Can't open iTunes or reinstall because of corrupt file ituneslocalized.qtr
All of a sudden I am having issues with iTunes. I couldn't open up the program. I would get an error message while it was starting to load. It says "error writing to c:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunesResources\nb.lproj\iTunesLocalized.qtr Verify that you have access to that directory." I do. I am in the admin trying to open it up, like always before. So I decided to uninstall and then try to reinstall. It did uninstall but now when I try to reinstall I get the same msg. I go to the folder containing the file and try to delete it. I get the error message "Cannot delete iTunesLocalized: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." I tried renaming, moving, replacing it with the same file that I sent over from another computer, all of which still gives me the same error message. I tried using Unlocker and it does not find any unlocking handle for me to unlock so I can delete. I ran chkdsk and it seems to do nothing. I tried deleting the file in DOS and still doesn't work. I ran my antivirus (avast) in safemode and still nothing helped. Whats the deal with this file?????
This link tells you how to run a disk check.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315265
It is best to do it from My Computer.
Right click on the c: drive and select properties>>Tools>>error checking>>Check now. Tick all the boxes. It start after you restart you computer and takes a while so do it when you don't need your computer.
On renaming, I was wondering about renaming something like:
c:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesResources
Rather than the iTunes folder.
But only if the scan doesn't work. It does sound like some kind of filing system corruption problem.

I cannot open itunes. Getting error message: "the file iTunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"
What do I need to do so I dont lose all my loaded music, etc.?
ThanksIf you still have an issue you may have to see about using the iTunes version (application) included with Snow Leopard 10.6 from the installer or an another one if available online, and see if that will install.
Sometimes you may have uninstall the bits left in your system by the earlier (or later) iTunes installers; as they all leave a trace and these can stop a different version of iTunes from being installed.
Not sure if the following site/link will tell the method...

I received notification of ANOTHER iTunes update being available, so I attempted to install the update on my Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. During the update process, two pop-up announced that I had a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" Runtime Error, R6034 and another pop-up that states "iTunes" iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. However, I cannot open iTunes. I get the same pop-up telling me to reinstall iTunes.
I had many songs in my iTunes library that came from sources other than iTunes, mostly my own CDs. Plus, I have nearly $100 credit remaining in the iTunes store. I'm converned I will lose the songs and store credit if I reinstall iTunes. So my questions are:
1. How can I reinstall iTunes?
2. If I reinstall it, will I lose my store credit and non-iTunes songs?
Thanks,

Nothing should be lost... However... it is both Prudent and Recommended that a backup should have been created and maintained. -
all of a sudden I'm getting a 'itunes.exe - system error It says the program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I have tried to reinstall and still can't open itunes. help!

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates -
I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 126) Please Help me!
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

"The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." Updates were only offered by Apple when I'd open iTunes. Now I can't open iTunes. How can I access the newest iTunes as an update, not a new program?
this just started w/ me yesterday. I was running 10.5.3, and nothing changed - the message just appeard out of nowhere. I update to the latest iTunes 10.6 but the message is the same.
Sounds like probably some sort of Library file corruption.
The two options available in the message box are "Download" and "Quit". Download is useless because I'm already running the latest. Quit is pretty useless.
I was going to just create a new Library and re-import all my music. Of course, all my iPhone sync settings are going go have to be recreated. -

Hello adniltrawets
If you are having issues with iTunes starting up, check out the article below to troubleshoot and isolate the issue. It will walk you through starting up in Safe Mode as well as testing in a new user to see if it does not the same thing there.

I can't open ITunes, I have an error message that says MSVCR80.dll is not found. Is anyone able to help solve this issue for me. I have tried to unistall and reinstall ITunes twice but continue to get the same error message.
A msi file is short for microsoft installer. It normally is for installation, removal, and maintenance for a program. So iTunes.msi would be used for the updating of the program. For some reason it isnt finding this so we can't update, install, or remove it.
From what I have seen windows installer cleanup utility solved related problems before.
I found this forum about removing and installing a new iTunes. It was about someone who was trying to isntall iTunes, and was looking for msi file and asked for help. Using this should allow you to be able to install iTunes. It won't give you the msi file but will allow you to isntall iTunes over again.
This was what was said.
Another option in case you can't get an msi. (Or even if you can ... the msi's mentioned in the messages may be damaged rather than missing.)
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
iPhoto has somehow uninstalled itself, or I've done something wrong. If I try to open iPhoto, it gives me this message: "You can't open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete". I have an iMac OS X. How do I reinstall iPhoto please?
What is your iPhoto version and how did you install it originally?
If it came with a new mac and Lion or Mt. Lion installed, you can delete iPhoto from the Applications folder (don't empty the Trash) and download it again from the "Purchased" tab of the App Store.
If you have bought the iLife CD, reinstall iPhoto from the installation media, after deleting it from the Application folder.
Or if your Mac came with an older MacOS X, but iLIfe preinstalled, use the system Install CDs, see Terence Devlin's post here: Re: My iPhoto isn't working. Error message says "you can't open the app "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete.
Regards
Léonie
P.S: This may not only be a problem of a broken iPhoto. What did you do, directly before this happened? Did you run a program, that will clean the Mac to save space, like "Clean My Mac" or "Mac Keeper"? These little helpers can be risky and overdo it and remove too much. Then it might be safer to reinstall your system, because other essential files might be missing now. -
