Can't open iPhoto with latest software update

I'm running iPhoto 11 on my Mac using OSX 10.9.1 On Dec.12th I updated the iPhoto software to the latest version. When I try to open iPhoto on my Mac I get an alert box saying that I must upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto or I can't open my library.I've rechecked the latest iPhoto software and it says that it's installed. Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Bill

As Larry has already pointed out if you had iPhoto 7 before the upgrade you'll need download the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1, launch it and run it on your iPhoto library. It will be located in your Applications/Utilities folder.  Then iPhoto 9.5.1 will be able to open and use your library.
Happy New Year

  • Can't open iphoto library after software update

Hello, I recently updated to iPhoto 2.0.1 and now can't open my photo library. Here's the error msg i receive when i open the app: "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto."
I only have 1 version of iphoto on my hd.
    Thanks!!
    Molly

I only assumed the trouble stemmed from an auto software update. But when you say "a photo CD recently acquired" do you mean any CD with photos on it? I get a few of those a week in my line of work and have never had a problem before. Could a CD of images have corrupted my application?
Also, I just got a new HD onto which all of my data was transferred, could this have precipitated the problem?
This indeed is the something I was not telling you.
Do let me know Brie Fly.
    Thank you.

  • I CAN NOT open Iphoto with the new Mavericks????

I can not open Iphoto with the new Mavericks, I changed Dutch for English but stil nothing ....

    Hi Kevertjes,
Thank you for the update.  I recommend verifying that you are signed in with the same Apple ID associated with or used to purchase iPhoto on the App Store under the Store menu.
If you are signed in with an alternate Apple ID, I recommend signing out of the App Store, signing back in with the correct Apple ID, and then trying the update again:
    Sign out
    Choose Store > Sign Out.
Sign in using an Apple ID
Choose Store > Sign In, or click Sign In in the Quick Links section. The Quick Links section is located in the right part of the window shown when you click Featured, Top Charts, or Categories in the toolbar.
Enter your Apple ID and password, and then click Sign In.

  • HT5037 I now can't open iPhoto! have just updated it, downloaded everything they asked for and still can't open it!

I now can't open iPhoto! have just updated it, downloaded everything they asked for and still can't open it!

To be able to help, we will need more details.
What is your current iPhoto version, Anthony?  And your MacOS X version? And what was the iPhoto version you upgraded from?
What happens, when you try to open your iPhoto library?
have just updated it, downloaded everything they asked for and still can't open it!
You say, you downloaded everything - did you download the Library upgrader? And did you install and run it? Was there any error message?
If your iPhoto library has been upgraded ny the upgrader, you should be able to upgrade it to your current iPhoto version by double clicking it to launch iPhoto on it. Have you tried that?  What happens when you try?
One problem to check for - iPhoto may be unable to open your iPhoto library, if it is not on a dsk formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled). Check the formatting of the drive with your iPhoto library.

  • Problem with latest software update

Hi I've ran the latest  software update for my iPhone 4S but now it's running really slow has anyone else had this problem ?. I'm at home while writing this so connected to home wifi but still took me at lest 5 min to do this.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
    If the issue persists...

  • Can't shut down since latest Software Update

Software Update failed, see thread on following post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6866395#6866395
Basic summary - Software Update wouldnt install latest Security & Safari updates. I managed to verify & repair my disk using Disk Utility. Software update still didn't work, so I downloaded latest security update & safari 3 manually. Restarted ok.
However, I now can't shut down my laptop. Apple Menu > Shut Down just doesn't work. Nothing happens. Same with Restart or Force Quit. Sleep is working fine.
To shut my computer down now, I have to press & hold the on/off button.
This has happened a few times over the last couple of years, but since latest update its constant, have to force shut down every time. Disk is verified ok by Disk Utility.
Not keen on doing a full OSX re-install just yet, so any ideas?
    Cheers
    Brad

    HI B Real,
How much free drive space do you have on your PBook? If it's less then 15%, that could be your answer. The easiest way to find this information is to open a Finder window. At the bottom of that window the free drive space will be displayed. If it's 15% or less... that could very well be your culprit. Transfer files to an external drive/iDisk/iPod, or CD/DVD's if your PBook has a SuperDrive.
Also, maybe your Software Update preference file is corrupted. Try this... locate this
file: com.apple.softwareupdate.plist It's here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
    I hope something helps...

  • Can't open GarageBand after latest Quicktime Update

Not sure, but I think after downloading latest Quicktime update, GarageBand won't open. It bounces in the dock, then a bar that says "initializing" appears, but never gets past that. Any advice. TIA

Incredible that this can even happen with an update to QT. It happened to me with the 2.01 GB update.
Did all I could to fix it, but no avail. I ended up reinstalling the OS.

  • Can't open iPhoto, wants latest version., Can't open iPhoto, wants latest version.

I was sent a CD of photos which included the iPhoto library file.  I tried to open the file but got the message that it wasn’t compatible with the older version of iPhoto on my Mac.  I didn’t think this would be a problem and just browsed to the folder with the photos in and looked at them in the Finder.
However when I tried to open iPhoto I now get the message that I need to install a later version and I can only quit the app.
I am using a PPC iMac with the latest available OS 10.5.2 and iPhoto 7.1.5 so I can’t upgrade.
I have tried holding down the control and option keys on opening iPhoto and rebuilding the database but still get the same message. I have also tried creating a new library but get the same message and have to quit.
I have a Time Machine backup – what files or folders will I need to restore?. I suspect that the photo library itself is not the problem as I get the same result if I try and open any of the 3 iPhoto libraries I have.
    Thanks

problem solved - I threw away the new library file which was still sitting on the desktop, emptied the trash and now iPhoto opens!

  • Problems with latest software update - release 10.1.0.2019

I have two problems that were not there with the previous software update.
1), I can no longer open attachments.  The error message reads: cannot create a temp file for the specified attachment.
    2) can no longer open text messages - no error messages just won't open
    Help!

Backup first and use BlackBerry Link to reload your OS. After reloading, do not restore your data. See if still occured.
    Thanks and good luck!

  • HT1338 Having problems with latest software update - update just sitting in "moving items into place". Been like this all night - any suggestions ?  Running mount ion lion on a MacBook Pro.

System not moving out of software update.

OSX Mavericks is so riddled with bugs, it's extremely frustrating.
I made the mistake of upgrading to a new rMBP a few weeks ago (which came with Mavericks) and so far I've experienced
random issues with the machine not waking up from sleep
    display output garbled
videos freezing when played in fullscreen on quicktime
applications failing to load, with an error code of -600, as well
I've resorted to rebooting my laptop every time I want to use it, or rebooting every couple of hours, because it seems that Mavericks can't handle more than a couple of hours of runtime without crashing.
Apple, get your *** into gear, fix this crap, and find a new quality control team.

  • Apple TV Gen 2 - "sleep shortcut" doesn't work with latest software update.

I used to be able to hold down the "select" button when on the Apple TV home menu, and the box would go to sleep.  However, after the last software update, this no longer works.  The only way to put the box to sleep is to head through the settings menu.  This is annoying and time consuming.  Any ideas why the shortcut was disabled?  Is there something new?  Any plans to fix the "bug"?

YUP..!! Just updated the device and it works fine again... Thank you for your swift reply.. Enjoy your Sunday...
