Can't open iTunes on new Tower - Windows 8 - Help!

My hard drive crashed and I had to purchase a new tower with Windows 8.  I had Carbonite and was able to recover all my data.  I have downloaded iTunes and it will not open.  I have tried many of the fixes that I have seen on this site.  Nothing helps!  Anything new to try?

following this question.  I have had to double click multiple times in the past - but it doesn't seem to want to launch.  I am running windows 8.1.  Fortunately we have another computer with XP on it and can access it.

  • Can't open iTunes on new iMac

After migrating all my documents from a ProMac to an iMac I can't open iTunes in new iMac.  "iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."  When I select "Download iTunes" I get "No Updates available" and an unknown error (-42408)

Since it's brand new I'd call AppleCare and let them walk you through it. They will have you try things and you can give immediate feedback and they will take you to the next step. That would take us too long here. Apple's service is very good.

  • Can not open iTunes 10.1 in windows

    Hi all,
I updated iTunes to 10.1 2 weeks ago, and had been using normal until 3 days ago. From now on, I couldn't open iTunes, no errors message appear, but iTunes just don't run. However, I still find the iTunes application in Task Manager. I also uninstall and re-install few times but the result was nothing but blank...

How can I reinstall the Quicktime 10.1 again?
Depends on what you want to re-install. You could, for instance, re-install the entire system to re-install the structure embedding in the OS, system codec components, the QT X Player v10.1, and all other supporting software. On the other hand, if all you want is to re-install just the player GUI, you could simply delete the current copy of the player and re-install a new copy expracted from a system installer package or a copy it fromn a secondary system boot drive if you keep an emergency startup drive on hand.

  • Can't open iTunes on my pc - Windows error 127

All of a sudden I am unable to open iTunes on my pc - i get the above error message - windows error 127 please reinstall iTunes.
I am worried that I will lose some or all of my music and apps - has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi joolyjools,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are getting an alert that informs you to reinstall iTunes on your computer and you are concerned for your music and apps. If you delete iTunes and reinstall fresh you shouldn’t lose any content from the iTunes Library because the content is not actually stored in the iTunes program. The following article will assist you uninstalling iTunes and its components. After the uninstall, make sure to restart your computer and then you can download iTunes fresh from the Apple website.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • Can't open Itunes on my pc, Please help me!

HI, i was updating itunes around 2 weeks ago. After i tried to start itunes but i won't start. I have tried to reinstall the program, but it didn't work either.

    1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REAPIR.

  • Can't open iTunes after accidently unplugging iPod--help!

Having problems opening iTunes after I accidently unplugged my 60G video iPod while it was loading. iTunes kind of froze, with the spinning beach ball, and I had to force quit to stop it. I restarted the computer for good measure, but now, when I try to open iTunes, I get the message:
"The iTunes Music Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."
Of course, the library file is NOT locked, NOT on a locked disk, and I DO have write permission for the file.
Can anyone help with this matter?
    Thanks,
    Terry

Try running Disk Utility and perform a "Repair Permission".
Also check manually through finder the permissions on "iTunes" folder as well as on the files in that folder.

  • I can't open iTunes 7.2 on Windows XP

I installed the new 7.2 iTunes and when I tried to open it.
A box opens up and says iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close now sorry for any inconvenience. There are no strange numbers. It ask me if I want to send an error report to microsoft or not. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime but it still doesn't work and I get the exact same "send error" message. Please help. Also when I open quicktime it works fine so I do not believe the standalone player will help.

Thank you I have found that I also must downgrade to the previous version and just wait until they fix the problem...for those who view this I suggest you go to the link that Timmy suggested and download itunes 7.11 from the link there.

  • Right click 'Open link in new tab/window' help

Hi, since I updated my Safari to 6.1 last night (running on Lion) the right click options for "Open new link in tab..." have swapped around and it's only a small thing but it's already annoying me, anyway to swap them back around so 'open in new window' is the first option again instead of '... in new tab'? I've been opening new windows in tabs all night unknowningly.

Hi Andy. There's no way to change it back that I know of.

  • I can't open itunes when I click onn the icon the message I get is "error new itunes library"

I can't open itunes..when I click on the icon on my desk top I get the message" error new itunes library". I have windows 7.

    Hi beachy85!
When you remove iTunes, your music on your computer (and your iPod, too) will be saved.
    Let's try this:
Go to "Add or remove programs" in Control Panel.
Find iTunes and QuickTime from this list, and remove them both.
Then, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the remainging installation files.
For information on the WICU, see this:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Then, go to this page, and QuickTime (get the Standalone version, not the one that includes iTunes in the pack):
    QuickTime download
Then, install iTunes from this page here:
    Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
After you've done that, restart your computer.
Now, try opening iTunes again. Do you still get that error message, or not?

  • Can't open iTunes. When I attempt, the following message appears: You are attempting to add a new iTunes U collection but iTunes U is disabled. Would you like to enable iTunes U?

I Can't open iTunes. When I attempt, the following message appears: You are attempting to add a new iTunes U collection but iTunes U is disabled. Would you like to enable iTunes U?  If I click either yes or no, the same box just reopens.  As far as I know, I have not done anything with iTunes U.  The software is up to date and I have also reinstalled itunes.  Any ideas?

Since this problem, I was able to reinstall again and reboot, and then 'stop' while the library was being opened (that was another window that I could not close, that would come up before the error message, this time I chose to stop it).  Now only music I have purchased appears, none of my other >1,000 albums I manually added via my CD collection.  About 10% are in different music folders (I don't know why they aren't in the same one), but the other 90% are missing.  Any ideas??

  • I can not open iTunes. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get this message when I try to open itunes. can not find MSVCR80.dll     Then I get ERROR 7 (windows error 126)   I tried reinstalling iTunes but that did not help. Please Help Me!

I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes   Error 7 (Windows error 126)   Please Help me!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
