  • How to uninstall new preference panes from system preferences?

I recently got a new mouse from Logitech, and I installed the downloadable drivers to take advantage of some of the extra features. However, it doesn't work well at all, and it's added a new preference pane titled "Logitech Control Center" that completely overrides my preferences in the "Keyboard and Mouse" settings. Does anyone know how to uninstall new preference panes that are not factory-installed? I noticed that I can right-click the Logitech Control Center icon, and an option comes up for me to "Remove the preference pane," but I'm not sure if this will simply remove the icon from System Preferences without actually uninstalling anything. If anyone can give me some help I'd greatly appreciate it!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It will only remove the pref pane but will not uninstall anything.
I'm not familiar with the Logitech software, but I'd use Spotlight to search for it and delete whatever whatever you find. Or, better yet or use Logitech support.

  • How to get my accounts pane in System Preferences to open.

The accounts pane of System Preferences won't open it simply loads and then System Preferences quits. I have repaired disk permissions many times but it hasn't helped. I don't have the reinstall disks to fix the computer. What can I do?

    Hi Miss Moo,
Could it be anything related to this, it can happen spontaneously also?

  • Cannot open Internet Accounts pane

I have a 2012 MBA running Yosemite 10.10 ... right after OS installation I found myself logged in an old 'me.com' iCloud account which I do not want to have as primary account. So I logged out of it and tried to log in with my preferred iCloud account. By doing that, I got a message which said ".... is already signed in to iCloud. To use this Apple ID as your primary iCloud account, delete it from Internet Accounts and sign in again." So I tried to open Internet Accounts and got a return message " Preference error - could not load Internet Accounts preference pane"
    Any idea which could help?
    Thanks...

    here the console messages:

What are the correct mail account settings and more importantly the correct DNS settings
Thank you for any help you may be able to provide
    Cheers

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • How can I open Internet explorer only pages on a mac? The website that I need to access only permits internet explorer

How can I open Internet explorer 'only' pages on a mac, without creating a drive partition and installing windows separately?
I've tried winbottler, but it doesn't seem to serve my purpose. The web site that I'm trying to access only permits Internet explorer.

Microsoft has not written IE for Mac for years so unless you want to create a parition and install Windows, or user a Windows emulator, you're out of luck for installing IE on a Mac.
The web site that I'm trying to access
There might be a work around for you since it's just the one site.
Go to the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
    Enable the Develop menu.
Now click Develop from the Safari menu bar then click User Agent > IE 9, 8, or 7

  • My Apple ID is valid but can't open icloud account how do i proceed?

My "Apple ID is valid but can't open icloud account" is the message I receive when I try to sign in to icloud so how do i proceed?  I want to install to my ipad and iphone Apple's locator service in my systems, I have a PC for work reasons where I do my apple safari and Itunes and now installed icloud but I don't recall having an icloud account.  I guess I do have an accout but how do I not confuse it with my current Apple Id account as I retrieve or create a new icould account?  Thanks.

You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID.  You can only sign into an existing account on a PC.  You first have to create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

  • I cannot open the general pane in system preferences. I get a message saying there is an error. Any suggestions

I cannot open the general pane in system preferences. I get a message saying there is an error. Any suggestions?

The first thing I would suggest is for you to go to the folder containing your catalog, using your system browser. There will be a folder that has the extension .lrdata. Delete that folder, and then try to start Lightroom. If that doesn't work, replace your catalog with your most recent backup.

  • Can't open internet explorer

When I updated to Firefox 3.6.3. I can't open Internet Explorer anymore. Clicking on the icon just dies, and going through the Search function also fails. If I do a system restore back to before the update, it will open, but Firefox will NOT.

  • Is there any way to download firefox onto a zip drive or CD so that I can transfer it onto a laptop that can't open internet any other way?

I can't open internet explorer on my computer for whatever reason and have given up trying various scans to figure out the problem. I'd like to download firefox as an alternate internet program, but obviously, can't get online to download it. Is there anyway to download it onto a zip drive from another computer, and then transfer it to my faulty laptop?

Yes. You can download the Firefox installer and copy the file to an USB stick or other medium and install Firefox from that drive.
You can find all Firefox versions here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html

  • Can't re-install pane in System Preference

I deleted one of pane from "Other" categroy in System Preference.
This pane was installed when I installed an application (GeekTool from App store).
It was automatically installed when I installed the application.
After deleting the pane, I wanted to re-install pane in the SystemPrefernce,
    but I couldn't any more.
I uninstalled GeekTool and re-installed again, but Pane was not installed.
Is there any setting file which manages such Pane history?
I can't find anything in the menu of System Preference.

The computer would have to have absolutely identical hardware and have been manufactured at the same time. Discs for a 20" iMac from 2009 will not work with a 20" iMac from 2007 and vice versa.
You might get those discs to work, but you'd be breaking the EULA, I believe.

  • Unable to enter login name in Network pane of System Preferences

I cannot enter the @ sign into the login in the Network pane of System preferences. Its not the keyboard since it works here. I was ready to do a backup and it wouldn't work since login info was not entered. This happened after I set up a new user account for my husband. I have since deleted that account and repaired permissions with disk utility. The only user left is me and thats the admin account – my husband swears he didn't do anything – any ideas? I have a slow internet connection so updating the 335MB combined update is not an option. Thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem on my laptop. Also when I click on the Sync pain, System Preferences hangs up and I have to force quit. The result is that I cannot Sync my laptop. I have the latest software updates installed and I have run Disk Utility, without help.

  • HT3775 I can not open a video movie clip, the system ask for a codec, how can a set up that automatlicly

I can not open a video movie clip, the system ask for a codec, how can a set up automatlicly?

The problem was resolved a small manipulation - on stage Basic Configuration,
    point 3 "Configure CA Introscope"
I forgot to add to the list of CA Introscope Enterprise Managers link to my manager.
Thus it is necessary to take into account that the path should be correct (usually for linux - /usr/sap/ccms/apmintroscope) and the directory should be applied appropriate privileges.
Then in paragraph "Byte Code Adapter Installation" - there are all the necessary data, and it starts to work correctly
