Can't open links and go to Google and Wikipedia

After I've been logged on to my Mac for a while, maybe 30-60 minutes, I can't open any links from any website and programs like Skype. It doesn't say "error" or "couldn't connect..." or anything, it's just a white page. And for some reason I can't go to Google or Wikipedia, which is weird. I'm using Safari but i have also tried Firefox and I've tried it on my guest account, but it's still the same. The only way to solve it is to restart the computer. I can access Google via the search bar, but the links doesn't work. For example: I tried to open the Apple article on Wikipedia from Google. This is the url that loads: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=10&ved=0CF8QFjAJ&ur l=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FApple_Inc.&ei=ESKiUZeFNYjBPP3jgJAL&usg= AFQjCNE0AxysxuP7bGhOrqFsVPjF-GfeTA&sig2=NUskKCDyWoU-PgeArov7ZA&bvm=bv.47008514,d .ZWU and the page is white. As you can see Wikipedia doesn't start to load.
Does anybode else have this problem? I have googled, but I couldn't find any answers.

Ignore that. Safe mode will give you different results that you cannot bring across. The problem seems to be that your DNS resolution is borked, this is what translates web adresses (www.webaddress.com) into IP adresses (195.234.65.23). Open terminal on your normal Mac install (non-safe mode) and type this:
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
Then try again. If that does not fix it, then:
Go to Applications > Utilities > Network Utility.
Click on the Ping tab and type www.google.com in the host box.
The first line will look something like this:
ping google.com
PING google.com (192.0.32.10): 56 data bytes
you should then get 6 lines like this trying to contact google:
64 bytes from 192.0.32.10: icmp_seq=0 ttl=240 time=98.767 ms
64 bytes from 192.0.32.10: icmp_seq=1 ttl=240 time=96.521 ms
64 bytes from 192.0.32.10: icmp_seq=2 ttl=240 time=95.766 ms
64 bytes from 192.0.32.10: icmp_seq=3 ttl=240 time=95.638 ms
64 bytes from 192.0.32.10: icmp_seq=4 ttl=240 time=95.414 ms
64 bytes from 192.0.32.10: icmp_seq=5 ttl=240 time=93.367 ms
Press CTRL+C if they carry on past 6 lines then you should get this:
6 packets transmitted, 6 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 93.367/95.912/98.767/1.599 ms
The numbers do no matter except for the packet loss one. just above. If that is 100% then your ISP is to blame. If not and you still can't get on google, post that output here and I will tell you what the problem is.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically. 
You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85 
If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

You are more versions behind on Java updates with having Java 6 U11, current is 6 U22.

Can't open links in pdf file 9.3.2

I have installed Reader 9.3.2 and all of the sudden I can't open links within a pdf file. I get a block message and it doesn't give me the option to choose Allow. When I go to Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager > Settings everything is grayed out. I had to revert back to 9.3.1 for it to work again. Does anyone know the fix for this. Our 9.3.2 install was streamlined into a 9.3.0 msi package and then installed through a GPO.

same problem here.. but I figured it out.. Believe it or not, if you just wait 5-10min it will come up. I also "End-Task" on some exe that start or had "3D"in the name and after that adobe would come up fast when opening pdf's. Think you need to disable some of the internet related items under preferences.

Can't open links in Skype, WLM nor saved HTML (Firefox won't respond)

I see there is no answer for the problem that guy have had and I have the same problem - links from skype and from windows live mail won't open and there's more - FF doesn't open html files that are saved to pc, even thou I just saved em, but when I click on em happens nothing and when I rightclick and choose open with FF happens nothing.
It worked for couple of weeks with no problem and suddenly today links just make skype flash exactly as in christianhbergs description and in windows live mail they are becoming purple but firefox doesn't react.
as soon as I make IE as my default - links are working, but not with firefox.
So I assume the problem is in firefox (not in skype or WLM nor in Win8)
(running Win8 and FF25.0)
And none of the solutions you gave us in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961242#answer-497345 work.

CS6 was the last version capable of opening Pagemaker files. It's included with Cloud subscriptions, so if you don't have it installed (or an earlier version) you can download it from your cloud subscription.
To open them you use File > Open..., but the quality of conversion can range between nearly perfect and total garbage, depending on the PM file and the status of links (unembed images before trying to convert).

Gnome-Terminal can't open links anymore

I'm using Awesome as "DE" and gnome-terminal as my default terminal.
The Problem is that I can't open links in gnome-terminal anymore (through right click->open link). I get the Error:
Could not open the address "$Link"
Operation not supported
In the "gnome-default-applications-properties" I set "Custom" and used "chromium" as command.
Does somebody maybe know what the problem could be or at least where I can get a bit more error logs?

What is the output when you run 'x-www-browser' in a console? It *should* work as I just had to investigate the very same issue this past weekend and it cleared up the problem for me.
Edit: Oh wait, I just re-read your first post...instead of right-clicking, try control+click. That's what I use.

Can't open links/hyperlinks in my mails....

Maybe its not the right forum, but I havn't been able to find help elsewhere. I'm using Outlook for Mac 2011 but can't open links/hyperlinks in my mails. The cursor turns into a hand as expected, but nothing happens when I try to activate the link. My default browser is Safari. Please help if anyone can..

I don't use Outlook so I cannot test anything here.
Is Outlook the only application that this occurs?
If it is only Outlook, I would suggest that its a setting or bug in Outlook causing the issue.
Instead of just clicking on the link, try Command (or right) Click and see if there is an 'Open Link' or 'Open URL' selection in the contextual menu.
If you can open the link that way, see if there is a setting in the preferences in Outlook that stops links being opened.

[Solved] Thunderbird can't open link in Firefox after update

Today there were updates for Thunderbird and Firefox (and a few other). After that Thunderbird can't open links with Firefox. If I click on a link nothing happen. I started Thunderbird from terminal, and when I clicked on a link I got this message:
** (thunderbird-bin:6130): WARNING **: Could not launch default application for URI: Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/firefox-7.0/firefox" (No such file or directory)
I checked /usr/lib and the folder for Firefox was directly under it, no folder "firefox-version" in between. I guess one must change the path somewhere for Thunderbird to find Firefox. Where to change that? I have looked both in the menus in Thunderbird, and in the Thunderbird folders in my home and in /usr/lib, but I don't see the path to Firefox anywhere.

Can't open links/drop screens.

There are a number of sites that I can't open links, or drop screens on. Bodybuilding.com, and watchseries.it are two examples. BB.com I tried to sign up for a competition, and it did not register the submit button at all. Watchseries I tried to click show all links, and it wouldn't. It will however allow me to click other links. I tried removing Firefox, and reinstalling it to no avail.

Could you first of all search on the computer for all copies of the following files.

# libredir2.dll
The first file does appear to have been on your computer. Possibly you will also have the other two.

You can use iCloud to sync your Safari bookmarks between your Mac and your iPad.

• My earlier suggestion for accepting cheques from those who like me do not have any cr. card has still not been accepted.
• You please incorporate features from other good programmes as these are still not there in FireFox and I am using only this since when I first installed it and I do not intend to use any other but these features as I remember were available few years back are still not there in Mozilla so today there should be many more features which can be incorporated in Firefox.
• When the connection is on but not opened i.e. the connection has been switched on but not opened i.e. the modem lights are on and not off then if I go back to a page opened then the Firefox shows loading problem but if I switch off the modem then I can access that very same page. This should be taken care of so that even if I switch on the modem but the connection is not on even then I should be able to see the page 1 or 2 or many pages backwards.
• Then I can not open the history even of today and see that page whereas earlier I could click any history page and it showed even if it was 5 days old (which is my setting) and I have not changed any setting.
• I also thank the all add-on creators because I have installed very few but even then these are very useful.
• I would also suggest that you incorporate these add-ons in the FireFox itself for example I suggested many moons back that let there be a system of any number of tabs being opened (and a few more suggestions) and it is available as add –on in tab mix plus which I have now installed.
• I also request to everyone concerned to give his ideas as to what other features can be incorporated in Firefox and these suggestions be on your website and after a certain number of well wishers and users select the idea you please either develop it yourselves or any well wisher can do it and then it can be incorporated in the Firefox.
• I also give you my suggestion which is not available presently to my knowledge in the browser or add-ons this is that if I move a window in tab mix plus then it is always in a window for each tab but instead of that my suggestion is that I should be able to move any no. of tabs or any other tab to one particular window only and that too in any manner I like in any sequence like at a particular No. of tab say 15th etc.
• I also feel presently having some problem that when I shut down the computer after save and quit pages that are there are not reopened. Loading problem in those pages appears I do not know the reason but Firefox should be able to show all the last page/pages/window/windows I was perusing after I saved and quit.

Please provide more details about your computer along with the graphics card. Also, A log file might help identify the cause of the crash. Please right-click 'My Computer', select "Manage," look under 'Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application' to see if there's an event there from Premiere Pro. If so, copy the contents of that log and paste them here.

I don't know why the change, but the pointer appears in the same way as it does on the main screen, not a pointer. There does not appear to be anyway to change it. You may want to submit a comment to the Features Requests: Acrobat Feature Requests. I also submitted this as a bug.
As a clarification, your "adobe acrobat 11 reader writer" is not informative. There is Acrobat 11 and Reader 11. Writer is not a product as such. So you have referred to Acrobat in a contradictory manner. In the future, please just indicate Acrobat 11 or Adobe Acrobat 11.

Okay , you should only delete EMPTY DUPLICATED folders, not preview folders or any others. I would put them all back. Then just delete any DUPLICATED EMPTY folders, do not disturb any other folders. On iOS switch off DOCUMENTS AND DATA under ICLOUD in SETTINGS. Do this on all iOS devices not just the one. Once deleted DUPLICATE FOLDERS on the mac in MOBILE FOLDERS then exit the LIBRARY. Open PAGES on your MAC and view folders on icloud. Check everything is all there as expected. If okay then DELETE and re-install PAGES app on iOS - THEN switch on DATA and DOCUMENTS in ICLOUD. Now open PAGES. If you have Time Machine on you can recover any 'lost' doc files and restore them from your mac from pages application. Try the process again and do not disturb any folders other than ones I mentioned as this is the system files LIBRARY. It is not a place to be over zealous in moving, altering and deleting folders and files. Take care please.
