I have an email with an attachment that won't open. It told me to sign up for Adobe, which I did, but the attached
still won't open. What do I do?

Do you get an error message when you try to open the PDF attachment? You say you signed up for Adobe; does that mean you get a free Acrobat.com account? Or, did you download and install the free Adobe Reader? If you don't have Reader, please download it from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html and install it. Once it's installed, you should be able to open PDF attachments.

There are a multitude of questions/answers to go through to help you out, but those won't work unless you come to the forums and register an account. For instance, if you are on BES, then you need to go see your BES admins as they are in control. If you are on BIS, then there may be resolution steps you can attempt:
1) Register HRT:
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
2) Resend Service Books:
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

since installing MAC OS 10.7.2 I can not open an type of attachment from emails.

I've been sent an e-mail attachment from Russia to the UK but when I click on 'downdload file' I get the message 'Cannot open file'.
I'm using Windows 7 on a laptop.
Would be grateful for any advice.

Better yet, ask the sender to use a file sharing service (Acrobat Workspaces, Dropbox, Google Drive, ...), then send the download link by email.

The document should open as an email attachment in the mail app. Did you tap on the icon in order to open the file?
However, if you want to save or edit the document, then you will need a Word compatible app on the iPad. pages, Documents To Go, quick Office Pro ... And others are available in the app store.
But you can open and read it right from the mail app as an attachment.

I can't open (show)the attachment pdf or doc in the IPhone 5

When I try to open a mail attachment pdf then the screen chang but I can't see the pdf file. Also with doc and xls. When I open the same mail attachment in my IPad3 iOS6 its working fine.

Hmmmm...... It seems off..... but I also have just realised I haven't actually recieved any files (PDF, Word, Excel etc) since I got my iPhone on Friday.
I'm going to test in now.
(Also on this forum..... 99.9% of the time a hard reset seems to work haha!)

Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time.

Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely and then re-opening it ? From the home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I'm trying to open a .eml file, which seems possible in the Mail app. However, I can't open the Mail app without configuration an email account. I don't have an email account to configure; just want to open the file. Or, let's suppose, I just wanted to browse the interface? How to avoid the account setup part?

Just enter anything short & plausible in as few fields as you can get away with : '[email protected]' works here, you'll get a brief 'not responding' or such at each stage, but it does allow you to use Mail.
