Can't open I Tunes (Error message)

I have just tried to open my I Tunes and it is coming up with the following message:
The ITunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (13026)
Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but that hasn't worked.
Cheers
Sam

I have windows 7.  I went into control panel, then select programs, then select programs & features.  Highlight 'iTunes' from the list.  Then select 'repair'.  The program will then reconfigure iTunes.  Once complete I restarted the computer and everything was ok.

Right click your document, hover over "Open with..." and then click "Other".
    Find TextEdit and click "Open".
TextEdit will then do it's best to open your document.
If you have iLife, do the same but instead of opening with TextEdit open with Numbers, Pages, Keynote, e.t.c.
    To download iLife, click here.

  • Can't open iTunes, no error message

I have the itunes icon on my windows but when I open itunes it will pause for a bit with the hourglass thing and then nothing. I looked in my task manager and it doesn't show anything running. I don't get any kind of error message, any ideas???

Does Quicktime work, if not does it give an error message.
    If quicktime works then:
A couple of things to try, spyware can sometimes do this so do a scan. There is a free spyware scanner here:

Then take a look at this article on troubleshooting launch problems.

I would start with the bit about digital signing at the bottom as this can cause error message free failures.

  • Can not open iTunes, get error message 126

Unable to upgrade iTunes to lasted version.  Got error message about a missing file.  Tried to uninstall and reinstalled, after deleting Temp folder from C drive, but still get error message 126.  Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

    Hello mvguillet,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

  • Can't open PDF, getting error message

i have worked on a pdf document which has been sent to me to fill in. i have filled it in and saved a copy and now when i try to open it i get the following message.
'This document enabled extended features in adobe reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.'

    Hello Pranavj,
First - sorry if I am violating rules - posted this same question to another thread that showed the same error message.
I am getting the same message with a file I JUST got off IRS website.
It is the 2011 Form 8829.
I get the error when I double click on IRS link or try to open from local copy.  I can not open it from the web browser or from my local drive after saving it.   Nothing shows - I am never able to view the document - I have NOT made any changes to it.
    I am running Windows 7 64 bit, Adobe Reader X version 10.1.4.
After trying to open the doc (nothing displays) I go to properties, and it says ...
    Title: 2011 Form 8829
    Author: SE:W:CAR:MP
    Created: 12/23/2008P
DF Producer: Adobe LiveCycle DSesigner ES 8.2.
    PDF Version: 1.7 (Acrobat 8.x)
    Tagged PDF: No
    Fast Web View: No
I desperately want to fix this as I have 9 days before IRS sends troops to my house.

  • Can't open iTunes - has error message - Hope someone might be able to help

I had everything working about two weeks ago. I was able to download my CD's on the Nano.. Then my computer had to be reloaded with XP.. Lost iTunes..... I reinstalled it at least three times, but it will not work, even downloaded the new edition.....comes up with the following:
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Etc....
What am I doing wrong? Please advise if you have had the same problem..
    Thank you.

Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Can't open program, no error message

    Hello!
I'm looking for some itunes help ideas. When I try to open itunes, it won't open. I get the hourglass and then nothing, no error messages.
History: My husband received a new ipod for Christmas that wanted the update. I installed the update, but it didn't open. I uninstalled everything, turned off all antivirus software, then reinstalled. Opened and worked find. The next day it's back to not working. I've disabled my antivirus, but that didn't work. I've updated my Windows also.
Any ideas would be so helpful!
    Thanks so much!

FYI I received this. Maybe it will help.
you had to install it thru another computer, its likly antivirus (Especailly anti spam in norton products) is causing some issues.
First goto control panel>Add and remove and uninstall itunes AND quicktime (No music is lost doing this).
Make sure your user account is the administrator and, if there are multible user accounts that "Fast user switching" is off (Located in the control panel)
Scan the system for any malware (aka ad ware/spyware) with a adware scanner. Ewido is good at getting the Qoologic adware which affects itunes.
Goto the PC makers site and make sure you have installed all the updates that apply to your model. Some PCs (Especailly alot of HP models) have issues with itunes and they offer patches to fix it.
Goto the windows/microsoft update site and make sure your version of windows is up to date as well
DIsable your antivirus/security programs and download AND SAVE itunes from the apple.com site. If you are unable to see a download button or the download does not work, try another browser.
Once the download is done, double click it in the location you save it and install it with security programs disabled.

I have tried uninstalling iTunes and all of it's "Apple counterparts" (like Quicktime, Bonjour, etc)

Some required information are needed for us to help you.
    Hi NabeelOmer,
We wonder if you have taken any action such as system restore after this issue occurred.
You might also try this command to restore your access control list.

Visual Studio is a very invasive program and which provides the ability to enumerate projects and solutions for system, user should never try uninstalling it manually without any guidance.
Visual Studio made changes for your whole system, if the file has been moved or deleted this error would occur.
Since you mentioned that you get this error almost everywhere even in control panel. We suggest you repair/reinstall your Visual Studio first and check if it could be fixed.
