The direct download is here: Java for OS X 2014-001
Don't know the best way to limit the opening of Java on a Mac, someone here should be able to help you with that.

    rezala,
You should be able to get round the issue altogether without the legacy version (and its security implications), by following this:
    http://oliverdowling.com.au/2014/03/28/java-se-8-on-mac-os-x/
It is even more thoroughly described in this thread, see post #3 on by gator soup:

I recently did a system update and installed Yosemite on my Mac. Now I am unable to open CS5 at all. The error message I get is this: "To open Adobe Photoshop CS5.1, you need to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I have tried downloading this and it still gives me the same mess

In the details it is mentioned that it is an outdated version of Java.
Is this a security risk that i need to live with to get CS5 to run with Yosemite?
Also i need to reject messages from Java in the future about updates, or not?
    thx for any input

with google i can´t find a solution... i hope very much that you can help and tell me what i can do to start scripting with dreamweaver on my iMac with os x 10.8.
now i tried to install the testversion of dreamweaver on another older imac (2,9 GHz Inter Core 2 Duo) with the same os x and it runs. is it possible, that it don´t run on last version of iMac (2,9 GHz Intel Core i5)?
    thanks a lot,

It seems that some versions of Mac OS X don't have Tahoma and Verdana fonts enabled, which prevents Dreamweaver CC from launching correctly. See http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-crash-dreamweaver-cc.html for details of what you need to do.

I'm working on a Mac and when I hit the icon to open the program, it bounces and acts like it is going to open, but then nothing happens.

Have you read this Dreamweaver and Java SE 6 Runtime problem on MAC Mountain Lion OSX?

  • Since I installed yosemite I get a window to install legacy JAVA SE 6 RUNTIME and can't run ADOBE Illustrator Cs6 without it .

So anything LEGACY means it is probably not supported and chocked full of security  issues.
what JAVA flavor do I need to install?
    WHat do I do ?
I have a lot of work to do...

    Hi,
    Try this:
Download Java for Mac OS X 2014-001 from http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572.
Install the Java update using the downloaded .dmg file.
When installation is complete, a Software Update dialog box appears. The dialog box asserts that Java SE 6 Runtime is required to run Adobe Illustrator CS6.
In the Software Update dialog box, click Install.
    Launch Illustrator.
In Adobe Illustrator CS6 some plug-ins has dependency on Java, therefore Java is required for them to function properly.

  • I can't open dreamweaver cs6 because I have OS X 10.9.2

    What have I to do?

    Hi silverstrovicino,
Either it is a ppreferences caching problem for that please try clearing cache http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
Or it can be Java issue. Dreamweaver needs Java SE6 but Mac 10.9 comes with Java SE7.
    For that please follow
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5793240
Please revert if your issue is not resolved.

  • Error message "to open "Adobe Illustrator CS5.1" you need to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime"

    Help?!

    SI,
    You can download here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572
Some have found that the page may turn up blank to start with, so it may be necessary to reload the page.
Others have found that it may depend on browser. Specifically, a switch from Safari has solved it in one case.

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite I can't open Illustrator CS6

Since upgrading to Yosemite I can't open Illustrator CS6 - it gives me an error message saying I need to install Java SE 6.
Of course I have no idea where or how to find the downgrade to legacy Java SE 6 and eveyrtime I put the error into your search bar I get a Dreamweaver How to install Java SE 6 note.... and If I could apply that advice to my  illustrator error I would but I don't get an option to install ...
SIGH I need this to work now-this is my lively hood

I would post in either or both the Photoshop forum here http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/general or the Illustrator forum here http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_general. They will know more about why your Mac does not support these applications.

  • Can't launch Dreamweaver CS6 Cloud

I can't launch Dreamweaver CS6 downloaded from the cloud on my sign-on with a Macbook Pro using Lion. I've talked to Adobe support twice -- first time had me set up a new admin user, which opened the program but hasn't got any of my files, next time had me uninstall, fix permissions and reinstall. Nothing has worked. Other cloud programs are working well. Any ideas?

I believe there is a specific issues with DW's networking stuff used for Business Cartalyst and the Site Panel on some Mac installs. Perhaps you should search and ask in the DW forum...
