Can't Open An Existing Project in iDVD

I've prepared an iDvd project saved it and when ever I run iDvd and select "open an existing project" it just freezes and only gives me the option to "Force Quit". It allows me to create a new project but I can't open my existing one. Can anyone help. I hope I don't have to start it all over again.

Have you tried deleting iDVD's preference file?
Close iDVD. Go to your Home folder(YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.idvd.plist
Drag this plist file to the trash. iDVD will create a new fresh one when you reopen it.
Open iDVD, and see if this problem is resolved.
If not, try signing on as a new account. Go to system preferences, account.
If that resolves the problem, then it is not the software. Post back for more assistance with this.
If neither of these helps, you may have to reinstall iDVD. Again, post back if you get to this point and want assistance with reinstalling. You will need to find your original iLife installation disks, or the Mac installation disks if iLife was preinstalled on your computer when you purchased it.

    Hi
Did You alter anything in the movies or materials that built Your DVD project.
eg clicked on Update Project button -
If so - this is a BUG - and only way around it as I know of is to start all over
in iDVD and a new project.
Jumping from iDVD to iMovie to correct and then back - DOESN'T WORK - Apple know's about it !
    else
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    iDVD pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
    iDVD updated ?
    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions

  • X-Code 5.0.2 crashing in Mavericks 10.9 when opening an existing project

Just updated X-Code to 5.0.2 and now it crashes when I try to open an existing project. Seems to OK when a new project is started though.
    What am I doing worng?

I had the same issue then I found out all you have to do is to set the default view to List before opening any previous or new project and it worked, credit goes to this user below who found the solution.
    ahmedMac25
I was able to resolve by workaround:
    1. Closed all open applications
    2. relaunch Finder
    3. run  sudo find / -name ".DS_Store"  -exec rm {} \;
    4. this removes all  .DS_Store old files on the computer
    5. launch finder and set default view to "LIST VIEW" as shown here:http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/ss/Setting-Finder-Views-For-Folders-And-Su b-Folders_2.htm
    5. rerun the offending application and file chooser works

  • When I opened iweb it opened as a file I deleated. I have a published website with godaddy and would like to update. How can I open the existing iWeb app to the site that is already published?

When I opened iweb it opened as a file I deleated. I have a published website with godaddy and would like to update. How can I open the existing iWeb app to the site that is already published?

You cannot retrieve the already published site as iWeb CANNOT open it - it has no import facility.
You need your domain.sites file, which you can find under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  You do not need any kind of account for this because it is your domain.sites file that resides on the hard drive of your Mac anyway.  Find this file and you can alter your website.
Use a spotlight search to try and find it and if this does not work you can download something called Find Any File.  If you really can't find it, then you'll have to start from scratch because iWeb cannot open a site that is already published.

  • I can not open my iMovie project

I can not open my iMovie project. Everytime I click on it, the spinning wheel keeps spinning and spinning until I force quite the iMovie. Please help?

OK Let's take a step back.
If you imported video clips from a camcorder there would be an Events folder in the Movies/iMovie Events/ folder.
You have the option as you import from a camcorder to send your Event to an external drive instead. In this case, it would be in the iMovie Events folder at the top level of the external drive.
If your project has no video clips, but only photos, there may be no events folder, only links to iPhoto.
Similarly, if your camera imported your video clips to iPhoto, and you used the iPhoto event in iMovie, then your clips are in iPhoto, and there is no separate iMovie event.

  • Opening an existing project in PE12 elements editor.

When I attempt to open an existing project in PE12 Elements Editor, a new project opens instead. If I attempt to close the new project, it freezes and must be force closed.

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?

  • Open an existing project in Eclipse

Hi, folks. I am really new to Eclipse. I followed a tutorial, created a new porject and few classes within it, that was all fine. Later on, I tried creating another new project while the first one was still opened under "Java prospective". But I could not see any updates under the "Package Explorer", i meant there was still the first project's package shown alone.
I tried closing the extire Eclipse platform and double clicking the PROJECT File under workspace\secondProject directory to open the second project, but what was shown in Eclipse was still the first project alone.
Could anyone please point me out what is the correct way of doing it? Thanx in advance.

To open your project in secondProject just create a new javaproject in Eclipse and set its path to ...\workspace\secondProject. Eclipse will then find the .project file and open the existing project.

  • Can I open an imovie project from an external hard drive on a different computer than my own? If so how?

Can I open an imovie project from an external hard drive on a different computer other than my own? If so how?

If you used the Finder to move the files, iMovie will have lost track of them. iMovie holds the locations of the Event files, and Project files contain references to those locations. If you move the files, iMovie has no way of knowing where they are.
If you can, first move all the files back to their original locations. Plug in the external drive. Open iMovie and move the files in iMovie's interface (help explains how, but basically, just drag and drop in the event pane).
Then you can connect the drive to the new computer, and iMovie will see them.

I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and now I cannot open an existing project in ibooks author

The Quicken issue has been a hot topic in the Quicken forum as well as many others.  Intuit did not provided an updated Quicken when Lion came out.  I believe that within the past month Intuit has announced a version that does work in Lion, I looked into it, but was not impressed; there were some technical issues that prevent me from using it (don't recall the details though).  Fortunately, I found out about the Quicken mess when Lion came out, and like many users, migrated the quicken data files over to a common format that could be imported into a number of new financial apps like iBank.  Intuit lost a lot of Mac users over this.
As for Excel and Word, you have to buy Microsoft's newest version of Office on Mac to be compatible.

  • How can I build an existed project into eclipse IDE?

    Hello, all,
I did not use eclipse IDE before. Someone gave me an completed directory which
was a project (including all classes and source code) built by eclipse IDE. I
want to rebuild it into eclipse on my computer. But eclipse only has "new" item
to generate new project, class, etc. How can I rebuild the exist project in
    eclipse IDE?
I appreciate your help or any suggestion!
    Thanks
    John

    Easiest way:
Copy the folder into the Eclipse Workspace folder
Create the "new" project with the same name as that folder.
Eclipse should detect an existing project with the same name, inform you of this, and proceed from there.

In the previous messages it's written out like this:
Go to MacHD > Users > your home folder > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iMovieApp.plist (drag that to the trash)
This method didn't work for me, I've created an alternate thread for mi case. I'd appreciate any other alternative.

  • I can't open old IMovie project done with ILife09

I can't open old IMovie project done with ILife09 on my new MacBook Pro Retina with Lion Mountain system.

you can't just move a project that way. It all needs to be contained properly. If you can find the original imovieHD project folder, you can start again.

  • Unable to open existing project in idvd

I have saved a project in Idvd (dvdproj. file), I can locate the project however when I try to open it, it opens a blank project.  I am using idvd ver. 7.04. What am I doing wrong as I don't want to re-create as I have several hours invested in the Idvd project file.

I don't normally use iPhoto, so I imported a QuickTime movie. It shows up in the Media pane in iDVD. Did you create an Album for them?
