  • I am unable to open emails in hotmail via Firefox but can in Internet Explorer

I can open my hotmail account but cannot open individual emails or delete or compose emails.
I can however do all this in Internet Explorer.
I have ensured I have latest Firefox release (9)

  • Can't open emails in hotmail

I try to access my emails in hotmail, and when I click, nothing happens. I have disabled my plug-ins and still get nothing. It works fine in safari and I am on a mac.

Re: Hotmail: Can’t oopen or delete emails
Sory about not getting back to you sooner, but after a while I get tired of playing your silly games.
Next step is to see if the error occurs I Safe Mode, if I can figure out how to start XP in safe mode; Google, here I come. Can open in Safe mode.
    UNDER FIREFOX’S “HELP” I FOUND
    RESTART WITH ADD-ONS DISABLED.
I restarted with add-ons disabled. Now I CAN open emails in Hotmail.
    Hi everyone,
We request you to provide the following information to isolate the issue:
    - What steps did you take that led to this error condition?
    - Do not know.
Are you getting an error message? If you are, post the exact error message here.
    - Bottom-left corner of the screen says “Loading…”.
    - Does the issue happen when other Windows Live Hotmail accounts are accessed on the same computer?
    - Yes!
    - Do you encounter the issue when the account is accessed in another browser on the same computer?
    - No. IE 8 works fine.
We suggest you to upgrade your browser to it's latest version. You can go to this link for reference.
Both browsers are latest. Firefox is 18.0.1. DID NOT HELP!
You may also try to enable HTTPS by following these steps:
    DOES NOT HELP!
    - After logging into Hotmail and navigating to your Inbox, change the URL in the address bar of your browser to https://. You only need to add the ‘s’ onto the http and leave the rest of the URL as is. Press Enter to follow the updated URL.
    - IT ALREADY SHOWS “https”—because I did the steps below BEFORE. TRYING THEM AGAIN:
    OR
    1. Log into Hotmail
    Ok—(in Internet Explorer)
    2. Navigate to your Inbox
    Ok.
    3. In the upper right corner of the page, select Options and More options…
    Ok.
    4. Under the Customizing Hotmail section select Advanced privacy settings
    Ok.
    5. Under the Using HTTPS for Extra Security section select Go to HTTPS settings
    6. Sign in with your Microsoft Account if prompted
    Ok.
    7. You should now be on a page titled Connect with HTTPS. Click the button to enable “Use HTTPS automatically (please see the note above)”
    It was already selected.
    8. Click the Save button and you will be returned to your Inbox.
    I clicked Save.
Now, I will try the same thing using Firefox:
     Opening Firefox
 Options | More options | Customizing Hotmail-Advanced privacy settings
 “Use HTTPS automatically” radio buttton was selected.
    I clicked on Save.
 Closing Firefox. Opening Firefox. Opening Hotmail.
“We can't connect to Hotmail right now. Please try again later.”
I tried again and got in and could not open an email.
It turns out I can click on an email’s box and try to delete it. I did several and then signed out of Hotmail. I signed in again and the emails were still there—they did NOT get deleted.
    Signed out of Hotmail.
Signing in to Hotmail on Firefox again and trying a different Hotmail account.

    Deleted spam from my inbox.
    Lower-left corner says “Loading…”.
Signed out and signed back in to Hotmail second account again.
The emails I had tried to delete were still there.
I clicked Options”. When I clicked More options, nothing happens. When I put the screen cursor over More options, the following shows in the lower left corner:

Hello, For us to investigate the issue, please answer the questions below:
    - Does the issue happen when you use other browser? NO
    - Does the issue happen when you use other computer? WE DON’T HAVE ANOTHER COMPUTER
    - Are you trying to open an email with attachment? NO
    - Note: You may also optimize your browser to make sure that this is not the cause of the issue. Please click here for the steps on how to optimize your Internet Explorer. If you are using another browser, please refer to its user manual for the steps. Thanks. …
Have you tried disabling the installed add-ons on your browsers? If yes, does the smae issue pesist? There are cases the customers have downloaded and installed add-ons on the browser that hinders the Hotmail page from loading properly.Any information you can provide will be of great help. In the mean time, please make sure that your firewall, pop-up blocker, or antivirus software is not preventing the page from loading correctly. Add bing.com, hotmail.com, live.com, outlook.com, and msn.com to the list of safe domains for your firewall, pop-up blocker, and antivirus software. To learn how to do this, refer to the documentation for your firewall, pop-up blocker, and antivirus software.Thanks.
I would try these things if I knew how:
    - Disabling addons
    - Make sure that my
    fiirewall,
    popup-blocker, and/or
    anti-virus software
is not preventing the page from loading correctly
    - Adding Add bing.com, hotmail.com, live.com, outlook.com, and msn.com except that there is no problem with IE.
Where do I find documentation on my firewall? Is it part of my Avast? (anti-virus software)
    SAFE MODE
“If a symptom does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and minimum device drivers as possible causes. If a newly added device or a changed driver is causing problems, you can use safe mode to remove the device or reverse the change.
    4. As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8
    5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER.”
Now I wonder what Safe mode option I will want to choose? “… with Networking”
Ok, in Ugh!! Safe Mode, started firefox and logged into Hotmail. I clicked on an email and Hotmail opened it.
Now, I am obviously back in normal boot. (I tried Firefox/Hotmail again but just going to Save Mode and back didn’t fix anything. I didn’t expect it to.)
    So, what next?
I fixed it using Firefox's Help | Restart sith Add-ons Disabled!!!!!

  • Cannot open emails from Hotmail

I am having trouble opening emails from Hotmail in the Mail tool.  I have other email accounts that are working fine.  It worked prior to yesterday.  The various messages that I have seen are:
    "Cannot get mail"
    "Cannot connect to server"
Even old messages that I had previously viewed are not available.  When I try to open them, I just get the "Loading . . ." message.
I am also seeing this same problem with the same account on my iPad.

This seems to fit.  I use Outlook.  I sent a test email and it went through fine.  My Inbox seems to be working now, but other folders are not.  Thanks for the quick reply!

  • Since last windows update, I can't open emails in Hotmail. (I.E. OK)

I run XP pro. Firefox is my default browser. It was working fine till 3 days ago when I installed (express like always) 2 windows updates. Since then I can't open, delet or move emails within hotmail. If I use I.E to view hotmail, everything works. The same thing happened last year and within a week there was a firefox update. After installing that, - Hotmail behaved normally. Is a new fix coming soon please? OR is it a cookiew issue? I accept 3rd party cookies until I close Forefox

    Hello Peter.
Try to access your email using Firefox's safe-mode to disable extensions and add-ons. If that fixes the issue, it will narrow down the possible source of the problem.
We'll see how to go on about it from then on.

  • I cannot open emails in Hotmail even though I have disabled all add-ons and plugins.

As of this morning, I cannot open any emails in Hotmail or open any folders therin. I have disabled all of my plugins and add-ons which has made no difference. To the best of my knowledge, no updates have been made to Firefox on my PC since yesterday.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove your live.com cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these:
    * While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • When I try to open emails from Gmail in Firefox they do not show, don't have this problem if I open it in IE. Any help with this?

Emails in the inbox are displayed normally, however when I try to open an email, it is as if there is nothing there.. print screens below:
    Firefox inbox is fine: http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/7695/86551771.jpg
Firefox opens email, nothing is seen: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/4724/13904703.jpg
IE opens email - normal: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/8101/33048106.jpg

turned off ABP and it works! now to find which filters are for Gmail...
EDIT: Disabled all filters with mail.google and still nothing.. I'll try unticking anything with google now
EDIT: Deleted subscriptions and added new ones. Now it works:
    I've got:
    - EasilyList
    - EasyPrivacy
    - Malware Domains

  • Changed my password in Hotmail, now I cannot open emails. I removed Firefox and then reinstalled it but has not helped.

When searching the website, I decided to restore my system to my last backup, which was one month ago, so that I could go back to my old password. It worked in Internet Explorer but not in Mozilla Firefox. I cannot do anything in Hotmail. I also used CC Cleaner, Spybottom Search, and Malware Anti-Malware. I also can use Windows Live Essentials 2011.

What happens if you tap the home button from that page?
I think you must have push turned on for your mail, and that is the first thing it is trying to do.  But from anyscreen, any time, if you hit the home button, it should return you to the home screen.  From there, go to settings and do the work on the mail section.

  • Cannot open emails in hotmail. Have no problem opening using I.E. browser

Did a cleanup of my system using ashampoo WinOptimiser 5, which made my computer work more efficiently. However, after opening the Firefox browser (with no problems), I then logged on to my hotmail account (again without any problems). But after opening my inbox, I found that I was unable to open individual mailings. I went through the above procedure, but this time usng the Internet Explorer browser and this time had no difficulties in accessing my emails. From this, my conclusion is that there is something that perhaps I need to do in the Firefox settings to to resolve this situation. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, but this has made no difference.

  • When using Mozilla I cannot reply to or sened new emails using Hotmail, but when browsing using Internet Explorer I can, so what is going on?

This problem only started occuring a few days ago. I have no more details to supply at the moment.

Just to follow up on my findings. My last issue regarding the digital certificate was not at the time of initial download into Firefox, but my application required that I backup the certificate into a folder which can then be accessed to sign a submission generated by a third-party Client software.
After finally steering away from the digital signing route by opting for a non digital filing of my project, I later revisited the Firefox certificates list only to find that the 'Backup' button still didn't work or respond in any way whatsoever; however since I only had a single certificate on my list... I threw my hand up in the air and tried the 'Backup All' button... guess what - that worked!! My browser then navigated to a file browser which allowed me to save the certificate to a folder of my choice. Of course this was after the fact as my deadline had already passed and and I had the Administrator who initially granted my secure ID revoke it once I was blocked from downloading it by Firefox.
Just an update/FYI for y'all... But I'm not sure if this type of anomoly is due to a glitch on my computer or a glitch on the browser - but it certainly did catch me off-guard during a deadline.
