I downloaded a game i think it was made for Mac OS 7,8-9 Not Sure. My friend had it on his Mac Laptop the one made of plastic and coloured.
Anyway, how do i open it. Under Mac OS 9?
Thanks.

There are a couple of emulators if your willing to make the effort:

Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.

  • Can't open LR4, not supported on this type of Mac

I just successfully installed LR4, however, it won't open the application because it says it is not supported on this type of Mac.  I have a Intel MacBook Pro, OS 10.6.8, with 2 GB RAM, and enough HD space to load and run.  I already have LR3 installed and it's up to date.  What gives?

Arnold you are certainly welcome to return the product.  You can find the process for submitting a refund request at Return, change Adobe orders | North America - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/return-change-orders-north-america.html.
I have a similar issue with my personal MacBook Pro as it is using an Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.33 ghz.  While it can run 64-bit applications I am not able to run Snow Leopard in 64-bit mode without doing unsupported, by Apple, modifications to the OS.
You might also find this document useful 64-bit OS and Adobe applications - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/64-bit-os-applications.html and it might help explain why we are transitioning many of our applications to 64-bit.  It is especially useful for applications which can make use of a lot of memory such as image editing and video editing/processing applications.

Problem now resolved as I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.  Seems App Store doesn't like anything previous to 10.6.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Can't open F-Fox 4 in my iMac G5 w/PowerPC CPU; icon says "not supported on this system"

I have a somewhat old iMac G5 with what I believe is a Power PC CPU. I have used Firefox as long as I've had this. I just downloaded the new Firefox 4, and it shows a classic "NO" symbol (slashed circle) over the new Firefox 4 icon. When I click on the icon I get: "You cannot open the application "Firefox" because it is not supported on this system."
Must I go into mourning? Has CPU old age finally caught up with me? I LOVE Firefox; I hate Microsoft. Must I abandon my true love?

There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
The latest official version that works on OS X 10.4 and PPC Macs is Firefox 3.6.16 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • ? cannot open pdf files. get 'because it is not supported on this system'?

Cannot open pdf files. get a pop up that says 'You cannont open the application "" because it is not supported on this system.

    Hi Sharon,
Highlight a PDF in the Finder, do a Get Info on it, (CMD+i), what does it say for Open with? Or choose Open with... Preview.
Another test is to open Preview in Applications, then drag a PDF to Preview's icon in the Dock.  What happens?

  • FF WON'T OPEN. SAYS IT'S "NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS SYSTEM" USED TO WORK JUST FINE.

Icon has disappeared from dock, notice says "Firefox is not supported on this system", icon in Applications folder now has a circle and slant line through it. What happened? I tried to re-install it and got the same result. Am running OS 10.4.11

The last release from Mozilla that works on the old 10.4 was Firefox 3.6.18. As of Firefox 4.0 and newer a Intel Mac and OSX 10.5 and newer is required for it to run.

However since you are using a PPC Mac there is a third-party option at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

  • Application not supported on this system

I am trying to install some software from a CD ROM for a class I'm taking. When I double-click on the Installer, I get an error that says the application cannot be opened because it is not supported on this system. I looked at the specs on the CD and they state it was created in 2002 and the format that comes up is Mac OS Standard. Any suggestions on installing the software?
    Thanks!
    Katy

    Hi Katy
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Software on a CD ROM that old was probably written for OS 8 or 9 and you mac will not install or run that version. Without knowing (you don't say) what the software is, it is impossible for us to help you in finding a current OS X or Universal version.

I have a new airbook, 10.7.4 LION, thunderbolt ethernet adapter and when trying to install 1.2.1 thunderbolt upgrade it says "this software not supported on this system"? Any advice on how to get the adapter to work?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you purchased the computer before 2010, your computer hasn't got Thunderbolt, so you can't use it

  • Unable to open iSync: "Not supported on this platform"

Maybe it was the 10.5.5 upgrade, maybe not. Right now, when I click on iSync, I get an immediate popup saying "You can't open the application 'iSync' because it is not supported on this architecture. Well, it was a month ago. I use iSync to set the threshold of changes on my calendar that result in a confirmation notification. When I sync my iphone, I want to know if the sync process is changing more than 2 calendar events.
    Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for taking the time to reply
    This is an Intel MacMini
iSync was located in the Applications folder and has lived there all its life. I tried moving it to the desktop and then back to the Applications folder, like you suggested. I still get the "Not supported on this platform ..." message. I'll re-apply the 10.5.5 update in the morning.
I agree that some apps hate to be removed from the Applications folder. I have tried to move some Apps to the Utilities folder unsuccessfully before.

  • The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge. Lenovo X220i.

Hi All, I bought a re-furbished Lenovo X220i and decided to buy an extra genuine Lenovo battery which is brand new (New Old Stock maybe?) from a dealer. Battery Details: P/N OA36283 on the Box. P/N 42T4861 on the battery. According to the Lenovo documentation, this battery part number should be compatible to Lenovo X220i. However, when I insert the battery in, it comes up with a message that the battery is not supported by the system and will not charge. The battery comes up with zero (0%) charge.  I installed the latest driver I can find and still comes up the same. Can anybody shed some light on this please? Thanks.

    Hi
can you provide the photo of the labels on the battery surface (with quality the symbols legible)? Also, if OS is win7 and Lenovo Power Manager application is installed, it's very helpful to add information PM in the Advinced mode from the Battery tab.
There is a big chance the battery is faked.

  • Win 7 boot from VHD "License Error: Booting from VHD is not supported on this system"

I am trying to set up my TP 500 model 2242-CTO to boot from a virtual hard drive, per the instructions at
    http://blogs.technet.com/keithcombs/archive/2009/05/22/dual-boot-from-vhd-using-windows-7-and-window...
I get all the way thru the Win 7 setup, but just as the login screen is presented, I get the subject message.  That's the end of story, can't go further.
I just updated the BIOS and hard drive firmware to the latest versions on the Lenovo site as of today (3.09), and the hard drive firmware said no update needed.
Anybody know what will work?  Just academic now, as I will go ahead an reinstall win 7 normally....
    Thanks !

Not true, mine is win7 pro and works, I think the problem is that lenovo makes a custimized boot for their utility
