Can't open FF. Says "firefox.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

When I click the Mozilla desktop icon, I hear a "beep," and the pop-up with a red "X" says... "firefox.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
That's as far as I get.

This suggests that the installer has been damaged during downloading.
One thing you can try is using a different browser to see if that helps.
If you are in Australia this has been associated with using a USB Dongle connected to a wireless broadband provider.
It seems that routers can also cause the problem.
The simplest thing is to get a friend to download the installer for you and put it on a USB stick. Preferably a copy they know works.

  • Firefox.exe is not a valid win32 application problem

I use Firefox very long time. But now I have problem. I mean Big problem! Few days ago I downloaded the latest Firefox (still beta version in Serbian), and used it day or two. After that period Firefox just "shut down". I couldn't start it again, so I wipe it off, and reinstall but nothing happened. I couldn't star it still. (I installed than English version - but didn't work again). When I tried to started Firefox got message, literally: firefox.exe is not a valid win32 application. And so constantly. I wiped again, reinstall, but result is the same. I tried this - http://support.mozilla.com/sr-CYRL/kb/Firefox%20exe%20is%20not%20a%20valid%20win32%20application, but didn't work for me.What should I do? Please, help me.

    ewan,
i was dealing w/ the same exact problems, and here's what i did to sucessfully install the latest itunes 7.5 on my laptop:
    1. i completely took everything dealing with apple/itunes out of my system (e.g. uninstalling itunes from my laptop)
    2. went to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm and downloaded version 7.4.3 to my laptop
    3. when this was loaded on my laptop, i then went into itunes and went to the "help" tab and then went to "check for updates" and it alerted me that there was version 7.5 available
    4. i then chose to update to that, and it worked fine and now i am sucessfully running 7.5.
I hope the helps, let me know if it does or not. good luck

  • TS1406 I read all of this, and did each step and mine still doesn't work. It still says "iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application". What's next?

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

  • Unable to open itunes, "itunessetup(1).exe is not a valid Win32 application

Forgive me if I'm an idiot. I bought my husband an Ipod Shuffle for Xmas. I spent hours downloading the latest itunes only to have an error message pop up at the end that itunessetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
I read another post about people having better luck with older versions of itunes and downloaded 6.0 with no problem, saved a cd on it, and then when i plugged in the Shuffle it gave me an error message that said it would only work with the newest version of itunes. The apple website recognizes that I have already downloaded the new version, but nothing will happen other than the error message. Husband is already saying I should just sell his new shuffle, and I'm feeling stupid that I can't figure it out...can anyone help please? Thank you.

THis is a common problem for people downloading itunes on dail up and/or with corrupt versions in there temp folders.
If you are on dail up, you need to first download and install whats called a "Download manager". These programs will usually make sure the download goes correctly, will start the download where it stops should the connection be lost, and can usually be set to re dail to your internet provider if the connection is lost (Handy for late nights when you goto bed and leave a big download going). Theres quite afew different ones out there usually free, Id recommend looking around on the net and get the one you feel comfortable with using.
THen you can try the download again.
Also try emptying your temp folder in your browser

  • It says 'iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.'?

The way my company has set up software installs means we have to save any application to the hard drive and then run it from there.  It's supposed to keep unwanted stuff from being loaded onto computers by less than tech savvy users, but it makes it hard to load even innocuous things like iTunes.
When I 'save' instead of 'run' from the applet, I get a very brief download (comparatively) and then when I try and manually run the .exe file, I get the above statement in an error message.  If I select 'run' from the intital download popup, it takes much longer to download, but then can't load because it's not been run with admin privledges (which you do get if you download an application file first and then manually 'run' the install).  I suspect the two options don't give you access to the same files, but how can I download the actual install program to run it manually?

  • I keep getting this message when I try to open Firefox."C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe is not a valid Win32 application" What can I do? I have tried uninstalling and re-install. Ths

I am running Windows 7 . It happened without any changes being made. I downloaded the install file several different times and even turned off my Kaspersky A/V when I installed.

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different (64-bit) PC. Copy the iTunes64Setup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunes64Setup.exe file.
Does that go through any better for you?

  • Firefox Setup 7.0.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

''Firefox Setup 7.0.exe is not a valid Win32 application.''
The message above is displayed immediately after I click "Run" in the window titled "Open File - Security Warning" which asks to "Run" or "Cancel".

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • I am trying to download icloud control panel via icloudsetup.exe to windows Toshiba laptop and get a message" \icloudsetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. Can anyone help? I am new to Apple stuff.

Need help for icloud photo stream, have activated ps on iphone 4 and set up icloud back up for email, contacts, iwork, and find my ihone. Need to find photos that we thought were being saved/shared as well but evidently not. Found on another search that I may need the icloud control panel so tried to download it but when try to install i get, C:\Users\Downloads\icloudsetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I am using a Toshiba laptop with windows 7, which the system requirements are met. I am new to Apple stuff, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

It suggests the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Error 'RecoveryMgr.exe is not a valid Win32 application' when trying to restore in Win7

I really hope someone can help as this is driving me mad!
System details - G62 Notebook running Windows 7
The notebook crashed after a Windows update and wouldn't boot up.  I made it into the recovery manager and back my files before restoring to factory settings.
Since getting back in I am unable to get my files back.  I have tried through the recovery manager but it does not allow me to see the files on the dvd.  I have also tried through backup and restore but no joy there either.  When I click on RecoverMgr.exe on the dvd I get error 'RecoveryMgr.exe is not a valid Win32 application' and it won't open.
I hope someone has managed to solve this before as I would love my files back.  All suggestions greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Thanks Mumbodog.  Unfortunately I have tried and the files won't copy.  Starting to think they are corrupt!  Have tried on a few different PC's but no luck.  Really annoyed   Any other suggestions?

  • Itunessetup.exe is not a valid win32 application?!? help!

has anyone else been getting an error message when trying to upgrade to itunes 7 that says something to the effect of "itunessetup.exe is not a valid win32 application" ???
does anyone know what this means or how i can fix it??

    grgatzby,
Empty the cache files of your browser and temp directory as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Then save the file again to another location on the computer.
If you cannot clear the cache, try to download the iTunes and quicktime setup installer from the quicktime site: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html

  • Trouble installing itunes -itunessetup.exe is not a valid win32 application

I have trouble installing itunes. The following message appears: C:\Documents and Setting\Owner\My Documents\ itunsSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I tried the following but I still have problems: remove previous version of itunes, remove quicktime, install again quicktime as a standalone, delete temporary files, restart computer, delete all itunes related files.

    Finally an answer from Apple:
    Dear Stefanie,
I understand that you're receiving an error when trying to open the iTunes
installer that you downloaded. I'd like to try to help you resolve this issue.
It appears that your web browser may be truncating your download of the iTunes
software. I urge you to try using a different web browser to download iTunes. If
this is not possible, you can also try using a different computer to download
iTunes, and then transfer the iTunes installer file (iTunesSetup.exe) to your
original computer and open it from there.
Some transfer options would include using your iPod to transfer the file via
hard disk mode, using a local network, burning a CD, using an external hard disk
or a USB drive, or even sending the file to yourself via email or over an
    instant messaging network.
I hope this information helps to resolve your iTunes installation issue. If it
does not and you still need assistance from Apple, you will need to call Apple
technical support (there may be a fee associated with the call). To find the
    appropriate phone number, please visit:

    Hi,
yes DLM is a java application but normaly it should be installed via the exe file. This is what I wonder.
    I just did the following:
    Manual installation
Download the Download Manager Java Archive (958 KB).
Copy it to a directory where it can permanently reside:
Open a shell ("command prompt") and change directory (type: cd 'the directory name') to the directory to which the Download Manager Java Archive was copied.
At the prompt, type: java -classpath "DLManager.jar" dlmanager.Application
The Download Manager application starts up
And it works now by this means it be started.
But I wish to install it and be also listed under the installed programs.
Anyway I can live with this now
    Thanks

  • 'mymusic/itunes.exe is not a valid win32 application' **help needed** !!

As i double click on the desktop shortcut to open itunes, i get an error message which is the following: 'mymusic/itunes.exe is not a valid win32 application'. I now cannot access itunes or any of my media/music!
Background... I updated to the latest version of itunes, downloaded a few apps and music and re-synced my iPod touch. I then clicked on itunes store, and itunes just closed down and would then not reopen and now repeats the error message everytime.
I have attempted to repair itunes by downloading the setup software again, i have also tried removing itunes from my pc with the intention to re-install all over again, however it wont let me uninstall itunes either!!
    Anybody have any suggestions?

Can you open iTunes if you go to Program Files\iTunes and double click on iTunes.exe.
If so, you can create a new short cut by right clicking on iTunes.exe and selecting Send to>>Desk top(create short cut)
