Can't Open Administration Panel In FCS client

I had to re-install my server and final cut server. I was successful in restoring the backup of final cut server and all the files are there but I can not access the administration panel in the client. I have logged in with both accounts that have administrative privileges in final cut server and when I click administration I get a blue spinning ball that never goes away and the panel never opens up. If I log in with an account that does not have privileges the administration label is greyed out. (I have let it sit for a while to no avail)
I imagine this has to do with restoring the backup. I checked the groups in the Final Cut Server application (not the client) and they seem to be set up correctly. Is there a way to trash preferences or something that could reset final cut server.
I don't want to install the whole thing over and re-import all my footage, mostly I don't want to re-do all the metadata mapping I have already set up.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you so much. Sorry for the late reply, I have been under the hood making everything work. When I first installed FCS I had used the directory UID of 1000. (I did not pick it, but it was the account made for me by OSX Server) When I re-installed my osx server I used advanced mode and was given the UID of 501. After talking with apple I find 501 is the local directory, and 1000 is the network directory (probably not correct phrase). I changed the UID to 1000 (bad idea my folders disappeared, but I could log into the administration panel. I did not have a great solution so I changed it back to 501 and installed FCS from scratch. It was the best thing I ever did as everything works smoking fast and very well. Thanks for all your help. Incidently, rescanning files to make productions and using a search expired to set metadata is a very fast and efficient workflow I will document in a post for everyone.

Hi, everytime I try to install Final Cut Studio 2 on my Mac Book Pro (10.6.2), I get this message:
The installer is damaged.
The installer can't open the package. There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions.
When i run Disk Utility, the package seems to have no problems. I'm sure the dmg is not corrupted since I was able to install this on my iMac G5 (10.5).

Locate the original disks and make a new dmg. I've had to do this occasionally. Not sure why the installer disk image breaks, but it does. In fact, I've had more problems with the Adobe disk images I've made. They seem to install once, and then break, which totally defeats the purpose of making them. The FCS dmgs I've made have lasted a while, and I've used them about 6 or 7 times. But I did have to recreate them twice in 3 years.
If it says the installer can't use it, best bet is, you won't be able to fix it. One thing you could try though, copy them to a desktop and then run them. It could have to do with trying to run them over a managed network.

Can't Open Source Panel

I closed my iPhoto source panel, for some dumb reason that I can't remember, and now I can't get it to reopen. When I click on the little dot, I get the little opener icon, which I can move, but it won't work to open the panel. The only thing I HAVEN'T done is to try restarting my computer. So, I'm going to do that now, and be back to either ask for help, or say never mind.

Move the cursor to the extreme left of the iPhoto Window until it becomes a '+', then click and drag right
or
trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

Help! Can't open side panel of power mac G4! I need in there!

Hi, I just bought a powermac G4 for my retired parents and they need to hit the reset button but can't open the side panel to get in. They have tried moving the lockable cover latch and pulling the side handle but it seems to be jammed. Any suggestions. They live 400 miles away in Scotland so I can't try anything myself. Heellllppp!

Well, no one else has replied, so I'll make a suggestion.
Place the left side of the G4 on the floor. Now push down quite hard on the top (right side) panel near the pull-up lever with one hand while pulling up on the lever. Hopefully the side panel will release.

How can i open front panel of a vi and run it

I have a vi that i call multiple times from another vi, however i want it to open the front panel on some calls and not on others. What is the best way to do this?
I have come up with a way and was wondering if this method was okay or is there another method that might work better escepcially since i am eventually going to create an application out of it and hope that no problems pop up then
Unititled 1 calls Untitled 2 where with one call it opens and runs Untitled 2 while with the other call it simply runs untitled 2.vi
What I did was i changed untitled 2.vi window appearance to dialog but i deselected the show front panel when called, so by simply calling the subvi form untitled 1 it works. Unititled 2 runs but does not open
Now with another call i want to open and run untitled 2.vi so by looking the attached vi you can see what i have done
Again if there is a better method that would make my vi's more efficient i would greatly appreciate it.

What you did, in theory, is the correct way to do it. However, you should move the front panel open and close into Untitled2.vi and have a boolean input as to whether to show the front panel or not. This way, your calling code is cleaner, and you don't have to reproduce the code everytime you want to call the subVI and show the panel.
If you were to use Untitled2 in another project, then you woud have to go back and look how to implement the showing of the front panel in your other code. If later, you were to decide you want that VI to be maximized, then you make one change in the VI, and not in every place you ever call it showing the front panel.

When I go in tools - options I can't open the panel "advanced", it's unactive, what's wrong?

Can not open front panel sub VI when running an application VI.

When I create an application of my program a problem occurs. When I select options (press a button or so) from the main front panel that should result in a popup menu (sub VI cal) LabVIEW indicates that something is happening but the front panel does not open. The mouse indicator changes to the time glass so LabVIEW is doing something but the window of the sub VI does not open.
The problem has the same characteristics on several places. There are some sub VI front panels that opens but I ca not find the reason for why these open and not other.

there are three ways trhough which you can force a subVI to show its front panel
1. open the perticular SUB VI
click File->VI properties select window appearence catagory.
click customize button and select "Show Front Panel when called" and "close afterwads if originally closed" check boxes
save the VI
whenever you use this Sub VI every time it will pop up front panel
2. dont perform the changes suggested in option 1. place the instance of subVI in your main application and if you want that instance to popup a front panel then right click on subVI and Select "SubVI Node Setup" again select "Show Front Panel when called" and "close afterwads if originally closed" check boxes
with this option only certain instances of SUB VI will cause pop up to occur
3. this is the most flexible option. use invoke node to show front panel. in invoke node select show front panel method to popup the VI and use close front panel method to close the pop up window.

Can't open control panel, my computer, etc. Help please!

I just did an install of windows 7 on my macpro and everything seemed to go smoothly until it was all done and windows launched, i tried to open the control panel and i get an error message saying that
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I also cannot launch Windows Explorer to simply browse files as it gives me the same message.
Help is much appreciated.

What did you install? and where (edu, ISO you burned, retail) as well as Pro, Ultimate or Home Premium? 64-bit?
I take it this was a complete clean install. Not an upgrade DVD or an upgrade from Vista.
Did you install on its own drive?
Use Boot Camp Assistant (only needed if you put Windows on Mac OS drive).
Tried reboot off the DVD.
And, did you get far enough to install updates and drivers? Apple Setup (Boot Camp, off your OS X DVD)?

Can I open a recordset On Client Side Script?

Hi Guys,
On a form I have a client side VBscript thet checks the email
addy a user has added into a text box in a form and if its in the
array of values set in the script it gets refused. This works.....
I would like to adapt this a little if possible and make it
so that instead of hardcoding the array values into the script, I
would like to have the array values taken from a recordset because
it will allow the user to add and delete bad domains via a form and
not need to go into the page code to add to the array I have at the
moment.
I have tried serval times to replace my array loop with a
recordset while loop to get the badDomains from the field in the
database but I just get script error on page in my task bar.
Can I open a recordset from a client side script?
Id apprecaiate eny thoughts on how I can do this.

I have tried to get my client script to run but im still just
not getting it although I dont think im far away, mixing client
side and server side scripts to get this array loaded is still
throwing me a bit !!!!!!

Can Not Open PDF Attachments

I can not open PDF attachments from outlook 2010. I am running windows 8 and using Adobe version 11.0.2 If I save the file to desktop, then it will allow me to open it and print it.

If you can't open the attachment, have your client/ customer or whatever fix their defective copy of Outlook and send real mail attachments not TNEF encoded rubbish. They are spewing defective email every time they click send on a mail with an attachment.

clients send pdf attachments usually electrical drawings for bid and a winmail.dat pdf file shows in attachment. I click on and error message says can not open this type file. I have adobe reader Why?

Can you please check if any error being reported in errors file under (C:\Program Files\Oracle\WebServer7\<instance-name>\logs).
Also verify the process and the try modifying the port from 8989 to 8888 and see if it helps.
you can modify the port on which it listen to in server.xml located in (C:\Program Files\Oracle\WebServer7\<instance-name>\config

Can't Open Server Manager - don't have System Administrator Rights

Hi,
I am new to BPC
After i updated the support patch to BPC 7.5 MS SP3 , pack level 2
and Restart the server
Then Server Manager can't open again.
Error Message :
This ID (xxxxxx) don't have System Administrator Rights; you must log on with a user ID that has system administrator privileges
But I have logon the user which is used to install BPC
I have try to restart the service, but it is not working .
Any method reset it ? or solve it?

Can't open secured documents on windows 7 domain client with mandatory profiles.

While opening certain PDF files we have the problem that the user is presented with a message that he does not have the rights permissions. This happens twice, after that the users gets an empty page with the message the Adobe version might not be up to date. We use Acrobat Pro 10, but this also happens while using Reader 11.0.8. On our windows 2008 terminal services machine this could be fixed by giving the user rights on c:\ to create and remove a file. :O. On windows 7 this doesn't work probably because of UAC. But we've tried every solution to that available on the internet, disabling uac, changing uac options, changing rights on userprofile folders, changing rights on c:\ but to no avail. When using process explorer we can see it wants to create a temp file p328hkl.tmp or something like that on C but it can't and immediattely after is shows the error on screen.
Anyone who also has this problem or solved it? There are no problems with simple self made pdf files/scans but only with certain types of pdf files for which it tries to create a tmp file.

Thanks for your reaction. We do have AppData redirection in place. We redirect AppData to a share on our data server which works perfectly fine for all other applications. The weird thing is that Reader/Acrobat try to write to C:\ which to my knowledge should not happen, is this maybe a fallback because it can’t write to a different location? Users have full control on their own roaming AppData but not on their local AppData that is made by windows itself while copying the mandatory default profile to C:\.
I might use the wrong term while saying secured documents. I’m talking about a document created by Raet/Youforce a web application for personal administration. The documents can be opened by other viewers than Acrobat/Reader but then only contain the background and not the text. In Acrobat/Reader they do open normally when Acrobat/Reader can create the .tmp file. Otherwise it will not display the file at all. I would attach such a document to see but since it contains certain info I am not allowed to do so.
I hope we can work out a solution for this.
