Can't open IDML files on CS6 or 5.5 Please help
I just purchased and downloaded IDCS6. I have updated all the plugins. I "saved as" IDCS4 or old, a document I was working on. Now I can't open with either version of ID. Please help! How can I get this document to open? I am using Windows, 64-bit OS
I received the .idml fileyou sent, and it won't open here, either. It looks to me as if it may not be complete. Since you didn't send the .indd file I can't do much more.
I see though that you managed to get the file to export properly. In spite of it being listed now under the Save As menu, making .idml files is an Export function and it is a background task so even though the dialog closes and you can go back to work immediately, the file may not be ready. There is a samll inidcator icon of scrolling horizontal lines that appears on the right of the Menu bar while background tasks are in progress, and you can open the Background Tasks panel from Window > Utilities for a real progress bar. I suspect you may have simply tried to open the original .idml file before it completed.
As far as opeing as Untitled, that unfortuantely, is expected behavior, and it is a pain in the neck. You are creating a new file as far as ID is concerned, so it names it Untitled. When you save, you should probably use a new name to avoid overwriting the original .indd file.

This or a simmilar problems arose just after the last iBA update. There is a very long thread dealing with this.
I had a similar problems and nothing cured it until I contacted support and they gave me a link to upload to their server, they repaired my file and I downloaded it.
It actually took from start to finish about 2 weeks.
I "huge X" on any page usually indicates an image or similar content is missing.
The usual suggestions are to close everything down and do a re-boot.

If you make a copy of your book file and change .iba to .zip, you can open the file and check if the index page really is missing. -

It seems very disappointing to have to keep an old version of illustrator just to open these files. I also find it interesting that many of the key tools that freehand had over illustrator are not translated into the newer versions of illustrator. No. The conversion plugin didn't make it into CS6 so the last import function was CS5.5

At this point, it is the only way to make your files convert into Illustrator although I've had some luck with exporting to EPS or (if your FH graphics are simple enough) save as AI format. Keep your eyes on this project however : http://www.stagestack.com/

As a fellow FreeHand user, I couldn't agree more. Other users of both programs have said this endlessly over the years here. A litany of features are still m.i.a. since FHMX was acquired years ago... including inline graphics. It's almost comical. -

To delete files from your external HDD, attach it to your MBP and drag the unwanted files to trash and then empty trash.
Then you select the files that you want to transfer by 'drag and drop' to the external HDD and trash the files on your MBP.

Try Disable iCloud calender on you iPad and then go to March 2013 on you calender and then it not crash. after that go back and enable iCloud calender again.

I can't open idml file exported from CS6 in Indesign 4 or 6.
I created an InDesign document in CS6 and saved it as an idml file to be able open it on another machine with CS4. Unfortunately I did not save a copy in indd copy in 6. I get a message "Adobe may not support this format, a plug in might be missing." any ideas welcome, otherwise I start over Thanks.

"Adobe may not support this format, a plug in might be missing." is normally opening if you try to open an INDD in a previous version. That's why I supposed that it might be an INDD file with the wrong extension.
If the file is not corrupted you should be able to open any IDML in CS6 but also in CS4.
If you have saved it with the wrong extension, you could try to replace the wrong extension with a correct one.
You write also HDML? Are you sure that it is also not a HTML file? -
Why can't I open my ID CS5 files in ID CS6?
I figured it out, but here was my problem in case someone else encounters the same issue. I was in ID CS6 application and when trying to open a file they were all shadowed. I clicked on the ENABLE drop down and picked "All Documents" instead of "All Readable Documents" and they all lit up. I'm not sure why it was like that being a fresh install, but I'm glad it was an easy fix! Thanks for answering me. I'm bookmarking this site incase I run into any real issues.

Can't open .3DS files in CS6 extended
Hi, I'm trying to open .3DS files in Photoshop CS6 extended, but it is giving me the error message: "could not complete your request because 3d functionality is currently disabled due OpenGL being disabled"
At first it opened a few files and worked fine, then it just stopped opening them and now only displays the error message.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEYou may have to do some homework on the web. The onboard graphics I believe is meant to power 1 monitor. Hard to believe it could power 3. Even in a video card you have to get a high end version to have enough power to do that. But almost all video cards have 2 connectors.
If you look at the back of the nVidia card it should have 2 connectors for monitors, but they are probably not the same, so you may need an adapter for one. If you do not have the manual type in the model number on line to see how it works. -
My client created .idml file in CS5.5. I cannot open it in CS5 or CS4. I open the application, click open, select the document and NOTHING happens... no error message, no document, nothing. Help?

It's a small file.I'm having the same issue, however my file size is 2.5 MB, so it shouldn't be empty. File was 5.5, had them save as .idml file, and when I try to open I get the following message:

Can not open idml file from shared server
No-one is connected to the server and only 1 computer has accessed the server and the file. That same computer has tried to access the file again after crashing and it says that it is being used by someone else - however the file has never been opened by any other computer... please help!
Yes the file is locked - I've tried to delete it but I get this error message "The operation can’t be completed because the item “~aspirations_update~4ndl82.idlk” is in use."

Can't open Security & Privacy preference pane?...please help.

I would be grateful if anyone could assist... I can't seem to open the security & privacy preference pane. I receive the following "Preferences Error" upon trying to click the icon in my system preferences:
First click: You can’t open Security & Privacy preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac.
Second click: Could not load Security & Privacy preference pane.
I noticed the issue this past week when I installed some monitor callibration software. After downloading, the software's interface text did not load (it was simply blank for the drop down menus). The manufacturer tried to help me by clearing font cache and such, but that was not the issue. When he next directed me to the S&P pane, that's when I noticed I couldn't open it to adjust anything.
* I did go into Users & Groups and created a new admin user. I was then able to open the Security & Privacy pane, and load the monitor calibration software without any problems, so it seems to be a user issue I suppose? Tried to trash some security preferences, reinstalled 10.8.2, but with no luck.

Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This does some maintenance routines and 3rd party applications don't load. Sometimes 3rd party applications are the problem. Downloaded itunes tv shows but says it is wrong format
I have an Touch iPod. I downloaded Dexter season 6. iTunes is telling me it is in the wrong format to play on my Touch. Seasons 1-5 worked fine. Did that change video formats that has obsoleted my Touch? All hardware and QuickTime is up to date.

I have about 100+ Events. Some Events have 20 pictures, some have 100 pictures; I have two issues 1) Trying to load an Event and the pictures in the Event I feel takes around 1min+ most of the times (feels like forever) - I dislike the experience 2)
