  • Can't open Gmail with Safari 5.0.6 and OS 10.5.8

I just downloaded the latest available Safari onto my Imac.
Now my Gmail page will not open. All I get is a blank white page.
Any thoughts on what causes this?
I am using OS 10.5.8 so that Safari 5.0.6 would be the latest version for me.
I just did the regular software update and now cannot use Gmail.

  • Can't open gmail in safari

today i can’t open gmail in safari. of course google is of no help. anyone else having this issue today?

By use of direct login to their site for webmail, there is no issue here.
A few days or up to a week ago, there had been reported issues with
gmail and they managed to fix some causes of that problem. Of course
when you aren't using a client software to access webmail, there may
be less issues than when it is set up to negotiate incoming/outgoing
    download/uploads.
The problem may be based on your geographic location, too.

  • Cannot open gmail with safari

    Hi,
I am experiencing a problem with Safari, since it does not open my Gmail account. It does not work at all, I cannot open them....I read many comments and forums already, so I see it is any issue for many others.
I already reset Safari, Emptied cache, tried Gmail in html format but the problem still persists, no solutions were found yet.
I have May OSX 10.6.8, Intel Core 2 Duo (software updates do not work in my case since the memory is not big enough)
The current version of Safari on my mac: 5.1.10
Any idea how I could fix this issue?
    Thanks a lot.

If you are on Snow Leopard as your info implies - switch to another web browser -- I am using Opera, others are using Firefox.
Google no longer supports older browsers -- Apple no longer updates snow leopard.
Others option is to update apple os -- before doing so - check to see that your printers, etc are supported for that release -- reason I am still at Snow leopard - any later and its generic driver or no driver for printer and scanner --- the hidden cost of free.

  • Can't open websites with safari

Just got a new MacBook Air today.  Lastest software.  Wifi connection shows internet connection ok.  Cannot open webpages in safari.  It will open a few randow sites but for most, it hangs up and does not load.  Help?

Sorry,  I should have checked the basics.  The wifi setup did not put in correct dns servers.  I changed them and it works fine now.

  • Can't open Gmail with Windows 8.1 (still works with I.E., and this wasn't a problem on Windows XP)

Hi! I've switched from Windows XP to 8.1. I've installed Firefox, but when I try to access gmail, I get a message that says gmail can't be opened because I need to disable cookies. I don't want to disable cookies, and this was never a problem before. Gmail still works through Internet Explorer, which is not as good a browser. How do I get gmail and firefox to play nicely together in the sandbox and still share cookies? Thanks!

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*[[Image:new fx menu]] > Options/Preferences> Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*[[Image:new fx menu]] > Options/Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • MS Web Outlook - can't open attachment with Safari

I am using Web Outlook at work to access mail - via Safari 3.1 on my MacBook Air -
Anytime I try and open an attachment of any type (.xls, .pdf, etc) it says I must right click and save attachment to my hard disk. When I try and do that, I get nothing.
Is there a security change I must do? I have unchecked the block pop ups in Safari - any suggestions?

--Bee: No difference with CNN. Also followed your instructions, i.e., "Safari Preferences > Security >Show Cookies. Type in the name of your credit union. Then select "Delete all" that show up. RESTART Safari. (This is important)."
I typed in the "Https" address of CU and followed your cues -- there was no pop up "delete all" -- so I just killed all refs to CU in the cookie jar. But still couldn't open via Safari. However, I noticed right in front of the HTTPS address using Chrome there is a little green lock followed by green HTTPS letters, which suggested to me that maybe only Chrome can open this (????) Unfortunately, there is an orange lock followed by the word "secure" when I tried to open CU via Opera which cannot open it either. Mystified. No lock on Firefox or Safari. BTW, my computer is showing signs of schizophrenic behavior. In my mail there is a NOTE feature where I mark down certain things, but the last two times I used it today it mailed the note to my in box. Perhaps this behavior is a sign of a darker more serious malady. Steve

  • I can't open websites with Safari on iPhone

My problem started yesterday. There are certain websites I cannot open on my Iphone4 like Facebook, any tumblr blogs, yahoo answers and many more. It says something like, "Safari cannot open the website because it's not connected to the server". Youtube, blogspot, wikipedia, etc all work.
Other phones in my household are all connected to the same internet router - for some reason I am the only one having this problem??
Apps that require internet such as KIK won't work either. I can open KIK, but messages won't load and I can't send anything either.
I really need to solve this problem as quickly as possible. Thanks.

iOS devices require iOS 6. It is kind of misleading for Apple to be advertising those features right now but they will be there when iOS 6 is released.

  • When I open gmail in Safari it opens to the spam tab. Can I change this to the Priority tab?  How?

I would prefer to use Safari, but have a problem with it in connection to gmail, my preferred mail account.  When I open gmail in Safari it always goes directly to the "Spam" tab in gmail.  (I have three gmail tabs for sorting mail:  Priority, Social and Spam.) To get to the mail that I care about (Priority) I have to close that Spam tab and then open the "Priority" tab. How can I change the settings so that when I open Gmail it is the Priority tab content that shows first on my screen?  In Firefox, Priority mail is the first thing I see when I open Gmail. Why isn't this true in Safari? And how can I make it so?

    Hi alanbala,
There are several possible reasons why the new window opens in the background and not in the foreground by default.
    # another installed program is causing this
    # the Firefox main window is set to Always on Top
    # probably a Windows 7 bug
    # possibly a Firefox bug [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790013 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790013]
    What you can do is
    # update your Windows 7 to the latest security patches
    # open Mozilla Firefox in Safe Mode (see KB article [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]])
    # evaluate the other programs installed on your computer
    # open new links on a new tab
Let us know your progress. I will be following this support thread.

    2/13/13 2:18 AM     Mac OS X Update                                            10.7.5
Since the 9/20/13 update, I see a circle with a line through it on top of the Safari application. When I try to execute anyway, I get:
"You can't open the application Safari because it is not supported on this type of Mac."
I vaguely remember some capability to rollback any updates. Is this true?
Where should I go from here?

First you need to clear out some space on the startup volume. You should have at least 9 GB available. Then do as follows.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

Yahoo was stuck on Friday's date until this morning, then it would just spin and not open at all. I can open it with Safari on the same computer. Very odd that you would make me open my yahoo email - on Safari to start this question:)
