for a port name, type in the UNC ADDRESS of the printer (ie \\printserver1\HPLaser5000n).
When it asks you for a driver, point it to the right location where you downloaded a clean set of drivers matching your client OS and printer. Or press the Windows Update button.
finish adding the printer. You will notice the name of the printer doesn't have a "...on [printserver1"
anymore, BUT it will still print!!
I have done this for 4 printer pools and for the last 2 days the 1 user i set it up for has had no printing problems. May be total coincidence, but at this point i was willing to try anything. I'm not sure if this constitutes fooling windows 7 into setting
up a remote printer as a local printer, and i'm also doubting this will be deployable via GPO or script...but still, i hope it helps.

  • Can I set up a wireless printer as a network printer and not use Airport?

I have a HP Photosmart Plus wireless printer set up in my network for use by several iPods, iPads, and iPhones.   I have an iMac running 10.6.8 that I want to set it up on, but to use it as a regular network printer, not using Airport.  Is this possible?  I haven't been able to hit on the right combination of settings.  I have a Samsung laser printer that works this way, and an Epson that is attached to an Airport Express, but all I get on the HP is garbage.  It will work when I set it up using the HP install disk, but I have to use Airport and I don't always get a good signal where the iMac is located.  I would prefer to use  the wired connection to my router and access the HP's IP address, like a wired network printer.     Any suggestions?

I'm using a Canon printer here which is networked via my Airport Express.  My printer cannot be Wi fi enabled simultaneousely with an ethernet cable connection. It is either or.  I realise that this doesn't fully answer your question, but I just wanted to give you a clue.  You'd need to consult your owners manual, or HP to get a definitive answer.
If you want to use the HP printer printer only with the wired ethernet connection to your router, that should be no problem as long as it is ethernet capable.
After setting it up for wired ethernet capability, you will need through the sequence of powering your router down, and resetting you Lan network so the router and printer can pick up their respective IP assignments.

Tells me syntax is incorrect?  Tried substitution printer IP address for computername? didn't work.
There should be an easier way to send a file to a printer then using DOS commands?  Tried dragging and dropping, didn't work.

    >> ... I didn't realize the .prn file created were dependent on the type of printer ...
Most (but not all) of the output originally intended for HP LaserJet (or clone) printers can be printed on newer LaserJet models, which (apart from the cheap 'host-based' models) usually support the PCL5, PCL6 and PostScript Page Description Languages.
But inkjet devices use a larger set ofPDLs (and, in most cases, not the same as those supported by LaserJet printers), so there is much more potential for incompatibility.
Some PCL Viewer applications (e.g. SwiftView, PCL Works) should be able to display the contents of your .prn file(s), and may be able to convert them to raster images which can then be printed on a different printer model.

  • Can't Connect to My Network Printer Anymore: Brother 7065-DN

I bought my Macbook Pro in 2010 and never had a problem connecting to my home network printer until a few months ago. Ever since I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion 10.8.5 I can't see or access the network printer. My daughter, who bought her Macbook Pro at the beginning of the year, pre installed with Mountain Lion, has no issues seeing and printing to the printer. I tried reinstalling the driver from my disk and it wouldn't take. I tried downloading the Brother driver from Apple and the specific driver's and updates for my printer, nothing. When I am lucky enough to see it on the printer list, it won't print, saying that the printer cannot be located. I have tried (when it does see it, which is random and weird) using the IP address and then the driver from the list, I also tried using the post script general. I have tried adding the IP address of the printer in the printer set up, I have tried adding the MAC address, I've tried clicking it when it occasionally shows up under my work group. I tried installing it while it was connected directly to the laptop...Nothing....I've turned on printer sharing, file sharing, and anything else I can think of...I am at a loss!
The two Windows PC and the other Macbook in the house can connect via the network, no problem. I even tried to look at her settings to see what was different but I couldn't figure it out. What is really frustrating is that I am working on my degree and need to print regularly, so everyone else in the house has to stop what they are doing, open the file I sent them through e-mail, download it, and then print it. It irritates them and me!

  • Can no longer print on any network printers or on printer wired to USB

I changed the printer to "Select printer"  save as PDF
since then i can no longer print to any printer on network
also I tried to connect a printer direct to usb. still no luck.
I have tried to update software
I have tried to select different printer on network
I believe the problem is in a setting that automatically changed when I selected "Save as PDF" as one of the printers.
there are so many tabs and locations on this system I just don't know where to start

First thing to try is go into your system preferences using the little apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Go to printers  an see if your printer is listed there. Go through the settings looking for something that would lock it to acting like a PDF exporter all the time. Sometimes the printer utility will have a "Print Test Page Option".
Installing some software, like Adobe, will also install dummy printer drivers that show up as "PDF Printers" in the Printers listing. This could be set as the default printer, but shouldn't stop you from selecting a different printer at print time.
If all else fails, you could try removing all he printers from your System Preferences, then reinstalling your current printer with default setups after restarting the computer. When it sees the "new" device it should start the install process like it did the first time. If you are not comfortable doing that, better to wait for better help or you could end up being worse off than you are now.
I too print to PDF often by selecting the option at the bottom of the print page. But it doesn't lock into that mode. It prints to the printer by default.
    Good luck.

  • Can't print from a windows pc to network printer

I am having a network printer problem.
I have a Canon printer plugged into the usb port of my Mac-Mini.  I can print fine from the Mac to the printer.  I have network sharing enabled for the printer.
I have a Dell PC connected to an Airport Express via internet cable as part of my network.
I have bonjour installed on the Dell
Bonjour can see the networked canon printer and will install it as the default printer for the Dell PC.
However, I can not print from the Dell unless I have the wrong printer driver (an HP driver) installed.  As long as the wrong driver is installed I can print the first page of a document only.
If I install the correct Canon driver, the printer ceases to function.
I tried connecting the printer to the airport express via usb.  Once I did this, I was able to print from the Dell pc with no problem using the correct driver.  But then, I could no longer print from the Mac-mini via the Airport Express connected printer.  The Mac could see the printer and identify that it was connected via Airport.  And the Mac will allow me to connect to the Airport connected printer .  But as soon as I trie to print something from the Mac, it fails and gives an error message or pauses and says the drivers may not be correct.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

    Detective445 wrote:
I believe that there may not be a solution to this because the printer will only recognize one set of drivers.  Since one set of drivers is for the Mac and one set is for a PC It will only work with one machine or the other.
Then you should be able to print from the Mini after resetting the printer, e.g. by turning it off and back on after a short while. But it sounds as if this won't help either, and to be frank, it's not an "acceptable" explanation, either...
So, what's the error message? Unless known, we can only keep guessing:
You've reset the printer system in the Mini? Eventually consider deleting the Canon drivers manually afterwards, and only then add the printer again and re-install its software.
If that doesn't help either, the issue must be a communication problem, meaning I'd recommend to double-/triple-check all comm-related things as well.
