Can't open Canon 70D RAW in PSE 11?

I am using PSE 11 with ACR 7.4. I just bought a Canon 70D and PSE will not open the RAW files (.cr2) produced by this camera. Where can I download the ACR update that will let me open my 70D RAW files? Thanks.

The 70D needs ACR 8.2 for full support.
So far there is not an installer for ACR 8.2 hosted by PSE11, just Photoshop-CS6 and PS-CC. PSE12 should be out any day now, and if recent history is a guide, Adobe does not update Elements at the end of its lifecycle. I suspect this is because it would take further resources for testing that Adobe would rather spend on other tasks.
Besides paying for PSE12 when it is available, your choices for Adobe raw processing are to download and use the DNG Converter 8.2 to make DNG files out of your CR2 files which can be opened in your older ACR plug-in, or perhaps take a little more of a jump and use Lightroom for your raw conversion, still being able to do Edit in Elements with Lightroom Adjustments for any final processing. You could run LR in trial mode for 30 days to decide if you like it.

How to open canon 70D RAW files in Lightroom 4?

I have udated LR 4 to LR 4.4. It is supposed to open the newer Canon camera RAW files like the 70D. After updating with the download from Adobe LR ver. 4 will still not open the 70D RAW files. Does anyone have any suggestion? I must be doing something incorrect or am missing a step to the update. Thanks!

You have a choice to upgrade to Lightroom 5.6 or use the DNG convertor to convert the CR2 files to DNG and import.

I'm using windows XP and Lightroon 2.7, and am having problems opening Canons 6D RAW files, I can use CS6 but I like LR better.

You need LR4 to open file from 6D. And LR4 doesn't run under win XP.

Can someone help? I have just bought a Canon 70D but my copy of Photoshop Elements 9 won't read the raw files. It was OK with the raw files from my 450D. I have tried downloading the upgrade to raw 6.5 (although I'm not sure that is what will solve it) but when I try to do so Internet explorer can't cope and my computer flashes on and off until I have to hard boot. I would like to just submit this question to Adobe but I can't find a way to do so! (I have tried)

The EOS 70D was first supported by Camera Raw 8.2 (current version).

PSE9 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.5 - so PSE9 won't open your Raw files

So you either need to upgrade to PSE12 (to open and edit the Raw 70D files in PSE)
or convert your Raw files to DNGs using Adobe's free DNG converter then edit the DNG files in PSE9.

CAN NOT OPEN CANON EOS20D RAW FILE IN PHOTOSHOP CS2

I had Photoshop CS2 installed on my PC some years ago and could open my raw files from my canon eos 20d. I changed the hard drives in my pc to solid state drives and had to reinstall photoshop cs2. I could not activate photoshop as it was too old a version so I had to download from adobe website with their activation code. Now, I can not open any of my canon eos 20d files. I have taken some now photos just a few days ago and the problem still arises. I get the message that it does not recognise this type of file. Any ideas?

Can't open canon g16 raw files. I have updated to Adobe camera raw 8.2 and am working with PS CS6.

Here is my issue, I can't open the Raw files from my new Canon G16. I have run all the Photoshop updates and even installed the Camera raw 8.2 update but still cannot open my raw files. The will open in Canons digital photo professional program so I know they are not broken files. I have even installed the DNG converter and they will not even open with that. What am I doing wrong? I bought this camera specifically for the ability to shoot in raw. My canon 60d raw files work fine.

Why on Earth did you upgrade only to ACR 8.2 ?
The current version of ACR is ACR 8.4. You should ALWAYS update to the latest version. Once a camera model is supported, it will be supported in all subsequent releases of ACR.
Beside new camera support, each ACR update contains any number of unannounced, unheralded bug fixes, improvements and enhancements.
What is the exact version of your OS and of your Photoshop CS6? For instance, if you're on a Mac, you should be running Photoshop CS6 13.0.6. I can't remember offhand what the latest version for CS6 is.
Did you install ACR correctly. ACR 8.2 should work for your camera (but update ACR anyway). What version shows up when yo go to About Plug-in… > Camera Raw.
You of course need to relaunch Photoshop, maybe even reboot your machine, and then Purge the Cache in Bridge.

Run Help> Updates. This will install the 8.4 plug-in necessary to open 70D files (first supported in v8.2). This will require W7 or later, XP or Vista won't update to 8.4.

Since moving to a new laptop running Win7 Pro 64 bitI cannot open raw files created by my Canon 500D

In the Editor click Help >About Plug-in >Camera Raw
Make sure you have version 5.4 or higher.
If that’s OK check your display resolution by going to Control Panel >Appearance
Sometimes the camera raw plug-in does not display fully (or properly) if the screen height is set to less than 800. This usually affects netbooks more than laptops.

Adobe's software is a mess in terms of the fact that it's sprayed all over the place and may not survive an OS upgrade. Try reinstalling Photoshop CS5.

PSE can't open Canon .CR2

Hi,
I have recently bought Photoshop Elements 12. I have uninstalled PSE 9 and installed PSE 12 on my Windows 8.1 computer. But it crashes about 80% of the times when I open Canons .CR2 (raw) files from my Canon 550D. Any suggestions, or should I return PSE 12 and reinstall PSE 9 again (which worked fine)?

You need to make sure you have the latest version of ACR which is version 5.6. Some of the Adobe links are not what they seem and lead to earlier versions. Use the download for PSE8; it will work with PSE7.

Sorry but I do not understand what XP or Vista has to do with my question. Stated another way, my question is, does the version of ACR that comes with the version of PSE 12 that is available for purchase at this moment definitely support Canon 70D RAW files?
FWIW, I am running Win 7 Pro 64 bit so PSE 12 will run on my system.
