Can´t open LR after upgrade to 5.3 without entering a licens key
Can´t open LR after upgrade to 5.3 without entering a licens key
I have seen comments from someone who indicated that every time they started Lightroom they were prompted for the serial number, even though they had already entered it. Is this your situation? I can't remember what the solution is, but I have seen that problem mentioned in the past.

Can't open Finder after Upgrade to Yosemite 10.10
After the Upgrade to Yosemite 10.10 on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display i can't open the Finder and it says it's not reacting. The bar on top when i'm at the Desktop is also gone.
Can somebody help me ?I had this exact same issue, and I was just able to fix it (at least for now). I'm not an expert by any means, so I can't tell you why my solution worked, but if you follow it and it helps, then great.
First, you'll have to restart your computer and open in Safe Mode. Restart the computer and as soon as you hear the startup noise, press and hold the Shift key. Release it when you see the Apple icon. It will take a little longer to start up.
Then download and install the free software called OnyX.
Once installed, open OnyX and click on the Verifying tab, then click on the Preferences tab. Run the Check button at the bottom. If it tells you that you have any damaged files, double click them on the list, one at a time, and then delete those files.
Then I clicked the Scripts tab, and Executed all three scripts.
Finally, under the Cleaning tab, I clicked on System and executed everything except "CUPS jobs".
I then restarted my computer like it suggested (without opening Safe Mode) and everything was back to normal!
Hope this helps.

Xclock Error: Can't open display: - after upgrading to openSSH 5.2p1
I have got two servers apssvrX and apssvrZ on OEL. Both were built by the same team using their standard build scripts.
Having received the servers I had installed Oracle (ODI) product on it successfully.
Then as a part of requirement and as per Oracle support's advise, I had upgraded the ssh version on apssvrX server from OpenSSH_4.3p2 To OpenSSH_5.2p1, so that, I can implement the chroot jailing.
As per Oracle advise, I had downloaded the 3 RPMs from "_http://layer1.rack911.com/openssh/rhel5/x86_64/" to run them on my first server i.e., apssvrX and then configured the sshd services following the below steps:
a) Modify /etc/ssh/sshd_config to comment the below line:
#Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server
b) Add below lines:
Subsystem sftp internal-sftp
Match Group sftponly
ChrootDirectory %h
X11Forwarding no
AllowTcpForwarding no
ForceCommand internal-sftp
Then lastly, Restart sshd services complete the configuration
# /etc/init.d/sshd restart
apssvrX server current details are as below:
apssvrX$ uname -a
Linux apssvrX 2.6.18-128.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 21 08:45:05 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
apssvrX$ ssh -V
OpenSSH_5.2p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 01 Jul 2008
My problems started from this point onwards. I want to install another Oracle product using OUI, but when I try to execute xclock using the Exceed HummingBird tool on apssvrX server then it fails with the error - (xclock) Error: Can't open display:
I tried the DISPLAY variable setup as well but to no use.
Whereas I can successfully execute the xclock on apssvrZ and OUI as well. Its config details are as below:
apssvrZ$ uname -a
Linux apssvrZ 2.6.18-128.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 21 08:45:05 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
apssvrZ$ ssh -V
OpenSSH_4.3p2, OpenSSL 0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 01 Jul 2008
Please advise the way forward.Tried but still same error.
Affected servers's sshd_config is as below:
[root@apssvrX]# cat /etc/ssh/sshd_config

Can't open iWeb after upgrading to iLife 11 (Domain.sites2.)
I just upgraded my iLife package from 09' to 11' just a few days ago. Since then I haven't been able to open up iWeb (09'). I realize that the iLife 11 upgrade shouldn't have harmed iWeb 09', but it's the only change/add that I have done to my machine in the past week. Every time I try to launch iWeb either from the dock or from the domain file itself, I receive the following iWeb error:
Can't open file "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/iWeb/Domain.sites2."
Has anyone seen this problem?MACTr@KkeR wrote:

Did you move the Domain.sites2 file to that location? ...It can be moved, but most peopIe leave it where it usually resides and would see an error msg saying:
"Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.”
You could try moving your Domain file to the above location and double-click it there. And remember to always backup all your Domain files before messing with them.
By the way, rather than posting a P.S. in your Public Profile:
"i've tried repairing permissions on the domain file with Batchmod as well."
...you can edit a post within 15 minutes of posting — just click on the pencil icon in the post or reply you want to edit. Then make your changes and click on the Edit Message button to post those changes. Each edit re-starts your 15 minute window for re-editing. Can't open iPhoto after upgrading computer
Hello!
I have an old iBook G4 that crashed a few weeks ago. I couldn't rebuild it so and got Mac OS X Leopard Version 10.5 and installed it. I transferred everything from my iMac (latest model) including photos. Then I got my old iLife '06 and installed iPhoto to the iBook (which was on there before it crashed). I did all the software updates and now have iPhoto 6.0.6 installed.
However, when I try to open iPhoto I get the following message:
"You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
I can see all my photos in finder under 'All Images'. When I click on a photo the path is
username - pictures - iPhoto Library - Originals - Year - Date - photo file name
However, when I go to finder and click username - Pictures and then iPhoto Library there is nothing there.
How do I get to open and import my photo library?
Thanks,
JuliaJulia
As the new iMac has a later version of iPhoto it sounds like the Library has been updated, and the old iPhoto 6 cannot open it.
Your choices are
1. Update iPhoto on the older machine
2. Rebuild the library for iPhoto 6. To do this try use iPhoto Library Manager.

Can't open file after upgrade to 10.8.1
I use Indesign CS5(Trad. Chinese version). When i upgrade to 10.8 is no problem, but when i upgrade to 10.8.1 last week, i can open any previous ID document! Even i create a new document , i close it , & also cant open!! Its shows a dialog box means the file crash before, selection is fix ,cancel or reopen, but any select also can fix & cant open !!!
Finally i downgrade to 10.8 from my Time Machine, everything gonna OK again!!!
Will Adobe fix this problem? or i cant upgrade to 10.8.2...10.8.3....etc any more!!Why don’t you ask Apple? It was their update that broke it.
And I would not count on any updates to CS5. It’s two version out of date.
FWIW, that 10.8.1 update helped a lot of people having problems with CS6.

Can't open library after upgrade to iPhoto '11
I have seen a few people have the same/similar problem but their solutions haven't helped me.
Bought new macbook pro two weeks ago. iPhoto didn't work when I had imported my old info onto my computer, but then after three wipes of the computer and a reinstall as the primary user I got it working. I downloaded aperture last night which meant I had to upgrade to iPhoto 11 (which may have been the problem in the first place- I don't know if I downlaoded it the first few times). This has again meant I cannot open iPhoto at all and it crashes before the window even comes up.

I've tried reinstalling it a couple of times, as well as downloading 9.1 etc. etc. but nothing so far has worked. Any solutions?Hi Terence,
followed some of theat iphone threads since I got the same problem. I tried everything you explained. Tried it under a different user (worked), deinstalled and reinstalled the application (didn´t work). I cleaned any related iphone file before I reinstalled ... nada! I also repaired the users rights on the application disk ... nothing helped.
So one final attempt to get help. Not even Apple Support could tell me what is wrong. Here is the last crash report:

Having updated firefox, it does not work. After an hour or so to try and open firefox, it says firefox has crashed and gives option to restart or quit.
Same with internet explorer and chrome - no response. After about an hour, excel finally opened but so slow to be able to do anything.
Also noticed a message bottom right corner of screen saying this version of windows is not authentic. I have windows 7 and it is legitimate and have not seen this message before.
I have read lots on the internet but nothing seems to match my problem if nothing working. I am unable to change settings or look at set up of any programmes because I cannot get in to them.....
Any ideas would be so gratefully relieved please!!
Thank you in advance,Start your '''Computer''' in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try '''Safe''' web sites.
Starting The Computer In Safe Mode;
If running, turn your computer off.
Remove any disks and thumb drives that are in your hard drives or ports.
Now start your computer but also;
'''Windows; '''Press the <F8> key repeatedly.
'''Mac: '''Hold down the Shift key.
'''Linux; '''Using the command line, Linux/Unix computers can be booted
into various run levels that determine which resources are loaded.
For example, "runlevel 1" is typically the equivalent to Windows and
Mac safe modes.

When the '''Boot''' menu is displayed, release the key you were pressing.
You must now choose what mode to use. The most used are;
* Safe Mode; The computer runs with only a minimum set of programs.
* Safe Mode '''With '''Networking; Same as above, but with internet access. -
Can't open Office after upgrading to a larger HDD.
I recently upgraded my HDD in my Mac to one twice the size. I used the Disk Recovery tool (command + R) to clone my old HDD with all of the software that was installed on it to my new HDD. Now that everything is copied over I tried to open Office for
Mac 2011 and it asks me for the product key.
I am not sure where my original software and product key code is. I have already reformatted the previous HDD and don't have any of the stored information on it.
Is there any way that I can recover or get a different product key that would allow Microsoft Office 2011 to work again for me? I did not know that upgrading to a larger HDD would cause me to lose the Office activation that I already have.
Thank you for your time.Suggest you post your question in the Office for Mac forum in order to get the quickest response from people familiar with your environment (this forum is for Window's based Outlook).

Can't open iPhoto after upgrading to 11
I have just bought a new Mac Mini and have loaded up the iPhoto supplied with all my photos. I have just intsalled iPhoto '11 and now I get a message as follows:
"In order to open iPhoto, you need to update to the latest version. Please run Software Update to imstall it now."
As I have just installed the latest version I am a bit concerned about my photos and using the software. I have checked and all the other iLife updates - iMovie, etc. are all working fine.
Can anyone help here?
Thanks
DavidWelcome to the Apple Discussions. If Ric's suggestion doesn't work try this: backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the User/Library/Application Support/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.

Can't open iPhoto after upgraded to mavericks
After I updated to 10.9, the fan of my Macbook Pro keep spinning at high speed.
Secondly, I cannot open iPhoto which said I need to update the iPhoto to the latest version.
However, the app store does not have the update when I clicked the update button…
Now , I cannot use iPhoto… even I re-install it from CD...it was the most up-to-date iphoto 11 before I up to 10.9..
It woundnt open
so I uninstalled it and re install it from iphoto 11 CD then it direct me to update to the latest version which does not exist in app store.. -
Can't open iTunes after upgrading
I just upgraded to the newest version of iTunes and now I am getting the following message "The "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."
I have tried dragging an older version of my library into the Itunes folder but still keep getting the same message. Now I cannot do anything with iTunes and this is extremely frustrating. Any ideas or suggestions on how to correct this?
Thanks in advance
RoyaHad the same problem.
If you have a Mac:
Hold down "alt" and click on your iTunes icon
Click "Choose Library"
Select "Previous Library" folder
Select your most recently dated library
iTunes should now open normally
If you have a PC:
Change the extension of your library file from ".itl" to ".old" and restart iTunes -
Can't Open PDF After Upgrading to IE9
I'm creating this to hopefully help others that are having this issue. I typically issue Firefox, but had a website that only worked with IE. When I recently upgraded to IE9, I and no longer could open PDF's from that site. This feature was working fine on IE8, but on IE9 I kept getting "This file could not be downloaded". It was actually a secure website using https that this occurred on. I searched for a solution and finally found it on the Microsoft Answers website, but thought it would help to post it here as well.
From your IE9 browser, Tools->Internet Options->Advanced. Scroll down to the security section and remove the check from the 'Do not save encrypted pages to disk'. This solved the issue for me and hopefully it will for you.Worked for me too. My Credit Card compan
