Can't open pdf files that are forwarded from a iphone

Our clients are sending in emails which a few of our users are viewing them on their iPhone. When they forward the message to other users the pdf files won't open. It gives an error message, "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired". I've tried saving the pdf to the desktop then try to open it with no success and the same error message.I've also checked to make sure the Add-in is enabled.
We are on Acrobat X 32 bit Standard 10.1.10 and Windows 7 x64 Pro/Ult. Outlook is 32 bit version. Any ideas what the problem is?

SAFARI 6.1.3 update to Reader 11.0.07 … cannot open pdf files that are presently on my computer. Previous version had no problem. Any ideas? (Here is the message: Adobe Reader could not open 'Digital_Holiday_Cookbook.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

  • Can't open PDF files that have been downloaded

I have downloaded a few PDF files from a variety of websites, but I am unable to get them opened so that I can print them.

  • Opening PDF files that are posted on our website

I create a monthly newsletter using inDesign 5.0.   Since I switched to inDesign, I've had mixed results from users opening the files.  There is nothing that I can pinpoint as the problem.  For some users, the file will open right away in the browser in IE.  For others (myself included), it will not open in the browser, but will open if I deselect the option to open Adobe files in the browser.  It opens in adobe reader.  For some people, it will open fine using Firefox or Chrome.  For others it doesnt open at all, but generates an error.  Yesterday, it did not open for one user who has Reader XI.  I downloaded the file and into Adobe X Pro and resaved it and it now works for him, but freezes for others.  The most common symptom is that it doesn't completely download.
My users who are opening this file are not sophisticated at all.  Many of them have trouble simply operating a computer.  If I tell them they need to install another browser or change Adobe reader settings I'm going to have a major outcry.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this random issue and what I can do to resolve it?  I patched inDesign yesterday to the most recent version and if I have to go to CC, I will, but I really need the majority of my readers to be able to open this document without a problem.
Once I create the document, I Export to Adobe (print).  I'm wondering if it has to do with compatibility, because the default compatibility is set to Adobe 6.  But without some consistent test results, I'm hard pressed to figure it out.
The document is at www.squarethru.com and it's the Dec 2013 newsletter (top left nav pane).  Any help I can get would be greated appreciately.
    Thanks,
    Susan

    Hello Susan,
You cannot control how a PDF opens from the web. If at all possible, I would recommend using a for web PDF creation. All this does is make the download smaller at a sacrifice of image quality. It should not affect text at all. You can also just play with the downsample values to find a reasonable trade-off between file size and image quality.
But this issue isn't related to ID. It has to do with how individual users have their browsers set up, whether they have updated browser plug-ins, etc.
Because I have my browsers set to open a PDF in a new tab, that's what it does on your newsletter PDF.

  • I'm having problems using Firefox when opening up PDF files that are called from jsp.

I'm trying to open my billing statement in pdf format. When I click on the link, Firefox 4 takes me to the dowload page and starts to download a readPDF.jsp file. How come Firefox is asking for that? When I use IE 7 I get no problems. Please advise on how to get Firefox to open jsp files automatically.

    I have same problem too

  • Updated my server to OS X Mountain Lion - and now I can't open pdf files, that my users share on wiki.

    Hi!
I've updated my mac mini lion server to mountain lion server. I have an exentsive use of wiki in my education environment. Everything looks great, except, when uploading an PDF file to the wiki document folder I can no longer download the file - I can preview the file on the wiki page, but I can no longer download the file to my iPad / iBook.
Come on Apple - you did not remove that feature!!!!
Oh - the same problem comes to pages documents etc.
What to do - my students starts monday - do I need to role-back my server?
    Kind regards,
    Martin Rise Christensen

The problem is not in the Wiki itself but in the frontend version that gets displayed when you browse it from an ipad.
The webpage looks different on the ipad because of that. If you use another browser on the ipad and you get the "default" frontend you can upload just fine.
You can also disable this ipad version alltogether but you have to go in modify the code to do it. This will display the "default" frontend for every device.

  • When I open notepad files that are attachments from a webpage, is there anyway to have them open immediately every time rather than ask if I want to open/save and then having to click OK?

I have checked the "do this automatically" box and it makes no difference.

    Try here:
    Tools > Options > Applications
Enter JPEG into the search box and change any that say "Save file" to "Always ask".
    Does it work?
Edit: Forgot one other relevant setting. On:
    Tools > Options >General tab
pick "Always ask me where to save files"
    All good now?

  • I cannot ope PDF files that are within a web link.  Neither Safari nor Firefox will work.  If I receive a PDF file as an email attachment, I can open it with either Adobe or Preview.  I'm running 10.6.8 on an iMac.

I'm going to re-state this.  Several weeks ago, I had installed Security Update 2012-004 on my iMac.  I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Immediately afterwards, my Mail 4.6 was GONE.  Mail 4.2 was there, but the system would not open it.  The Apple Support Communites quickly solved my problem.  The problem lay within the Update.  Now, I cannot open PDF files that are contained within a website, i.e. a lunch menu that is on a restaurant website.  This happens on both Safari and Firefox.  If someone sends me an email with an attached PDF file, I can open the file with either Adobe or Preview.  This is happening only on my iMac.  My MacBook Pro, also running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 has not experienced either the first or second problem.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Why can't I open/see PDF files that are embedded in an email or sent through the internet?

I can read/see PDF files that are attached to an email, but I can't see/read them if they are embedded in an email or sent through the internet.

I have a similar problem. I can open, read, and save PDF files, but I can't view my online bank statement on my Mac. The statement opens automatically if I use a PC, but on my Mac the page says I need Adobe Reader to view my statement. I already have the latest version of Adobe Reader. The problem seems to be that that the plugin only goes to the Libray. It doesn't get installed into Safari or into FireFox either.

Hi.  I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader,  It worked yesterday.  Today I have job training to do that is due tomorrow morning and I can't open PDF files.  I have to open a guide and read it and take a test tomorrow.  I have deleted and reinstalled the application.  I have rebooted.  I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program.  Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message.  It simply says Attempt to access invalid address.  How can I fix this?  Thanks.

    Hi Don,
I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.
