Can't open a video file after Final cut export

Very strange issue which getting me nuts.
I've FCP 7 on Lion.
I'm finishing a project and export it as it is on an external hard drive for back up.
I've got a .MOV file.
After that I'm making an other folder and export all the working file from FCP.
End of the story.
Later I want to open the Quic time video file... and then I've got an error message telling me that QT is looking for data of the video file "xyz-FIN-0000000e"
There is only a STOP button.
If I press it I've got a new error message telling me :
The file "xyz-FIN-0000000e" can't be found. Without it the video can't be play correctly"
(I'm translating the message from my french system)
So I can find sometimes the files is asking from the other folder (the FCP back up files) and then it open it...).
But WHY does the video file needs reference files ?
It was an export and I ask the exporter to make a self movie...
Realy I don't understand what's wrong.
Any cue ?
Thanks !

Is this a Final Cut Pro .mov file. If it is it would open with FCP. Are you sure you saved with "self contained" checked. I seem to remember someone with a problem like this.
I think in the future you need to open your exported self contained FCP.mov files with quicktime Player and change the "open with" to quicktime player.

  • Can't open up "rendered" files in Final Cut Express

I exported files to my external hard drive to work on another computer, but can't seem to open the Rendered file.  All the original media files are intact, just can't seem to open the "Project" rendered file.

All files copied fine.  All "Original Media" and "Render Files" are intact -– my unedited video clips.  However,   there is a file that says "CurrentVersion.fcpevent" that will not open.  I'm guessing that would be the edited file that I worked on at home.

Indicas que no puedes abrir ningun archivo de video, se supone que has probado varios formatos, mp4, mov,..
Has actualizado el OSX a 10.9 ?, funcionaba antes? La versión de Photoshop es la CC, no la CC 2014?
En el menú de Ayuda>Actualizaciones, cual es el resultado, dice que esta al día?
    Tienes abiertas otras aplicaciones?
Prueba a cerrar todo, espera media minuto y abre Photoshop a ver que ocurre.

  • Can't open any excel files after installing Snow Leopard

I can't open any excel files after installing Snow Leopard. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have a standard iWork '08 install. Has anyone experienced? And better yet, know of a fix?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Most users who have had a problem opening Office files with the iWork apps after upgrading to Snow Leopard have the problem fixed by updating to the latest versions. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.2 & Numbers 2.0.2. I don't use Keynote, but it should also be updated. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

  • How do i export a single jpeg frame from a video file in final cut x

how do i export a single jpeg frame from a video file in final cut x

You can also use the 3 finger method of COMMAND+SHIFT+4, then drag across what you want to copy from the image. That will show up on your desktop, which then you can edit using Photoshop, if you want too.
You can then change the file format from a PNG to either a .JPG or TIFF or even a Photoshop image.
Make sure, you have stopped the playback, to what you want to save as a still.
Either method works, to make a still image from video.

  • Can I move video files from Final Cut Pro to iMovie?

I've used iMovie forever, and I just bought Final Cut Pro.  I uploaded video for a new movie into FCP, but I have an urgent need to get this movie done and don't have time to learn Final Cut Pro to do it.  Can I move my video files from FCP over to iMovie 10.0.6?  Or do I need to reload the raw video to iMovie?

No you will have to import your clips again into iMovie 10.  Projects can only be transferred from iMovie 10 to FCPX and not the other way.

  • Can I open PSD Video files in premiere elements 12?

I have Photoshop CS6 and would like to purchase a video editing software.  My question is if I purchase Premiere Elements 12, will I be able to open PSD video files from photoshop in the Premiere Elements?

Ps CS 6 (and the Extended version back to CS 4) can edit Video (limited Import capabilities, and limited Export capabilities). However, Ps will NOT Export any Video as a PSD. The PSD format is the Ps native Image format, and is output via Save.
My *assumption* was that the PSD was a Still Image, that was perhaps going to be animated in Video via Keyframing the Fixed Effects, such as Motion>Position, over time, as there is no PSD Video. Perhaps my assumption was incorrect, as to what the OP has, and wishes.
In Ps CS 6, Video output will be to a standard Video format/CODEC, but the list of available formats/CODEC's is very limited, compared to Premiere.
Maybe I am just misunderstanding what the OP is looking to do?

  • How can you fix corrupt Project Files in Final Cut Pro X?

    Hello All,
I have reason to believe that one of my project files in Final Cut Pro X is corrupt.
How may I begin to resolve this issue?  Is there a third party software someone could recommend, like Digital Rebellion (if they have software for FCP X, I'm not sure) that may improve, if not hopefully solve this issue?
    Many thanks!!
    Molly

    Had a similar problem.
    Follow it here:
    http://www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/11076-freeze-during-export
among other steps taken I used Corrupt Clip Finder to isolate/remove the culprit and all was OK after that
no idea how/why the file ( which I''d been using over 5 previous versions) became corrupted

  • Can't move a soundtrack file into Final Cut Express

I most likely doing something wrong. Who can give me directions for importing a Soundtrack file into Final Cut Express.

What I do Les is go to Share in Sound Track then ...Share to iTunes. Then I go to iTunes and drag it to the desk top then import via FC. There maybe is an easier way but I don't know it.

Since you end up with MOV files, it sounds like you may be using the "Export/QuickTime Movie..." option. If you then fail to set the "Make Movie Self-Contained" option, any content not specifically transcoded/rendered during the editing process will not be copied to the target file and will instead reference the source file containing the original unaltered data. To ensure your export files are non-dependent, simply check the "Make Movie Self-Contained" box option and all data will be copied to the new file but, depending on the length of your project, may take additional time to create the target export file.

  • Can't open Sony PXW-X70 (.mxf) video files for Final Cut Pro X or iMovie, please help!

    Hi there--
Just got the Sony PXW-X70 and I can't seem to open the .mxf or even successfully transcode the video files into something that can be read on the mac. (Running 10.9.5)
I downloaded Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac and the Ackrock Video Converters and neither of them work. They just are able to import the audio but not the video portion.
Very frustrated here, any advice? Thanks!

The clips from the X70 are not XAVC-S, but XAVC (sometimes called XAVC-L) and the plugin from Sony linked above is not compatible with them. I also don't recommend those sketchy third party conversion options. Still, as of mid-December, the best options for getting Sony X70 XAVC clips into FCPX are:
    1. Use the free Sony Catalyst Browse to convert them (one at a time, although you can queue up multiple files without waiting for the previous one to finish)
    2. Use the $200 Sony Catalyst Prepare software
    3. Shoot AVCHD until there is a solution from Sony - supposedly Sony is at work on a plugin for FCPX to allow native ingest/editing of these clips. I've read that it should arrive very soon, but we'll see.
I'm using option 1 - $200 is ridiculous, and I didn't buy a camera with 10-bit 4:2:2 and a strong codec to shoot in AVCHD
If it's any consolation, Avid and even Sony Vegas will not import them either.

  • Can't open any video files anymore

Had no issues and then suddenly any video file that I bring in won't show up but instead I get a grey box with a red and green arrow.  If I double click I get a box to find the file again but even if I point to the file again it dosn't show up. If I try to drag and drop on the timeline i get a message that it can't find the file even though the file exists and will open in Windows, Quicktime, etc.

Is there any way to force an install the latest from nVidia or is this a bad idea?
A previous poster with a Toshiba posted how he installed a generic driver. If I recall it was
    Uninstall the graphics driver.
Remove the display driver from Device Manager.
Reboot declining prompts to install a driver.
    Run the generic installer program.
I'll see if I can find the original post, I had it in my clipboard manager but that has the unfortunate habit of killing off its database every few months

  • Can't open my video files on PC computers

Hi, may be it was already discussed here but I couldn't find a topic.
I made a page in iWeb that includes a few video files (saved as .mov and .wmv). When I open this published web page on my Mac - everything seems to be fine, but PC (Windows) users can't run these videos on their computers.
Does anybody know what encoding should be to solve this problem?
    thank you,
    Vlad

    Thank you,
All PC computers that can't see video files have
    QuickTime 7 installed.
I tried to save video in flash format too but it
    made
my files bigger and quality worse besides I can't
control video on the web page because it starts
    over
and over again. I can't stop or pause.
May be I should try to change code on every page
    like
    they recommend here:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/video/format/windows-media
    /streaming/
    but it'll be painful...
    Vlad
Vlad Here is a SUPER SIMPLE solution for your dilema
You need to make a non-movie page, any will do. Start
your movie and take a photo of it with shift-apple-4.
This will give you an image of the movie and also the
Windows Media Player frame. Place this image on your
page, give it a title etc and make sure the image is
selected. Using the inspector, chose Link to File.
When you do this, navigate to the wmv file that
corresponds. When you upload your site, that file
will be stored along with it and when the link is hit
the wmv movie will launch in the windows media player
    automatically for your PC friends.
    Hope that helps
PS to last post if you have a program like "cleaner" your encoding should be
Windows Media >NTSC> 256K Streaming> 320X240> 30 fps that should result in about 1 Megabyte per minute of video with an "ok" quality if you want a better quality move up to "small" or medium" download will result in bigger files but better quality play with it till you are happy with the result.
