Can't open Acrobat 6.0

I can't open Acrobat 6.0. When I try to, I see the splash screen, but it never opens. (This started when I was scanning pictures to a file. I was able to scan the pictures, but Acrobat never opened.) I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 6.0. I updated to Acrobat 6.0.6. I tried the repair option in Add/Remove Programs. Is there anything else I can do?

What operating system? As I understand what you are saying, it worked fine until the scan and it has not worked since, or have you made some major systems changes since the scan?

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall. Uninstall Acrobat XI/ Reader XI on your system before you do.

  • Can't Open Acrobat Reader

Can't open Acrobat Reader. Got a Windows error due to system problem, Windows automatically closes it.

    It says...
    Adobe Reader has stopped operation
"Because something has happened, causing the application not to operate normally, Windows will shut down the application, should there be any resolution to it will let you know."
Even if I uninstall the Adobe Reader and re-install it again, the same error message happens.

  • I installed CS6, including Acrobat Pro, now I can't open Acrobat or PDF documents.

I installed CS6, including Acrobat Pro, now I can't open Acrobat or PDF documents. All other CS6 applications are available. The icon for Acrobat just shows the internet explorer icon.

There is a special procedure for Acrobat as part of CS. It goes something like opening one of the other applications and activating, then opening Acrobat (I think the others need to stay open) and activating it. It seems like a strange procedure and is likely documented in your info -- but I can't say for sure.

  • Can't open Acrobat Pro 9 with Photoshop cs5 open

For some reason I can't open pdf files or even the Acrobat application while photoshop cs5 is open.  As soon as I shut it down I can open the file no problems.  I'm assuming it has something to do with how much memory photoshop is using, but I've never had this problem before with any previous versions.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

I've noticed two ways it misfunctions
    1) Photoshop is open
    2) I try to open acrobat by either using the quick launch icon that has always worked in the past, or by opening a pdf file either in a folder or as a link on the web.  It will not open and offers no error message.  It merely 'dings' at me like when you try to click on something in a doc when you've got another window open and u need to press ok or cancel before you can do anything else.
    or
    1) I've already got acrobat open
    2) I open photoshop ok
    3) I go back to acrobat and try to do something like print and the program crashes and shuts down... no error message.
Opening at the original exe doesn't change anything.  Acrobat works fine when photoshop isn't open.

  • Can't Open Acrobat Pro XI after scanning documents

I recently installed Acrobat Pro XI on my Windows 7 system. Upon start-up, Acrobat Pro XI opens and closes fine.  However, when I use my Fujitsu scanner without having an Acrobat document open, I am no longer able to open Acrobat. The scanner will create the PDF document, but the PDF document will not open up or appear on my screen immediately following the scan. Instead, I get periodic pop-up messages stating "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server." I can open PDF documents with  Nitro PDF Creater after this occurs, but not with Acrobat Pro XI. The only way that I can correct the problem is to restart my computer. Following the restart, Acrobat Pro XI will open again. However, I must have Acrobat open again before I use my Fujitsu scanner or the problem will reappear.  Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

I have read about the DDE server issue in other posts so you might search for it. I think there may be a knowledgebase article about it.
When this problem occurs, open the tasks list (ctrl-alt-del>tasks) and be sure there is not residual of Acrobat sitting around. That may be what has happened, or maybe some other application is lingering there. Be aware that a few tasks like AcroTray should be running as they enable the PDF creation process.

  • Can't open acrobat Pro

I have a new subscription account and have had no problems with Illustrator and Photoshop but when I tried to launch Acrobat it closes down and pops up a user agreement window that is blank and can't be gotten past.
Can you give me a clue for how to fix this problem. I'd like to be able to open acrobat.

Are you subscribed to the Creative Cloud?  If so please try the steps listed in Blank EULA screen appears on Acrobat XI launch - http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/blank-eula-screen-appears-acrobat.html.

    1. When I try to save my document as a pdf, it is in 'preview' format only.

    3. I do have a new printer. An epson CX6000. I have 'added' the acrobat 7.0 to the printer list.
    4. My operating system is unchanged: mac 10.4.11.
    5. I cannot locate my disc to reinstall....

  • Can't open Acrobat pdf files in document library - SBS 2011

I've uploaded some Acrobat PDF files to a document library in the companyweb (SharePoint 2010 Foundation website) on SBS 2011. But if I click on one of them in the standard view, acrobat opens and displays a message “The URL you have provided could not be
reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable.” I'm using Acrobat Reader XI 11.0.2 and Internet Explorer 10.
I have tried a few suggested solutions, eg to edit the docicon.xml file to include <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="AdobePDF.png" OpenControl="AdobeAcrobat.OpenDocuments"/>, check that the WebClient service is running, and
Use Remote Interfaces permission is set on the SharePoint site. But no luck.
I don't know if this is a problem with SBS 2011, or Acrobat, or Internet Explorer. Interestingly the pdf opens OK in Chrome. It looks like it is trying to edit the document instead of open it in the acrobat reader.
    Anyone know of a solution?

I have found one possible solution. In my case the site was brought into Sharepoint Foundation 2010 as a migrated site from a previous SBS installation.
The site was imported as http://servername and the IIS site had a host header with companyweb so that users could browse to it, and all references to the site were as http://companyweb
All my attempts to open the PDFs were using the http://companyweb URL.
I was researching the issue and had gone through everything, but one thing got me thinking when some sites suggested that I look at the permissive or strict browser file open settings. I looked at the web application and it was set to http://servername in
the Central Administration site. I thought hmm let's try opening the Adobe PDF docs with that URL instead, and it worked!
So I changed the web application URL to http://companyweb and tried again and hey presto it's now working.
I really hope this helps someone, it took me a good couple of hours of my day researching to find the solution here.
Some extra info: we are using Adobe Reader 11.0.6 with IE11. Testing with Firefox worked, but that opens the document by downloading it locally and then using Adobe Reader. fix The above actually resolves the problem, it's nothing to do with permissive or strict
file open settings, I set the SP site back to strict and PDFs still open fine.

  • Can't open Acrobat 9 Pro or Distiller after installation

    All seemed fine:
Installation by Drag and Drop, done
    Entering the Product key, Done
    Entering Registration Informations, Done
But since that Acrobat 9 Pro does nothing. I only see the "buisy" mouse pointer, which is the turning watch, but Acrobat does not respond anymore, but takes about 60% of CPU.
In Finder I get the information message, that the programm does not respond anymore, so I only can kill that process...
    Same with Adobe Distiller....
    Any guess? THX
MacBook Black, 2,1 GHz, 2GB Ram and runnig Mac OS 10.5.6

    Well,
it wasn't a permission, it wasn't administrator... it simply was the company proxy server.
After installation, Acrobat allways wants to send the registration form by HTTP to Adobe.
Now the problem is, that our Proxy needs an authentification. Acrobat uses the entry in the keychain, but still cannont connect the port of Adobe, because this port ssems to be shut by our company system.
So I disabled all network ports on the system preferences, and restarted acrobat again. Now Adobe claims, that it is unable to send the registration, because of missing an active internet connection and want's a user choice, for send now, send later or cancel. I choosed send later and acrobat start up without any problems later.
Now I was going to the help menue, and disabled the automatical update process and automatical registration process.
Now Acrobat runs like a charm....

  • Can't open Acrobat in CS5

I don't use Acrobat very often, so I was surprised when I tried to open it recently and got the "Acrobat was installed as a suite, please open another application first" message.  I have been using CS5 for months now, many of the other applications.  Does anyone know how to launch Acrobat without having to uninstall and reinstall CS5?

Unfortunately, that didn't help.  I guess I'll have to try uninstalling...

  • Error Message on Web Premium Suite while opening Acrobat that Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a Suite

Can not open Acrobat Pro 9 out of my adobe creative suite 4 web premium.  Keeps giving an error message. Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite.  To enable Adobe Acrobat start another component of this suite.  I am running Windows 7 64 and already have the CS6 Premium Production Suite loaded on my computer.  I really don't need to load all of the Web Premium since I have upgraded to CS6 programs but still need the Acrobat.  My hard drive crashed and I've had to start all over again.  This is the only glitch and it's becoming very frustrating.
Can't find a link to actually speak to someone at Adobe.

you'll need to install and open some other 32 bit cs4 app.

  • I am unable to open Acrobat X in Windows 7

I am unable to open Acrobat X in Windows 7. The shortcut appears on the desktop but when I click it nothing happens. Same from the program list. Just re-installed from cd but still nothing.

Since you can not open Acrobat (assume there were no errors shown with the installation and this is a new installation), then go to Control Panel>Programs & Features and select Acrobat. Select the uninstall/change. Along the way you should be provided an option to repair -- do that. If you like, you can also download the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and install them in order.

  • Opening Acrobat in Mac

I am very puzzled why I can't open Acrobat 9 Pro in my Mac without double clicking a pdf file first.
For example, if I want to create a pdf Portfolio I have to open Acrobat with any stray pdf file on my desktop and then activate the Portfolio features  ??

Go to File menu and open a a PDF  then see what shows up. They started using this dumb design in Acrobat 8. version 7 it shows the menu items and the the various menu bar items. see this:

Now after you open a file you'll something similar to this:
