Can't open garageband 11 !!

i just download it from app store and its said that it download and after it finish it start download again !!
whats wrong with it ?

The versions of GarageBand (or any iLife app) does not use the designation for the calendar year in its version number. You need to check by going to your Application Folder; do a control+click (or right click) and click on Get Info to find the version number. [If your window view is Column View then it will be in the rightmost column after highlighting the app.] Check to see that the version numbers are the same. Typically, older versions of apps will not open files which post-date them. It is also critical that the Macs be somewhat of the same era so that the architecture is the same. For example, you would not be able to update GarageBand to the current version if your older Mac is PPC G4 with a low-speed (under 867 MHz) CPU.

  • Can I open garageband files in logic?

I am going to be upgrading to Logic Express from garageband in a week or so, and I have some more questions:
    Okay, my first question is; Can I open garageband 08 files in logic, and if I do will they be mixed the same? And my second one is a bit more complex;
On garageband there is an option to place software drums into little bricks and make them into beats. Can I record real drums and map the individual hits onto a grid with Logic?
    Thanks---

    Yes.

Yes, though in a different way than in Garageband.

  • Logic Pro 9.0.0 can't open GarageBand 6.0.4 files

As the title reads "Logic Pro 9.0.0 can't open GarageBand 6.0.4 files" - any ideas? Logic just says files were created by a newer Logic pro version, they were created with GrarageBand not logic so I don't know.

If you upgraded Logic to the latest version (9.1.4) you might be able to open them, in fact I think you can. Garageband is a subset of Logic, so the message you're seeing in Logic is correct.

  • Can't open GarageBand file?

The problem I'm having originated on my iPad. I had created a song, called 'My Song 8', which had taken my quite a while to put togetether.
Everything was working absolutely fine, until the other day when I went to open Garageband (on my iPad), and after the 'Loading My Song 8' bar had filled, the app crashed. I re-opened it a few times, but still the same problem occurs.
To try and recover my song, I used iExplorer to transfer the file to my computer, and I then tried to open it on Garageband there - however, I have exactly the same problem. It loads all the instruments, and the loading bar fills, then the app crashes?
I'm a bit stuck, and wondering if anyone knows a way to recover my file?
If it helps I'm using an iPad 2 (16GB), and have Garageband 11 (6.0.5), on my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
    Thanks in advance.

What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:
                     GarageBand 6.0.5
GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system.  But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio.  Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

  • Can't open Garageband '11 files in GB '11

I tried opening Garageband 2011 files on my Mac, which runs GB 2009 but I was not able to.  It said I needed to update to the latest version of GB.  I update to 2011 yet when I try opening the '11 files I still get this same message about updating to the latest version of GB.  Why can't I open these files?

  • Can't open garageband

I download garageband from the mac app store. Then I open it and it starts downloading additional files. After installing the additional file garageband closes. and when I try to open garageband, it starts again downloading and installing the additional files. Can you please help

and when I try to open garageband, it starts again downloading and installing the additional files
That can happen, if the download was incomplete, or if GarageBand cannot remember, that it already did the download - usually a permission problem with the GarageBand "Preferences" file; then GarageBand cannot write to your user library to remember that it already installed GarageBand.
I'd try HangTime's fixes for "oddball problems" first, i.e. delete GB's preferences and repairing permissions on your computer, as described in the FAQ, see:

  • Can't opening garageband 08

When I attempt to open GarageBand I get a message that says, "GarageBand unexpectedly quit while trying to use the Audio Unit “Q4 (s)” by “Waves”. This plug-in may require an update." The computer prompts me to find the folder but it doesn't exist. It won't let me open GarageBand and I need to finish a job i started on it asap. what can i do to make it work?

Are you using this AU? Look into the Folder HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and remove it!

  • Can't open Garageband without ProTools running?

I cannot open Garageband by itself without having ProTools running at the same time. I'm guessing that it has to do with ReWire settings, but I don't know how to fix the problem. This wasn't an issue until today when I was using both programs simultaneously, and now when I attempt to start Garageband by itself it won't load fully until I open ProTools. Is there a preference that I need to delete, or a settting to change in order to make Garageband open individually? Thanks!

I guess I should have elaborated more, but I was kind of in a panic when i posted that first message. Anyway, I trashed all the preferences, and that didn't work, and i actually uninstalled and reinstalled garageband, and that didn't work, and i made a new user profile and tried to open the files there, and that didn't work either. Well, I did eventually get one thing to work, which was to open one of my project files, go do something for about twenty minutes, and then come back, at which point the project would be open. Obviously not an ideal situation. So, any thoughts anyone still has on the topic would be great. Thanks!

  • Can't open GarageBand after latest Quicktime Update

Not sure, but I think after downloading latest Quicktime update, GarageBand won't open. It bounces in the dock, then a bar that says "initializing" appears, but never gets past that. Any advice. TIA

Incredible that this can even happen with an update to QT. It happened to me with the 2.01 GB update.
Did all I could to fix it, but no avail. I ended up reinstalling the OS.

  • Can you open Garageband '09 files in Garageband '11?

I've been wondering whether you can open a song made in Garageband '09 in Garageband '11? I want to know before possibly buying iLife 11, since the last time I had a Garageband update I could not open any songs made in previous versions (which frustrated me quite badly).

    Hi here,
I use MacBook Pro OS X version 10.6.7 mid 2009. I upgraded my computer to iLife '11, and I don't have any problems opening projects which were created in GB '09. The problems begun when I save and close GB, and then reopen it again. Depending on the project up to two (2) audio files go missing. My advice to you is, that you absolutely need backup for your files, you need to set up your time machine, so if something happens to your project you'll be able to restore it. I can't tell for sure if you'll have the same issue as I do. In my case it all depends how I choose to save the project created in older version of GB after I open it in GB '11. I refer you to my entry regarding lost aif files. It's quite extensive, but I hope that you'll find something useful there. One thing is for certain, GB '11 offers great new features, new effects, new amps, and you'll enjoy it.
    Cheers!

  • Can't open Garageband project, please help

I was using a Mac Mini, 10.7.5, and recorded some vocal tracks on Garageband 11.  I clicked gospel choir vocal effect at first, and it was fine.  When I wanted to try another effect by clicking another one, the application quit.  When I tried to open the project again, the initializing window popped up, and a few seconds after, it said something like "Garageband quit unexpectedly, do you want to reopen to restore the windows".  When I clicked "reopen", it directed me back to Garageband recent project page without opening the project I was working on.  I tried to open other projects I worked on previously, and those could be opened; just not the one that I worked on recently.
I didn't back up anything with the Time Machine because I never used it before, didn't know how to use it.
I just saved the project to my USB drive, deleted the one on the Mac Mini, deleted Garageband, updated to iOS10.9 something, reinstalled the newest version of Garageband, tried to open the project from the USB drive, failed again.
When I open the "show package content", some mp3 files of my recorded vocals are there.  I don't think all of what I recorded are there, but some.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Which version of Logic? Which OS? Update your profile so we know what you are running!
    P.S. Welcome!

  • I can not open Garageband files

When I open a Garangeband file I get a announcements like this: Audio file “Pista voz-gui#01.aif” not found. That's passing with every file that I have made and I can not hear my records. What can I do?

There's a couple of possible reasons:
    • You have created your GB project by copying over audio regions from another project and deleted the original project. In this case, GB only refers to the original files, and if you delete them, they're gone (to avoid this, you have to save the new project "as Archive", that will include all the copied stuff and the loops).
    • Your project has been corrupted somehow. You can inspect the project by ctrl-clicking it in the Finder, selecting "show package content" and looking into the "Media" folder - but probably the recorded stuff will be gone.
Does this happen with all projects you created in the past, or only some of them?

  • Can't open files I've saved in Garageband.  Lion 10.7.1

I just starting using the Garag Band app that came with my new mac with Lion 10.7.1.  I've used Garage Band before but I am getting alot of "Can't open that file" after I create something and save it and try to open it again.  I believe my Garage Band app is updated.  Almost seems like a bug.  What can I do?  Here's a few of the things that happens:
    1.  I open the app, choose new project, pick "piano", pick choose. New project from Template comes up, I name it and pick "Create" and then I get the message--"The file could not be opened".
    2.  Sooo, I go back to the menu with "new Project" highlight the piano icon and double click on new project and it opens.  I do my project, save, and then when I try to open it again whether I double click on the file or open an existing file or whatever, I can't open the file.  I've used garage band on a previous computer and this has never happened.
Am I saving incorrectly.  I've tried saving it to the default gB file and to the desktop.  It always appears but I cannot open it again.  Any suggestions?

    Hello Clare,

Make sure all your software is up to date by running "Software update" from the apple menu.
    Then try again.
What are the protection settings for your newly created project?
Select a project you cannot open in the Finder, then open the information panel ("File -> Get Info", or type "cmd-I")
Disclose the "Sharing and Permission" section of the panel and look if the permissions are set correctly, and if the file is not locked, make sure the Filename ends with ".band" and "Garageband" is set to open the File.
Correct the protections, if need be.
If the problem persists, close Garageband and move the preference file (
/Users/your user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist) to the trash, log off and in again, and try again.
As a last resort, reinstall Garageband

  • I can't update iPhoto, GarageBand nor iMovie, and I can't open iPhoto at all.

I can't update iPhoto, GarageBand nor iMovie, and iPhoto is the only one I can't open at all. I bought my Macbook half a year ago and when I try to update the Apps it says it's being modified and then that there was an error with Apple Store ):

There is an issue with update servers today, so you'll have to wait anyway.

  • Can't open a project in Garageband.

I have Garageband on my ipad mini and have created a few projects with no problem, but as of this morning I can't open one of those projects.  When I try to open it says loading and then the screen closes and the app shuts down.  The other projects open just fine.  Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks

As long as you can see the SOng in the My Songs window, you can try to save it to the destop via iTunes FIle Sharing, delete it on your iPad and then reimport the SOng back to the iPad via iTUnes FIle Sharing.
However, if the SOng file is corrupted, then you might be out of luck. Maybe you can open it in GarageBand 11 on your Mac to save some audio files or MIDI recordings.
    Hope that helps
