Can't open file "/Library/WebServer/Documents/index.html.en."

Can’t open file “/Library/WebServer/Documents/index.html.en.”

You will never be able to open this file with iWeb, because, as it states it is a User/Sites/index.html file and iWeb cannot open this files - anything with html on the end of it is already published and iWeb cannot open this. It is not the same as your domain file.
Go to User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites and try opening your domain file, rather than something that is already published. iWeb cannot import - at least not published pages.

  • Iweb installed on a new computer but i have this error message: Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2."

I have just installed ilife on my  new computer from my disk. I have several backups of my webpage from my  old computer. Everything would be great if I could just run the program. When I click the icon for iWeb I get the following message:  Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.”
Somebody please help! I desperately need to update my website.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites"

I was working on iWeb today, doing the usual adding pictures, and gave a few pages some color, and a few pictures here and there.
I restart my computer, because as usual, I almost have no memory left. When the computer is running again, I opened iWeb, and I get this odd message:
    Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites"
Why is this here? I didn't do anything weird to trigger such message. The site was working perfectly fine! I tried taking the domain file to the desktop, then opening it once iWeb launches from there, and same message appears. I put it back to its place, and tried putting the iWeb plist on the desktop, and same deal!
Everything is back in its place, I haven't changed or triggered anything to deserve this. I ran Onyx, full optimization update. I restarted computer, and conducted a full disk permission repairs. Only 1 error found out of another app.
My computer is healthy, my programs are running fine. What is going on? Does anyone know how I can fix this?

    Hi
Whaow 3.1GB. I'm sure iWeb has problems with that. I have the same problem with my iWeb. I have about 100 BLOG pages with a lot of pictures. Although iWeb scales the pictures when publishing (good!) it does not scale them when they are stored in the domains file/dir (bad!) So if you have an 8MP camera, this adds up after a while.
You can open the comains file and try to figure out what causes the trouble. (Right click/CTRL click, open content) sort on size to see if you have some extremely large stuff in there (Movies???) Take them out and try to make them smaller.
    Good luck!!

  • Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2."

    Hello,
I have been using iWeb for over a year and I have a lot of my work on it. But for some reason, when I went to open iWeb, I get the error message:
    +Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.”+
Does anyone know how I can fix this and make sure my content doesn't get deleted?
    Thank You!

Deleting the preference file does not affect the domain.sites2 file. If it's not in the default folder or has a name other than domain.sites2 then that's why iWeb couldn't find and open it. Find it and double-click on it to open it with iWeb 2. You do have a backup copy the domain file, right? If not download and use frequently the Automator application that Varkgirl created. You can get it at Varkgirl's iWeb Tips and Tricks site.

  • Getting error Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2." when trying to open iWeb?

I recently had to replace my harddrive a few months back and tried to open my iWeb to update my website.  When I click to open it, I get "Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.”  I uploaded iLife again but that didn't seem to help.

Did you confirm that you have a Domain.sites2 file in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder?  If so double click on it to try to open with iWeb.  If that doesn't work try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home()/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Can't open files from My Documents when I'm in Photoshop, Illustrator CS6

When trying to upload a pdf file (or any file) to a website such as a job application site, I get the spinning ball; just hangs up. I tried calling apple and they did the following:  Restart, Repair of Disk Permissions, Removal of Log-In Items; so they suggested contacting Adobe, which I did, and they referred me to Adobe Communities.  Does anyone have a clue what to do here? I'm on a Mac OSX version 10.9.4

  • Can't open file "~Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2" from a backup

I've done my home work on this one. I'm trying to recover the Domain.sites2 files from a backup on to an OS 10.6.8 with iWeb 3.0.4. It allows me to create a new site perfectly but I followed these instructions at iwebformusicians including deleting the .plist preferences file, restarting and running DU/Fix Permissions, running BatChmod based on this suggestion, and even deleting the .plist files from the Domain.sites2 package based on this suggestion. I also tried DomainCracker based on the tips at iwebformusicians since there are 2 domains in the sites2 file.
At a loss here. I still have all the web pages in the Sites folder. What are my options? Is the file really corrupt?

    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Can't open file "~/sites/index.html." in iWeb09

I have been searching through posts and I have noticed some that are very similar to this question, but are not exactly related. My domain file worked fine before upgrading to iWeb09. Now I get the error: can't open file "~/sites/index.html." Has anyone found a way to import the iWeb08 domain file into version 09?
Nice job Apple! How can you release a product that does not correctly import or update the file from the previous version(s)? There is no way that you could have missed this in testing...

  • When I try to open iweb I get the following message: Can't open file "~/Sites/NAVIGATOR/index.html." How do I fix this? Using 10.6.3 soon to be 10.6.6 and then Lion.

When I try to open iweb I get the following message: Can’t open file “~/Sites/NAVIGATOR/index.html.” How do I fix this? Using 10.6.3 soon to be 10.6.6 and then Lion. I have never opened the product before and have had it on the computer since new.

Go into your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and see if there's a file titled Domain.sites.  If there is double click on it and see if iWeb opens.
If there is no Domain file there do the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.

  • IWeb Can't open file "~/Sites/index.html."

when trying to either launch iWeb or open one of my web pages - I get an iWeb dialog box that states "Can't open file "~/Sites/index.html."
    any advice?

    Hello Felicia,
iWeb is not capable of opening "HTML" files iWeb will only open a ".sites2" file type which is an iWeb domain file type. I would suggest doing a search for ".sites2" on your computer

  • Can't find "manual" folder in /Library/WebServer/Documents/

I am trying get MAMP working with the apache server on Mac OS X. But I can't seem to find the manual folder that should exist in /Library/WebServer/Documents/manual. Any one know why? Or where I can get a fresh download of the stuff that should be there?

They do not exist in the server DocumentRoot
    If you're running Apache2, the httpd.conf has a line:
    AliasMatch ^/manual(?:/(?:de|en|es|fr|ja|ko|pt-br|ru))?(/.*)?$ "/Library/WebServer/share/httpd/manual$1"
This essentially tells Apache to serve any request for /manual* from /Library/WebServer/share/httpd/manual which is where you'll find the docs you're asking about.
Since the alias exists, you can also visit http://ip.of.your.server/manual/

What I done to try resolve this problem:
    1. Checked permissions and repaired.
    2. Tried to open file in iCloud web-editor - no result. iCloud says that it can't open this spreadsheet.
    3. Tried to convert file via some online file type converters to xls document (i will not put link here). Converter says that I have wrong file format.
Also I tried to open file in some other programs. No luck.
    That's all.
File Work.numbers has been closed correctly and was no errors. Unfortunately, we have no any backup copy of this file anywhere. I know, this is stupid, but question now: How can I repair this document? Is any repair tools for iWork files?
The file seems like has right structure.
    iTrancemind # ls -la Work.numbers/

Unzipping Index.zip is passing without errors. It has many "iwa" files with binnary content and I can't get data from it. But, data in that file is very important for one person.
Could anybody help me to resolve my problem to restore Numbers document?

    Hi rabg,
I am using OS X 10.8 on a Mac. This may be different if you are using iOS.
Does Numbers'09 still exist in your Applications folder? Maybe inside a new folder? Perhaps you could use Numbers'09 to open your documents.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Usefull applescript apps for /Library/WebServer/Documents

I now publish to my the web server on my machine at home, I have given up with iDisk. It seems to work find with no-ip.com.
    Anyway...
I seem to remember an applescript that could be attached to a folder action that would change the file format of all images dropped into that folder.
I was wondering if I attached this to /Library/WebServer/Documents as an 'AppleScript Folder Action' it would automatically convert the images to .jpg as iWeb published my pages to my own web server.
The advantages would be that I would not have to alter the iWeb file. Also thinking about it there can be a lot of modification done this way without hacking around with the saved iWeb file.
Also no need to do anything other than publishing the page to the folder.

    Yes and no,
Yes, you can have AppleScript as Folder Actions script, that is when something is added to the folder, the script will carry out that action (the programmed script).
I was wondering if I attached this to
    /Library/WebServer/Documents as an 'AppleScript
Folder Action' it would automatically convert the
images to .jpg as iWeb published my pages to my own
    web server.
No, AppleScript may not be able to convert to/from some image formats to JPEGs. You may need some third party application for that, Graphic Converter is AppleScript friendly; or QT is another one.
The more important question is when you convert your images (PNG or whatever) to JPEGs, wouldn't that mess up you links?
Unless you rename ALL your converted JPEGs back to original (PNG or whatever) names.
Could you provide more infos? perhaps I can help.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.2 CS4 InDesign can't open files with a "#" in file path

Snow Leopard 10.6.2 CS4 InDesign can't open files with a "#" in file path using any of these perfectly normal methods:
    1. double-click file in the Finder (e.g in a Folder on your Mac or on your Mac desktop etc.)
    2. select file and choose "File... Open" command-o in the Finder
    3. drag file to the application icon in the Finder.
    4. Select file in Bridge and double-click, choose File.. Open.. or Drag icon to InDesign icon in dock.
If you try to open an ID file named with a "#", you will get an error message "Missing required parameter 'from' for event 'open.'"
This happens to any InDesign file that has a "#" (pound sign, number sign, or hash) in the filename or in the file path (any parent folder).
    To reproduce
Name an InDesign file Test#.idd Try to open it in the Finder or Bridge (as opposed to the "Open" dilaog of InDeisng itself).
    "Solution"
The file WILL open using File... Open... command-o while in InDesign application.
Rename the file or folders that have a "#" (shift-3) in the filename.
Report to Adobe if it bugs you.
This does not occur in "plain" Leopard 10.5 nor Tiger 10.4
Untested in Panther or before and
Untested with CS3 and earlier in Snow Leaopard.
Anyone have those and want to try this... ?

In case this really bothers you: we've added a workaround for this into Soxy. If you enable the option, these documents will open fine on double-click.
    You need Soxy 1.0.7 from:
    http://www.rorohiko.com/soxy
Go to the 'Soxy' - 'Preferences' - 'Other' dialog window, and enable 'Open InDesign via Script'
(Irrelevant background info (it's all invisible to the user): the workaround works by special-casing how Soxy opens documents in InDesign: instead of using AppleScript, Soxy will use ExtendScript to instruct InDesign to open the document - which works fine).
