Can't open a minimized Skype

Hi, I'm using Windows 8 and I've downloaded the desktop version of Skype and it worked nicely. It was pretty normal until today as there's no reaction when I clicked on the minimized Skype. It states that I'm logged in but when I click the Skype icon at the taskbar, it didn't pop up like it used to
I've tried reinstalling the latest version and the old version but it's the same thing all over again. The only time it can pop up is when I logged out and restarted the computer, after logging in, it dissapears and cannot be opened when clicked on the taskbar icon.

Try first to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

I see there is no answer for the problem that guy have had and I have the same problem - links from skype and from windows live mail won't open and there's more - FF doesn't open html files that are saved to pc, even thou I just saved em, but when I click on em happens nothing and when I rightclick and choose open with FF happens nothing.
It worked for couple of weeks with no problem and suddenly today links just make skype flash exactly as in christianhbergs description and in windows live mail they are becoming purple but firefox doesn't react.
as soon as I make IE as my default - links are working, but not with firefox.
So I assume the problem is in firefox (not in skype or WLM nor in Win8)
(running Win8 and FF25.0)
And none of the solutions you gave us in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961242#answer-497345 work.

Can't open Skype at all on Macbook Pro

I have been struggling with Skype for a long time on my Macbook Pro and wondered if anyone has any advice. When I try to open the application, it crashes immediately before I can even log in. This has been the behaviour for several versions of Skype now, so I am starting to think there is something on my machine which conflicts with it and the problem will not be solved by waiting for a future release of Skype.
Currently it is failing with version 6.0.60.2496 of Skype (downloaded today) on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.8.2. The machine is a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM, purchased in 2009. Exactly the same problem occurred in Lion, before I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I have tried a number of steps to solve the problem, including:
* Removing the /skype folder from /Library/Application Support and the preference file from Preferences, uninstalling Skype, restarting in Safe Mode, downloading it again, installing and trying to open it
* Changing the settings in Text to Speech to a different voice
* Downloading an older version of Skype and trying to run that
Everything crashes instantly every time and I am unable to use Skype at all.
Skype support have told me there's nothing further they can suggest and they think it may be a conflict with my System fonts, but I am desperate for any advice from someone who has encountered (and hopefully solved!) a similar problem.

You'll need to save it to a different format to use it on a Mac. If you can still open them on the HP, that would probably be the easiest. Save them as a Mac compatible format such as .mpg. If that doesn't work, here is a converter you can try: http://www.squared5.com/

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now I can't open more than one website at a time. When I do the first site, minimized and in the dock, is taken up by the second one.

I just upgraded my computer from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I used to be able to have as many websites open as I wished. Now when I open a website and minimize it, it minimizes and moves to the dock just like it used to do. But now when I open a second website, it takes the place of the first one down in the dock that was minimized. I can't open more than 1 website at time now.

There is something basic going on that unfortunately has me stumped.
Before you spend the $20 please try creating a new user, for testing purposes:
Creating a temporary account to isolate user-specific problems: Isolating an issue by using another user account
That is easy enough to accomplish. If Safari and the Dock behave as you expect while using that account, it will help determine the cause. Please report the results of this test.
Delete the temporary account after you finish testing.
Many of those features I mentioned are new in Mountain Lion, and represent a significant change from Snow Leopard. Though you should certainly continue to use your Mac the way you have been accustomed to using it, you may find using Mountain Lion's new features advantageous. Otherwise you may find yourself spending the $20 often. The help available here is often better than Apple's. It is not always correct, but it is always free.

The download worked better with Firefox not sure why. At the bottom of the page after the captcha>> slow down load is the Free link, it took about 4 minutes to download on my test.

I keep multiple windows opened and minimized. Sometimes when I click on the task bar to Restore, it apparently "disappears" out of view past the upper left corner. From then on, it can only be seen by using Maximize. What can be done to move it back?

When Restore/Move/Size are clicked, the pointer just goes to the upper left corner of the screen with all combinations of clicking/dragging having no success. What causes this, and what can be done to move it back?

If a window disappear then using the system menu can make it reappear or make it possible to move that window in view. I don't know what causes it to make the window disappear in your case if it does work correctly if you start Firefox.
You can check the browser.link.open_newwindow prefs on the about:config page if you want to open all links in tabs in the current window.

I can't open my Skype Account

When I open up my Skype Account, it says I can't open it/use it unless I download the new version 6.0.0.2946. It says I must download and install it in order for me to use it. This has never happened before and I'm pretty sure it's a scam. What do I so? I really can't open my account with this **bleep** block there. Help! Gracias.

I am not sure which one of the steps should I follow. I have tried the reset, and didn't work. What else should I try?Basically when I try to open fb,whatsapp and Skype the page opens for less then a second and then disappears.

So I tried to change permissions of the Hard Disk with OS, then, one after another some windows appeared, here first of them, and a detail:
The system extension can´t be used
The system extension "/System/Library/ Extensions/ACard671xSCSI.kext" was not well instaled, the it can be used. Try to reinstal it or contact manofacturer to obtain a update.

(NOTE: there were a lot of more windows related to differents extensions, some are: "Sustem/Library/Extensions/Apple BMC.Kext"; "(...)Apple EFI Runtime.kext" , "(...) AppleEFIRuntime.Kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleEFINVRAM-kext", etc. I have almost all captured, in case you need more details I can upload the as well).
Then, I turn off the computer (because it stop working with all those pop ups windows) and next time I tried to turn it on, it never restart again ( it turn in but never start the OS), therefore I restarted from the DVD.

I have the external disk in technical service, they will try to repair it. It was in MacPlus (registrered) format, configured in Raid 0 ( two hard disk enclosed together and working as one). Now, to recaptured the tapes for the project I have purchase another hard disk ( 1 T and configured it with MacPlus (registrered) format), this new hard disk is well detected by my computer.

One link opens in minimized window

the client application has a library with a links. Some of them open in the client interface but most of them in IE.
There is a problem with one Link that actually opens IE but the window is minimized right after opening.
I need to demystify this...
The difference between opened browser window and minimized (after maximizing it) is:
Opened normally browser is the window with address bar and buttons (just full browser).
Opened in minimized mode is "locked" to not have all the above features. Just has Internet Explorer name in window frame.
The app that I am using is a Virtual Package. I saw one example where the same app is installed locally (not virtualized) opens the link that is minimized in my case normally. I would check closely both cases.
The IE versions are different in my example. Mine is IE8 other was 10.
Personally, I don't think that virtualized app may have any impact. The app calls local IE.
I am not an expert in HTML codding, but I believe there is something in page creation that push the window to minimize.
What it could be? Why the page minimized and why the window that is minimized is "locked"?

Please clarify what you mean by "minimized". Sounds like you may be describing a normal mode window that has some strange properties, perhaps because it is small.
E.g. the first thing that I thought of when I saw your title is: window open, off screen, since many users don't think to look at the Taskbar thumbnail's right-click menu to infer the state of their windows. Only if they see Minimized greyed
out in the menu should they call their window "minimized". Is that your case before you "Maximized" it? And did you Maximize it or just Restore it? Again, please consider the inferences available by considering the window's
state as given by its right-click menu.
Also here, where you are indicating that you actually see only a window title bar but nothing else means it is a custom created window. I thought we were always supposed to see at least an Address bar when this was done but perhaps you have some
software which has been able to work around that restriction. It was added when it was possible to create "chromeless" windows which were not in Fullscreen mode and malicious sites were creating fake dialogs with such functionality. In
any case when such techniques were used it used to be possible to clone the window with Ctrl-N and then that copy would have the content in a window with more normal controls. So, see if you can clone the content of your "locked" window
by pressing Ctrl-N.

Can't open Applications on Mavericks

I have updated my iMac(2009) from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, after a week or so, my applications icon is gone, left the words below it, apps like iMessage, Contacts, Mail, Apps Store, etc. I can't open any of them, My GoPro Studio App's icon is gone too, but i can open it and operate it... Please help me!!

After running Safe Mode, the icon are back, but still the applications can't be open... But here's the results, hopefully this can help out.
