Can't open current library, changes have been made in a newer version.

I plugged my iPhone into it's dock and iPhoto opened as usual, but then a prompt popped up and said:
"You can't open your current photo library using version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
I understand what it means, but I don't have a newer version of iPhoto, so how did this happen? And, more importantly how do I fix it?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Syncing iphone: Itunes says settings have changed, asks if i want to apply these changes, but no changes have been made?

Itunes 11.3, but this has happened for quite a while, several versions at least. Iphone 5, Ipad 2, this happens with both devices. I sync locally to my macbook pro (late 2011 version, running 10.9.4), using a wired connection.
I will have the 2 devices hooked up via the factory supplied cords. Doesn't actually matter if it's both or just one device. If I have, for instance, the iphone selected via the sidebar, and am displaying the Summary tab, normally you have a sync button to the lower right. Quite often, this will randomly change to two buttons, - Apply, Don't apply, as if I have made settings changes or something, although I haven't. No changes have been made. If I select a different device in the sidebar of itunes, a pop up will open asking me if I want to apply the changes? I say no, all is good. BUT - it's annoying!
Is there any way to make this stop?

ITunes video reloads itself when no selection changes have been made.

Various video content reloads itself on my devices (iPad Air 2, iPad 2, iPhone 5, and iPhone 4) even though no selection changes have been made (no additional video selected, or deleted) between syncs. This issue turns a sync operation that should take less than a minute into 30 minutes or more! Since this issue has manifested itself across multiple devices, the common factor being my MacBook Pro must be the bad link.
Updates of OS and iTunes have not been enough to repair whatever is wrong.... I hope someone has a simple correction. Apple Support at local store, on phone, and Apple Engineering have not been able to help.
I believe I might need to somehow remove iTunes at a minimum (maybe OS too) from my MacBook Pro and rebuild it with best hopes of this issue finally correcting itself. Does anyone know how to go about a clean removal installation of iTunes and/or OS? Any other suggestions?

eeek. there was a hassle with video podcasts and QT 7.0.4 where if a file was corrupted in just the right/wrong way it could crash itunes ... but i hadn't seen one crash an entire PC like that before. (i might have missed reports though.)
is it possible to identify which podcast seemed to be causing you the hassle? or does it seem to happen any time you download any podcast?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Why would you be surprised? You were syncing your Notes with iCloud or a Mail Account. Synchronization means when you make a change on one device, it affects all other devices that are synched for the same purpose. Like when you delete an email (usually) it also disappears from your other devices as well.

Firefox can't open PDF links that have been rewritten in .htcaccess

I have a Wordpress multi-site, and my problem is that Firefox can't open any of the PDFs that I have there. I get a dark-gray screen and it says "This PDF document might not be displayed correctly", but I am able to download it. In .htaccess I have this rewrite rule for files:
RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]
The thing is that if I write the actual path to the file it opens it in preview just fine. Also, Chrome and IE don't have this problem.

In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

How can I reinstall the earlier version that should have been replaced by the new version but has been wiped off of my 10.4.11 and left me with only sufari mac

I attempted to install the new version of Firefox as it would not load my Hotmail account. I clicked 'replace' only to be told the new version could not be installed; I now have no Firefox at all to run on my (10.4.11) Mac Book Pro.
Can anyone let me know if I can reload my previous version of Firefox to use for internet purposes?

Current Firefox versions require an Intel processor, which you have, '''''<u>and</u>''''' OSX 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8, you have OSX 10.4.11.

Can not open iTunes - window says "...created by a newer version of iTunes.

ITunes will not launch....I've been using iTunes with the same settings for over a year. Suddenly today I go to launch iTunes and get the message: The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. How do I fix this so I can get back to using iTunes. I need it desperately for work.

I don't know if this works with Windows, the error occurred on my MAC and I poked around the iTunes folder because I didn't want to be forced to reinstall iTunes.
If you have a folder "Previous iTunes Libraries" under your iTunes folder, you are in luck. Inside that folder is a backup of the last iTunes Libraries. If you copy that into your iTunes folder, rename the current iTunes Library, then rename the file you copied to iTunes Library, it will open - at least it did for me.

Help with LR3: Won't open files in CS4 anymore, no changes have been made

I've searched and read that this has been a problem. Can someone walk me through how to fix it please? LR3 and CS4 haven't been changed, or even used for the last week. It was fine, now today it doesn't work at all. I try to edit in CS4, CS4 opens, but the image never appears. I've tried rebooting, but don't understand what preference files I'm supposed to delete. Any suggestions?

Lightroom uses the equivalent of ACR 6.5 for processing while PS CS4 can only use ACR version 5.x I believe you have the latest one. Therefore some of the adjustments you may have made in LR cannot be read by ACR 5.7. do not have PS CS 4 so I cannot check why it is not working when you select open anyway. Have you recently updated LR.

HP Laserjet P1102w just quite printing. Windows 7 64-bit OS. No changes have been made to system.

Printer just stopped printing. Jobs sit in print queue and won't print even though the printer device box says they are printing. I have tried troubleshooting the printer and all checks out OK. I have rebooted the laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer to no avail. I have run the HP Scan doctor and everything passes....no problems. The wireless blue light is lit and the green light is flashing as it should be.

Can't open iphoto library from external hard drive

I'm backing up my enormous iPhoto library to two external hard drives in order to free up space on my computer. Before deleting the photos permanently from the laptop, I wanted to double-check that the copies of the library I made on the two externals would actually work on another computer, should something happen to my laptop. When I plug my external hard drive into my laptop and use option+click on iPhoto to choose which library I want to use, it opens up the library from the external just fine, no problems. However, when I plug the same external into a different Mac computer and do the same process, I get the immensely frustrating message of "You can't open photo library blah blah blah changes have been made using newer version of iPhoto". However, both my laptop and the second computer are running the exact same version of iPhoto (the most recent), so that can't (or at least shouldn't) be the problem. I found suggestions to rebuild the library, which I did, but the same result occurs. I double-checked to be sure that neither computer needed updates (they didn't).
When I plug one of the externals into the second computer, though, I can open up the package contents of iPhoto library and all the photos are visible, so I know the information is all there. But I don't want to lose my albums, etc.
So do I just delete the copies of my library from the externals and try it all over again? I'd prefer not to, since I have 40,000+ photos, and that takes a while.

To reinforce what Larry pointed out both Macs must be running the same version of iPhoto. And the external HD must be formatted as shown in this screenshot:
