Can't open attachment till forwarded

Weird Issue:
If Outlook 2010 is in cached mode I can receive an external email on my phone with an attachment that is greater than 1MB, but as soon as Outlook does its send and receive the email disappears. It is no longer on the phone, it isn't in deleted or recoverable
items... its gone.
If Outlook is in non-cached mode I can receive the email on my phone and in Outlook, but I cannot open the attachment on either device. When I try to open the attachment in outlook I get an Operation Failed error.
If I click Forward on that email then close the new email message that pops up I can go back to the attached email and open it.
This seems to only be attachments greater than 1MB coming from an external email account. Internal emails and attachments work fine.
Our exchange server is a 2003 exchange enterprise server.

I created a new database and tried to move the mailbox to this database and it wouldn't move because it reached the bad item limit. I go back to my mailbox to one of the items it says is corrupt, I try to open it and it and I get an error message that says
Operation Failed. I forward that email and close the new email message that pops up I can then go back to the attachment and then open it.
I'm going to try to do a defrag on the database tonight. if this doesn't fix it I'm thinking about doing a recover /m  and then reattaching the databases to see if this can fix it. My end goal is to get it working long enough for me to transfer all
the mailboxes to an Exchange 2010 server.

I can no longer open excel documents in my doc to go app. Error message simple reads can not open attachment. And the attachment is now a winmail.dat

winmail.dat files usually mean the email has been sent in rich text format - you could either the person who sent it to send it in a different format e.g. plain text or HTML, or there are a few apps in the store that support it (search for winmail.date in the store).

  • OTM can not open attachment with Word Document(*.docx)

With more and more use of Word Document(*.docx) (version 2007). OTM (Oracle Test Manager) can create an attachment with it, but can not open attachment with Word Document(*.docx). Is this a problem for anyone else? Any wok around?
    Thanks
    Katherine

I am using OTM version 9.2 and the Word document (*.docx) attachment can be opened in this.
For being able to open a docx file, try to attach an word document from the file option in the Requirements, Test or Issue tabs in OTM , once you upload the file, please check if location is " in Database" Else click update DB and upload the document.
Once the attachment is attached to the Attachment section in the right pane, clicking on the attachment will open the *.docx document.
    This has worked for me.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
Can you save them ? What are the file formats (after .) of the attachments. Depending the file formats, you need software to be able to open them (most of them are free).

  • Can't open attachment on calendar...sort of

Mountain Lion and iCloud sure are weird! I just created an event in Calendar on my Mac. I attached a pdf to the event. Click on it and the attachment opens--very nice. Now I look at the event on my iPhone. I click on the attachment and I'm told I can't open this type of file. Oh, maybe if I change the file on my mac to a Preview file. I open get info and change the file to open with Preview. I try to open the file with Preview on my mac. I get the shocker message that my settings prevent opening a file with a program from an unknown developer. I know how to get around that, but really, is Apple Computer an unknown developer?
So I open Preview and save the file to iCloud. But when I click on the attachment in the event on my iPhone, it still can't open it.
Now, to be clear, I've never much used attachements to calendar events, but it seems like a nice feature. And I never knew that events on the iPhone even showed the attachments, although it seems that there's no way to add an attachment on the iPhone itself. But this whole episode makes it clear to me that Mountain Lion and iCloud are nothing more than a work in progress that hasn't been fully thought out and is full of holes. Is this the first Apple beta of a complete operating system? Are we all just testers?

It took me a little bit to get mine off too.  After unscrewing the 7 screws, for some of them I used a tiny flat head screwdriver to pry them from underneath the screwhead back and forth to get it to pop up.  Eventually I got them up.  Weird thing is after getting everything back together I heard a noise in my laptop.  I took the screws out again (much easier the second time) and 3 tiny metal screw clips fell out of the machine.  I don't think these are necessary and were probably a large reason they were so hard to get out in the first place.  Can anyone shed some light on these and whether I should even try to locate the screws they came from.

  • SRM can not open attachment after unicode conversion

    Hi,

After we convert to unicode, some attachment in SC and PO can not be openned,  these attachment file name include some chinese. If the attachment file name is all English, no problem to open it.
I think it is the cause by unicode conversion, do you have any idea what is the root of this problem?

  • Can't open attachment in xls format

Hi folks, hope someone can lead me to a solution.
    I use Mail 1.3.11
Just received an attachment in Excel (?) - the title is Book1.xls, and when I tried to open it I was told that my trial period had run out.
I tried using Stuffit Expander, no luck.
I tried Neo Office >Open Document. Got gibberish (beginning with Stuffit!)
Tried Exporting as PDF... and send to myself. Three tries, but none has been delivered yet, although the "airplane" sounded and they show in the "sent box." They are now titled Book1.xls_0.pdf.
Twice, however, they have re-appeared in the "drafts box."
I tried opening the draftPDF attachment, got the same gibberish. Tried moving it to the desktop, then opening it. Gibberish.
What am I missing? Is there a possibility of opening this thing? It is very embarrasing as a client sent it.
    With hope,
    Patricia
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   also OS 9 LaCie burner

Hi, Patricia. If the file came to you with a .sit filename extension, it needs to be expanded by Stuffit Expander before you try to open it in NeoOffice. In that case it should expand to something with an .xls extension. Dragging and dropping the .xls file onto NeoOffice's icon, OR opening NeoOffice and then opening the file from the File menu, should open the .xls file without any problem if the file is intact. If it opens to gibberish using both of those methods, the file is corrupt: perhaps damaged in transit, perhaps corrupt at its point of origin. Ask the sender to confirm that it opens correctly at his end, and then to send it to you again.

  • MS Web Outlook - can't open attachment with Safari

I am using Web Outlook at work to access mail - via Safari 3.1 on my MacBook Air -
Anytime I try and open an attachment of any type (.xls, .pdf, etc) it says I must right click and save attachment to my hard disk. When I try and do that, I get nothing.
Is there a security change I must do? I have unchecked the block pop ups in Safari - any suggestions?

--Bee: No difference with CNN. Also followed your instructions, i.e., "Safari Preferences > Security >Show Cookies. Type in the name of your credit union. Then select "Delete all" that show up. RESTART Safari. (This is important)."
I typed in the "Https" address of CU and followed your cues -- there was no pop up "delete all" -- so I just killed all refs to CU in the cookie jar. But still couldn't open via Safari. However, I noticed right in front of the HTTPS address using Chrome there is a little green lock followed by green HTTPS letters, which suggested to me that maybe only Chrome can open this (????) Unfortunately, there is an orange lock followed by the word "secure" when I tried to open CU via Opera which cannot open it either. Mystified. No lock on Firefox or Safari. BTW, my computer is showing signs of schizophrenic behavior. In my mail there is a NOTE feature where I mark down certain things, but the last two times I used it today it mailed the note to my in box. Perhaps this behavior is a sign of a darker more serious malady. Steve

  • Can't open attachment but can see contents

I have received into Mail an email which was forwarded by BlackBerry from the original recipient. The attachments are three Word documents, sent to the original recipient and forwarded to me as part of the original email.
I cannot open the Word attachments from the downloaded email. When I try to do so, Word opens, but the underlying document does not open. I can see them in Quick Look, so the text has reached my Mail account. Also, they are on my MobileMe account online, and I have been able to download the attachments from MobileMe directly into Downloads and then open them in Word with no difficulty.
I have had no problems opening Word attachments in Mail emails, just this one.
Also, if I open Mail on my Powerbook (Tiger), I can open these attachments from Mail in the normal way. So it seems to be a Snow Leopard problem.
    Has anyone any suggestions?
    Thanks

Same problem here but with picture attachments!!!

  • Can't open attachment in yahoo email

when I get an attachment in yahoo I use to be able to open-box would pop up to ask if I want to save to computer and box would open and give me a choice of: open, save or cancel. Now I get save to computer or save to dropbox. When I say save to computer
nothing happens. I tried save to dropbox but all I get is a box that says save big files to dropbox and circle that runs and never downloads to dropbox. I would like to get back to the box that gave me a choice right on the computer.  How do I get that
    back.

    Hi,
What is included in this attachment? If it was detect as threat, it can be block by security software, such as antivirus. So i suggest you disabling those security software temporarily.
If this issue persisits, please re-try in No Add-on mode to exclude the impact of 3rd add-ons.
    Thanks!
