Can't open files where the name starts with a number

On our network server, we have some folders where the files are numbered. Example:
1 - Memo
2 - Agenda
3 - Report X
4 - Report Y
5 - Report Z
We have 5 Macs in our office. Everybody can read these files fine except for one person. On her computer she can't open any file that starts with a number and gets the below error message. How do I fix this?
All our Macs (to the best of my knowledge) are setup exactly the same since they were purchased at the same time late last year.

  • Column name in the database starts with a number!

    Hello,
Recently we updated out database and we changed our tables' and columns' names, I'm developing an adf application with EJB3.0 the question is that the new column names start with a number (eg. 001U_ID), its a kind of encoding the names of the tables so no one can modify the values.
When I create a query on the table it is throwing an exception:
Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Incorrect syntax near 'U_ID'.
I think the problem is that the EJB3.0 doesn't recognize column names starting with a number!!! What can I do to solve this issue?
    Thanks

I don't work for Adobe but it seems to me you might be signing in to Acrobat with the wrong Adobe ID.
Check the Adobe ID you use in Acrobat.
Check this Adobe ID on Adobe's to make sure that it has an active subscription.

  • Can't open files in the Bluetooth File Exchange

I've had this problem before, but some how fixed it. Now it's not working again. I'm trying to get my pictures from my phone (RAZR) to put them onto my laptop. This is what I do:
I open the BT File Exchange > browse device > select browse > the audio, pictures, video folders come up > i double click the pictures folder...
This is where the problem starts. After I click on the pictures folder, it says "getting folder contents..." and then it says that the operation is complete, BUT it doesnt open the folder, or it says "The last operation failed: bad request." It just stays on the screen with the audio, pictures, and video folders.
Any idea's on how to fix this?

    Hey,
Heres a site you might want to look at. I can't stress enough how important it is before you can transfer, to add the feature on Bluetooth. I have found it works better. You need to do it in the Bluetooth Preferences. Make sure you can sync it with everything else before trying File Exchange.
    I hope that helps,

Try telling students who barely have two nickels to rub together these days that they have to outlay $400-500 dollars every year to be able to keep up to date with the programs at their schools. I can barely get these kids to package their files properly and now they have to remember to export their files to idml and remember to put them in their folders before they copy it onto their external hard drive to bring it home to work on. Is it really necessary to update every bloody year and charge these kids so much to upgrade. And this time only for a .5 upgrade?  A lot of these kids have parents that are sacrificing every thing to pay for their kids college education. What message is adobe sending to these kids? That the study of graphic design is only for the rich who can afford to upgrade every year. Have a heart in this economy.
Your points about the hardship of expensive learning materials, and the extra work involved in saving to IDML, are all valid.
If/when online applications come into common use, some of the issues may fade away, because the newest and older versions will always be available for a user to choose from.
In the meantime, perhaps some of these suggestions will be useful:
    * Adobe's volume licensing plan (VLP, I think) and transactional licensing plan (TLP) have been mentioned in this forum, in regard to the option of buying licenses for earlier releases. My thought is that your school could "freeze" their installations at a useful recent release, to extend the useful life of a student's own purchased educational copy. Search Google for terms like "InDesign volume license transactional license" without quotes. Also, perhaps someone who knows more about these options will jump in here.
    * Unless there are compelling class needs for the new features in new releases, there's no need to upgrade. Depending on the course's level, some features wouldn't be needed for lower-level classes; for the higher-level classes, use the newer software.
    * If possible, allow students to install DropBox, or other  online storage software, on the school computers, so they can save files remotely, and access them from any Internet connection. This won't eliminate the saving to IDML step, but it can eliminate the copy-to-transport-media step, simplifying things a bit. There may be security and other IT issues here to be worked out.
    * For students who intend to enter the design career, it may be less expensive to buy an upgradeable non-educational license, or even - shudder - a subscription. Subscriptions, I believe, can be activated and deactivated for specific periods, like rental cars, so, for example, if/when a student graduates and takes a job where the employer provides the software, or the student doesn't need the software for a semester or quarter, the subscription can be idled, and there's no cost. If the student becomes an independent designer, the subscription can be reactivated when there's work to be done. I believe Bob Levine once posted a comparison, on this forum, of cost-to-license InDesign, for subscriptions vs. other licensing methods. Bob?
Sometimes folks compare the ongoing cost of software and upgrades to other industries and careers that don't seem to have the same issues. However, the tools needed in many industries and careers are no longer so static, as in the past. Carpenters who worked with manual tools could use hammers, screwdrivers, etc., until they wore out or broke, but  the introduction of electric nail drivers, screwdrivers, and drills forced production carpenters to upgrade their tools. Perhaps the increased output of mechanized tools balanced their increased cost. Draftsmen's triangles, T-squares, pens, etc., don't need upgrades, but there have been about 20 AutoCAD software releases for them to keep up with.
Recently I had to replace my 1991 stick-shift car with a "new-to-me" 2005 model. It's like all the newer cars I've rented at times - automatic everything. I've done most maintenance and repair on the old one, and I always carried tools in case something broke on the road, and I could fix it myself. The new car is a disaster; the only fixing and maintenance I might possibly do is change a flat tire, add fuel, window-washer juice, oil, power brake and steering fluids, wash the exterior, vacuum the interior, set radio-station presets, and change the battery in the remote-control device that opens and locks the doors, and activates the entire computerized beast. There's nothing for me to do but open the doors, get in, turn on the engine, and aim in some direction.
Mechanics, whose basic-level wrenches and ignition-timing strobe lights were capable of doing an amazing range of tasks over decades of model changes, now need annual expensive software upgrades for the computerized tools that troubleshoot and maintain the modern rolling computers that have replaced cars as some of us knew them.

    CalDAVAaccountRefreshQueueableOperation.

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
In the Internet Accounts preference pane, delete any calendar accounts you don't use.
If there's no improvement, delete all calendar accounts and add them back. With an iCloud account, all you have to do is uncheck and recheck the box marked Calendars & Reminders in the iCloud preference pane.
    Step 2
You may be trying to access an invited event that you declined, or one that was rescheduled after you accepted it. The error message should give you a clue as to what it is. If the calendar is on iCloud, you can bring up the Calendar on the website and select
              Show Declined Events
from the popup menu with the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page. The declined events will appear in gray, and one of them should match what's shown the error message. [Credit for this solution to ASC member Psi.]
    Step 3
If you get the error when trying to accept an invitation in an email attachment, it's because the organizer didn't properly create the event.
    Step 4
Follow the instructions in this support article. Modify as necessary for a calendar that's not on iCloud.

  • SPC Chart and Tag Name starting with a Number

On a 11.5.3 (latest build) install, we've found that SPC Charts don't like tag names that start with numeric characters.  The data points just don't plot.  I can right click and get the data, but there are no points on the chart.  All other applets work fine with the same tags.  Has anyone else seen this?

    Hey Rick,
We did try that and it worked.  Also when creating the tags in the UDS Admin, I don't believe the UDS Admin will allow for this scenario (along with funky characters like pipes "|").  However, we are using an alias file (export from Historian into Excel, into SQL, and tweaked via Xacute) where the UDS Admin rules aren't enforced, which might be the inherent problem here.
I just thought that if the applets allowed it, the iSPCChart should also.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
the .Net 2.0 framework is an application layer which is only used with Microsoft Windows !
Therefor the zip file you have seems to also be for Windows only and can not be run in OSX.
If you are running the CoH game while in Windows, you can download the .Net framework from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=0856eacb -4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5
Later versions of the .Net framework can be found, when scrolling down on that website.
As said you can only use this when running Windows on your Mac, not in OSX.

    Reset
Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. No data will be lost.
If that doesn't work, go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars, delete the account, exit out, go back in and re-enter your information. For some reason during iOS updates it's common for mail settings to get messed up. Starting over is the easiest way to rectify the situation.

  • PowerShell add Printer Permissions where the printer name starts with...

I have a printer server that has printers for multiple buildings. All the buildings have abbreviations like "BLD" for example, so my printers start with the same building abbreviations
like “BLD-Printer1”. Is there a quick an easy way to set permissions on printers where the name starts with something like BLD?
    I'm a total noob with PS .<o:p></o:p>

Just wanted to point out that in addition to using .NET/WMI to enumerate the printers, Windows 8 has a native PowerShell implementation you could use. It supports remote management, so you can even use it from a Windows 8 client to target your Windows Server
    2008 R2 instance.
    $printers = Get-Printer -ComputerName $printServerName -Name bld*
    foreach ($printer in $printers) {
Set-Printer -ComputerName $printServerName -Name $printer.Name -PermissionSDDL #fill in your permissions here
Full description of these cmdlets: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh918357.aspx
Excellent - Just fill in the SDDL.
Does this work on WS2008R2 PrintManager Queues?  I find no -SDDL except on WS2012.  WS8 is missing this parameter. Is it only available on WS8 Enterprise?
WS2008R2 also does not seem to support this.
Get-Printer and its cousins are wrappers around The Q functions posted above.  The API has no security bits before WS2012.  Look at the MSDN and Technet articles for this CmdLet and the other "Printer" CmdLets.

  • Clamxav scan came up with dev/fd/3 can't open file

    Hi all!
I'm running a clamxav scan as i am worried that i may have something on my comp after a security compromise on one of my gaming accounts. It has come up with
"WARNING: Can't open file /dev/fd/3: Permission denied"
and as i have no idea about computers or what on earth this file is or used for i am not sure if it is anything i need to worry about...
    Thanks for your help!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's nothing to worry about, it's actually a little bit of developer code to find the file descriptor of an application, not something a user needs to read or write so just forget about it.
More: +To understand what is going on, first note that "/dev/fd" is a "virtual" thing. It is a kind of a hack (developed for the use of shell scripts, I think) that gives a program a view of *its own* file descriptors.+
+This means that if I have two programs running (e.g., '/bin/bash' and '/usr/bin/du'), and each of those looks in "/dev/fd", they could see different things. Each will see one file for each file descriptor that it has open, and the name of the file will be the number of that open descriptor.+
+For example, by default, each program will have three open file descriptors, 0, 1, 2 (stdin, stdout, stderr). Different programs will have different ones open, so what you saw above is the result of that. The shell looked in "/dev/fd" and saw a number of files, one for each of its open files. The names were then passed to 'du' on the command line, as if the command were+
    +du -ks /dev/fd/0 /dev/fd/1 /dev/fd/2 /dev/fd/3 ...+
+Then 'du' runs. Without looking at the code, I can only guess, but what has to be happening is that 'du' has closed FD 3, and when it tries to get information about '/dev/fd/3', the kernel gives it an error. The error is "EBADF" (see '/usr/include/sys/errno.h'), because access to "/dev/fd/3" is the same as accessing file descriptor 3 (for example, stat("/dev/fd/3",...) is the same as fstat(3,...))."+
