Can't nudge selected items with keyboard arrows

When I select an object or layer and try to nudge the
selection around with the arrow keys, I get no response.
I searched the preferences and can't find this to be a
setting, and I trashed my preferences file figuring this can't be
default behavior - but it appears to be.
I just tested this in Fireworks 8 and CS3 (Mac). It works in
8 but not in CS3.

I've been having the same issue with CS6 12.0.1.274
It's maddening. Like sometimes the keyboard doesn't work. The same thing happens with mouseclicks trying to select an object. I have to click numerous times to get a selected object.
This isn't just a time lag or memory issue. I literally can't get an object by clicking and then arbitrarily sometimes I can after a few clicks. The arrow and shift keys are randomly not working at all either!!
Buh!
OSX Lion Macbook Pro 8Gb RAM and an i7 processor. I don't have any similar issues in any other program.

Huh.. Interesting. I went back to check these proceedures and found there is a difference between using the return key or the space bar as the action command.
tabbing the blue ring moves the selection and then spacebar takes that action. The return key takes action of only the blue collored button.

Can only select items with direct selection tool

I have been working on a design: one layer, with multiple groupings, nothing is locked. I'm trying to select the items with the selection tool, but can only select items with the direct selection tool (which is very inconvenient in this case). I can select the text with the text tool, but that really serves no purpose in my case. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on? When I was working on it yesterday, everything was fine with all the tools. Thanks in advance.

It may be a corruption of preferences, or an issue outside Illy.
You may try to close down and just restart, or close down and restart pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cme+Option+Shift, or close down and use the suggestions in Move the folder or, if none of those suggestions help, have a look at the list in Other options

Direct selection - moving anchor points with keyboard arrow keys

Hi,
I am using Illustrator CC. I just used the image trace tool to create a vector version of my company logo. It worked pretty well, but I am now just trying to clean it up a bit. I have a few anchor points that I just want to nudge up or down in the smallest increment possible.
I think it would be easier for me to do this using the keyboard arrow keys rather than using the mouse, but the arrow keys cause my selected anchor point to jump by way too large of a distance. I checked to make sure Smart Guides, Snap to Grid, and Snap to Point are all turned off. I can't think of anything else to do.
Can anyone tell me what controls how far the keyboard arrow keys will move an anchor point, and how I can set this to the smallest possible distance?

Under Preferences (Command-K on Mac), on the first screen there is Keyboard Increment. This is the amount the arrow keys will move selected content, such as anchor points.
I usually keep this at "0.005 in", but when doing things that need extreme accuracy, I change it to "0.0002 in", which on my screen (2560 x 1600) is one pixel at AI's 6400% magnification.

Notification or Alert when selecting Item with charge on Sales Order???

Is it possible to make an notification / alert on a salesorder when entering a item with batch/charge???
Now everytime the customer must enter CTRL-TAB on amount field to select a batch but don't get a reminder for the batch.
They don't want to select the batch/charge on Delivery.

You can say which users cannot modify Sales Orders like by modifying the @UserId IN (10,11) below. You need to get the User ID from the OUSR table.

I was just wondering how other pople solve this issue.
I have a combobox with a XX number of items in there. Now
when I re-populate the combobox the selected item get's lost. I
also would like to remember the selected item during sessions. For
instance when A user selected item XX on monday. I would like to
have it automatically set XX again when a user comes back on
tuesday.
Is there a meganism in adobe flex that allows me to remember
a 'state' of a object, or is that custom programming?
Ideally I would like to have a component that can do teh work
for me rather then my application handles the logic, some sort of a
state manager?

I think the question here (or at least mine) is how to block cookies based on *their name*, instead of their source site. E.g. how to stop Google's data mining and user profiling mania, based on numerous cookies with name __ut* . The source of these cookies is not Google. They are first party cookies, "provided to you" by the sites you visit, which delegate the hit counting to Google analytics.

Can't select user with keyboard on login

I know this seems trivial, but these things usually mean a bigger underlaying problem.
When I restart the computer and the login screen appears, I used to be able to type the letter of the user I wanted to login as, then type the password and log in. But lately, I can't select the name by using the keyboard. I have to use the mouse to select the name, then type the password and log in.
Like I said, trivial, but does anyone know what's happening? The entire system has been acting quirky lately and I've rebuilt the permissions about 3 times a week for the past month. Should I zap the PRAM? I've also run Onyx twice in the last week, but it doesn't seem to help (one thing that's happening is that when I go to a web site,the progress bar in Safari seems to move across at a quick clip, but then it hangs for anywhere from 5-20 seconds while it's seemingly loading the graphics...I've reset the cache and cleared the history, but it still happens...I have DSL).
Is this going to require a reloading of the system? Geez, I hope not...

This is the third time I've had to use DW, and it's been a godsend each time. The first two times, the HD couldn't be recognized at all. I panicked, researched a little as to whether I should get DW or TechTool, then drove approximately 35 miles to the nearest mall (well, the nearest mall that has any decent stores in it!) and bought DW from Best Buy for $99. I needed it right away because I was in the middle of a project, so I couldn't wait for mail order.
I can't even guess as to how much it saved me in time and money by ressurecting that HD myself. I'm in the process of buying a 500GB internal to replace my Firewire drives, and I thought that I might also need a new one to replace the one with the system on it. But after today, I might just run DW once a month to keep it "clean and smooth."
Again, thanks for your help. It pays to look at the big picture!

I can't drag selected items in to mission control using the 3 finger swipe in 10.7.2

After upgrading to 10.7.2 I cannot drag items from the finder to mission control anymore. I used to select the items I wanted, click to drag and then swipe three fingers to show Mission Control and then drop the items in to the selected app/folder.
Now I can't. And it's irritating.

Made the same post. No one responded, it seems that there are not many users interested in this change for the worse. I'm braking my fingers here trying to move files from mail to desktop... Lousy move Apple, but considering the fact that people are not making a fuss about it it could be that there's something wrong with us .

This is my first Mac and I'm totally converted. Excellent! But the transition from a Windows O/S has not been without its difficulties. One problem that eludes me is how do I (in either Pages or Word for Mac) go directly to the end of a line of text? In Windows, there's the 'end' key. Is there an equivalent in Mac? Can't seem to find it. Help would be appreciated.

a full mac keyboard does have the same home and end keys and they work the same way you are used to. on a laptop keyboard they are combined with left and right arrow keys. I'm not at my laptop right now but as i recall to get the home or end functionality you need to hold one of the modifier keys. try control+left arrow and control+right arrow for starters. or fn+left arrow and fn+right arrow.

How to select items with selectedItem and selectedIndex?

I'm trying to selected and item in both a dropdownlist and combobox using selectedItem or selectedIndex properties. They don't work
Browing internet I found a lot of people with the same problem, that was already know in 2008.
The easy commands ddcompontent.selectedIndex = value or ddcomponent.selectedItem = item don't work.
Can anyone help me?

Without seeing your code it's hard to tell where you are going wrong.
I have comboboxes which I need to set to the last value selected.
I wrote a function like this, and it works fine for my needs. Given you know the value you want to select. if you know the index of the item already then you should just be able to set that.

Navigating slideshow with keyboard arrow?

Why is this not the default? Is there a way to make it happen? I don't see it in the controls. My client wants his site visitors to be able to flip through several slideshow-created galleries using just the keyboard left and right arrows. This seems like it should be available.

Another quick point to mention is that if instead you wish to remap that to another set of keys such WASD or map them to soft screen buttons (that reside in a different layer to the slideshow or whatever!) - the code for this widget is very short and easy to replicate. As isn't immediately obvious what freeware license widget is released under won't post code here, but find it as follows:
1. place widget onto new blank page in blank new website
2. Preview page in browser
3. In chrome, right click and select inspect element (use similar function in your browser of choice if not chrome)
4. script is 6 lines under 
7. Replace keycode 37 and 39 which are left and right respectively with your keycode for your key you wish from Javascript Char Codes (Key Codes) - Cambia Research

Can't view interactive items with Content Viewer

I have created some interactive items in InDesign CS6; rollover buttons, animation, slideshow... etc. when I click Preview at the bottom of the Folio Overlay panel it works fine but when I test with Content Viewer(both desktop and iPad 2), it's not working. Let me know if you can help me on this, I have spent last couple days to figure out this error but no luck so far.
Thought I did something wrong so I have test with "Local Spring" tutorial and swipe 360 viewer and slideshow don't work either.
System Info: Mac Lion OX, CS6, Adobe Content Viewer(v20), DPS tools are all updated.

Have you tried moving it over to the actual device to test it (i.e. iPad)? I found my videos didn't look very well on the desktop version of the Content Viewer but when I moved it over to the iPad, it looked great.
Just a thought.
