Can't open my itunes

Whenever i click on the itunes desktop icon it comes up with "The itunes application could not be opened, an unknown error occurred(-50). it doesn't even open when i plug my iphone in. please help

ive had a similar problem, i have itunes 10 but I havent been able to open it for the past two weeks... i dont understand why - nothing on my comp has changed lately....the thing is too that I know a recent itunes update came out in the last few weeks and i never got around to updating so i cant say that its a bug with the newer version
when i try to open it i get the message:
"Itunes has stopped working: windows is checking for a solution to the problem"....
"A problem caused the program to stop working, Microsoft will notify you if a solution is found"
I have tried to repair itunes (through control panel), and have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes again, all to no avail.
It was working three or so weeks ago when I updated my iphone to the new operating system version - but not since then.
Please help anyone out there! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
To give you some more background - For the last few months itunes has always run very sluggishly and my computer is super quick normally. In the past, after I had used itunes, it would leave things so slow that I had no choice but to restart my computer.

I'm using a Windows XP (32 Bit). I can't open my "iTunes Store" page. I have to struggle just to open the iTunes icon. When I do, it opens directly to my music library. When I try to click to the iTunes Store, it opens to a blank page with the words "iTunes Store" embossed in gray in the middle of the page. That's it! NO GRAPHICS! I even tired the "Diagnostics" test. It shows that there is a disconnect with the internet and the iTunes Store. When I clicked the "Help" button next to it, it opened to a totally blank page. Nothing. I'm trying to sync an iPad 2 to iTunes on that computer. It shows on the computer that the apps have been synced, but they are not present on the iPad. Just as a note: the apps and info in the account has been loaded on the computer via 3Gs and then a 4S phone. Thank you for any and all help in this matter.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

You might have two different things going on at once here.
Starting with the registry settings message.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

What are your OS X and iTunes version ?
Try to delete iTunes Preferences :
Go to your-user-name/Library/Preferences
Delete all files with iTunes in their name
Launch iTunes
If that doesn't work, the best way is to reinstall iTunes :

Your files (music, apps, videos...,) won't be deleted.

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):

Default location of iTunes library

\Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Vista
\Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows 7

Hi there, could someone help me here please - I can't open the iTune store after I updated my iphone 4 to iOS 7. The problem occurred about 5 days later after the upgrade. There are no error messages. As I tap on the icon it opens just for a fraction of a moment and then goes off and back to the main screen. Other apps are working just fine. I tried following the troubleshooting steps as suggested by apple support, but that didn't help unfortunately...
