Can't open .docx attachments

I have looked thru list but can't find specifically what I should do about my daughter's computer. She is running 10.4.6 and cannot open attachments from emails with the suffix ".docx". What should we do? Thanks much.

I work with Office products on a PC, not a Mac. However there is a converter available through the Microsoft website for files that are received in 2007 format (.docx) and can be converted to be viewed with earlier versions of Word. I'm not sure if this like will work for a Mac, but this is what I have in my email signature from the college where I work in case someone that doesn't have Word 2007 can convert the files for viewing. Hope this helps you.

  • Can not open docx attachments in the iPhone

I have an end user that when he clicks on an attachment being a .docx or a .pdf that was sent via email all the icon does is blink.
It does not download to where you can open it.
This is on the iPhone 5
I have the same phone and it works correctly on my device.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I can create documents in Mavericks Pages and Keynote. When I attach them to an email and send to others also using Mavericks, they can't open the attachments. Why might this be?

The new Pages v5 (Mavericks) uses a new file format with the same extension name (.pages). Older versions of Pages cannot open these documents unless you first export them as Word (.docx) and send these as Mail attachments. The same is true if you originate an IOS Pages v2.01 .pages document.
You may be sending to people who chose not to install Pages v5 on Mavericks and continue to use Pages ’09 v4.3 instead — especially for the superset of features that are presently not in Pages v5.

  • I can't open .mov attachments in mail with ios 7.1? Please help?

    Hi
Ever since I downloaded ios 7.1 I can't open .mov attachments in my email. I can email a movie file to myself from the same device and when I click to download it, I get a generic icon and it simply goes to a white screen.
I never had this problem until ios 7.1
    Help please?

I my case there is no button - I can't even scroll down. But I also don't get any error message, especially not "domain error 912".
If I try to open the .mov file the screen shows the movie-progressbar (where you can normally scroll through the video) for half a second and then the screen goes gray. In the middle of the gray screen I can see the file name and the text "QuickTime-Film" (german version) and the file size. Underneath is a "play-button" (with no reaction if I click on it) and the buttons for forwarding the movie and the button for airplay. No "Download full message"-button.
Seems that we are having different problems with more or less the same result. Again, it only seems to happen with mail which was sent through MS Exchange and it started with IOS 7.1. Therefore I don't think that we can fix it but I hope that someone from Apple is "listening".
My fault! I misunderstood your posting - I was looking for a "download full message"-Button on the screen AFTER clicking on the movie icon. But you meant the mail itself - and there I found it. Thanx! That also explains why small mail went through without problems but larger didn't.

  • I can't open email attachments on my ipad that have an arrow on them.  Those with a W open just fine. Also can't open jpeg files-- they also have an arrow on them. Any ideas?

Hi, I can't open email attachments that have an arrow on them. Attachments with a W (windows) open just fine. I have an ipad 3. Thanks for any ideas.

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

  • Can Not Open PDF Attachments

I can not open PDF attachments from outlook 2010. I am running windows 8  and using Adobe version 11.0.2  If I save the file to desktop, then it will allow me to open it and print it.
Thanks in advance for yor help.
the error says it can not open the file because it is unsupported or corrupt.

If you can't open the attachment, have your client/ customer or whatever fix their defective copy of Outlook and send real mail attachments not TNEF encoded rubbish. They are spewing defective email every time they click send on a mail with an attachment.

  • TS3899 I can't open some attachments on my iphone or ipad?

I can't open some attachments on my iphone or ipad. The little paper clip shows on the side but there is no attachment or file in the body of the email to click on to. It's not with all emails - all of the time???  This has happened on with older and the new iOS software.

why is it that I can't delete some photos on my iPhone and iPad?
And in addition to gail's list: if you try to delete edited photos in iPhoto, they will remain on your device. To be able to delete them completely, revert the photo to original before deleting.
    See:  http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/2.0/?lang=en#blnkb9b1e2a
If you delete a photo from the Photos app on your device, the photo is deleted in iPhoto (unless the photo has been edited, captioned, tagged as a favorite, or used in a web journal, slideshow, or photo book).

  • TS3276 I can not open gmail attachments  on my iPad, the icon for the file is a down arrow

I can not open gmail attachments  on my iPad, the icon for the file is a down arrow....  that only happend on Gmail account

It could be just an issue with the gmail server. I don't know what settings can be made for attatchments there. I generally leave those messages with large attatchments alone and view them on the computer. I was finding that certain large files like .wmv would sometimes take 5 to 10 minutes to open on the iPad.
Yes it's aggrivating, but I don't have that answer either.
