Can't Open ports in Express

Hi,
Here's my setup:
Cable router connected by ethernet to Airport Extreme (not the new model)
Airport extreme broadcasts to an Airport Express which relays the signal to my computer.
I need to open up my ports for Transmission to use so I can get my upload ratio up. I always remain in stealth mode whenever I connect.
I've gone into my system prefs and allowed transmission to use ports in 10.5 (different setup in leopard now)
I've also opened up the ports needed for the Extreme, but when I get to the Express there doesn't seem to be any options for opening ports, so I remain in stealth mode with terrible upload speeds.
All help is greatly appreciated.

The reason you don't see any options for opening ports on your Airport Express is because it isn't relevant to its current mode of operation. Your Airport Express has been configured as a remote base station - as you said, it relays signals from your base station to your computer. In that mode, the Airport Express's built in router is completely disabled - and since it is completely disabled, there is no need to be forwarding ports.
You mentioned you have a "cable router". If this "cable router" indeed has a built in router, then your efforts need to be directed to either turning off its router (to work in so-called "bridge mode") or setting up port forwarding on that device.

  • How can I open ports on my AirPort Extreme, from WINDOWS?

I have an Airport Extreme as my router, and I have a Windows-based computer. I need to open ports on the router (ironically, it is for my Apple TV).
However, even though I can use the Airport Utility for Windows (latest version 5.5.3), I cannot open ports from the application.
Everywhere I look, I am supposed to have a firewall tab in the Advanced section, but I do not have it. The only tabs that I have in Advanced are:
    Logging and Statistics
    MobileMe
    IPv6
How can I open ports on my Airport Extreme router from Windows?

Is your AirPort Extreme the only router in your network configuration?

  • Can't open port 80

I just can't open port 80 on my AEBS n 1st G. I want to use this port to enable access from the internet to my Mini server's wiki pages.
I've added port 80 in the "Port Mapping" tab of Airport utility under "personal web sharing", but when I check the port with the network utility, it remains closed.
What am I doing wrong. Please help.
This is the data of the mapping tab in Airport utility:
    Public TCP port: 80
    private IP address:10.0.1.201
    Private TCP port: 80
    rest empty.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I was out of town.
I did the setup as you showed it, tested it and it still doesn't work.
I also contacted my ISP with some questions about the port 80 being open or not. Their answer is that port 80 is always open as that's the port used to access the internet (made me feel like my question was reeeaaaally stupid...). I explained I had found some info on the internet that said the Zyxel modems very often come with the port 80 closed, and that nearly made them laugh... :-(
So I once again did a scan of my public port and get this:
    Port Scanning host: 200.124.48.xxx
    Open TCP Port: 21     ftp
    Open TCP Port: 53     domain
    Open TCP Port: 554    rtsp
    Open TCP Port: 3900   udt_os
    Open TCP Port: 5009   winfs
    No port 80 in view.
I also did a traceroute of the Dyndn'ssed domain I want to access on my server and get this:

  • Since connecting my new Cinema display, I can't open Final Cut Express because I don says Quartz extreme, Since connecting my new Cinema display, I can't open Final Cut Express because I don says Quartz extreme

Since connecting my new Cinema display to my new Mac Pro, I can't open Final Cut Express.  I get the message that I need Quartz Extreme to use it.  How come it isn't in my brand new computer or monitor??  I could use FCE fine with an old monitor.  HELP!

I finally called Apple support on Monday (couldn't on Sunday - it surprised me that they don't have 24/7 phone support).  Tech had no idea, so put me onto a 'supertech' (in America?).  He instructed me to reset the whole computer - turn it off, unplug it and then hold down 4 keys while it rebooted.  That worked.  I can now open Final Cut Express and iMovie.  There's no reference to 'Quartz Extreme' in my 'About This Mac' display info, but I don't care, everything works now, hooray!  (Now if I can only get my Mac mouse to work properly...)

If you export the project from FCE you can import the QuickTime into FCP. You can do limited work to it like adding titles.

  • How can I open port 80

I am using a 2wire modem/router. I was told by a tech at ATT that I can only click a button that allows ALL ports open, but not just port 80.
Does anyone know if there is a way to open port 80 ONLY? I'm next to done setting up a security CCTV system for my home, and this would allow me to use my computer to look at whats going on, rather than buying a new monitor.
    Thanks for helping.

Thanks for the reply. You and X423424X are close. From the beginning. I bought a 4 camera DVR security surveillance system. Yesterday, we installed it. I was told by the place from which I bought it ( and subsequently from the manufacturer's tech guy)  that if I wanted to use my computer for a monitor for the security setup, that in the Router Firewall Settings I would have to identify the device, and then 'direct' the device "through" port 80 to be able to view the 'goings on outside' (the input from the cameras) from my computer monitor. Inclusive with this configuration via the iMac, is that the DVR is recording all the time, and I could download any portion of the recorded material from the DVR to the iMac and burn it to a disk, for example to give to the cops if there was a theft. AND, it was also mentioned that in order to remote view whats going on around the place from say, a laptop or pc when I'm out of town can also be done, but that would require opening another port, with 4 digits, like 3806, or similar. I will eventually get the port number for this operation later. So that is what I'm trying to do.
So far, the 'local tech' from the security store seems to have limited knowledge of the Mac, and of the 2Wire router/modem. So HE was on the phone with first the tech support from the security cam/DVR dealers, and then with an ATT tech. The ATT tech was the one that said, in the firewall settings on the modem, there is a button that opens ALL ports, and that was the only way to allow port 80 to be used for the DVR/security setup.
I think that he is incorrect. I think that there is a way to view the camera images on my Mac monitor, and that there is a way to configure the settings on the router to allow the camera images to  be seen on the computer screen, and that I could also download to the HD on the iMac any 3 or 4 minute portion of what is recorded on the DVR, in order to burn a copy. I have a co-worker that had a car taken, and her neighbor was there in an instant telling her thatt he had the whole thing on his video surveillance, and had a disc burnt in about 5 minutes, which went to the police. Her car was found, and the perp arrested within 2 hours.
THATS what I want to end up with (no, not a stolen car, but the configuration), and I'm hoping that I can find the way to get 'er done here. There is only one good Apple/OS X tech in this town, and he is on vacation for another week. AND, I'm not sure he is a 2wire expert.
So, again, thank you for any help or input.

  • Can't open ports on BT home hub 2

Hello I can't open these ports on my BT home hub 2
    27000-27015 as UDP
    27016-27030 as UDP
    27014-27050 as TCP
    4380-4380 as UDP

    Please see this guide.
    Port forwarding problems
If you are trying to forward them all to the same device, then you have overlapping ports and it will not work.
    You are trying
    27000-27015 as UDP
    27016-27030 as UDP
    27014-27050 as TCP
    4380-4380 as UDP
    Try instead
    27000-27050 UDP
    27000-27050 TCP
    4380-4380 UDP
That includes the full range. It does not matter if you forward both TCP and UDP.

  • RV220W - Can't open port 20 and 549

    Hi there,
I have a static IP address over 100Mbit fiber. I've installed a Mac Mini as a webserver and opened the ports 80, 443 and 5900 and a few others for minor services. Everything works fine: the http server (and https as well) is up and pepole can reach it from wan.
Yesterday I tried to setup the FTP service with less success. Into the ACCESS RULES I enabled the FTP service and, as a result the port 21 opened up.
But if I connect via Cyberduck to the server I can navigate through the folders but I can't download anything. So I tryed to open up the port 20 for data transfer with no result. Same issue when I tryed to setup the AFP service to mount remotely server volumes: port 548 opened up but no success with port 549.
Here are the screenshots of the router pages and the port test results.
    It's really weird.
I'm not an IT, so... Am I doing something clamorously wrong or I'm missing something huge?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Piero.

    Hi Bro
Based from your screen capture, is this even a Cisco product? If yes, can you paste your latest show runnning-config here for me to assit you?
Problem Description : Unable to access server in private LAN from Internet with FTP, TCP/548 and TCP/549.

  • Can i open an SQL express 2005 database in SQL server express 2012?

    Hi,
i have a database and it's in SQL express 2005 but because my windows 8 is not compatible with the installer, i have to install the latest 2012 installer. my problem now is that i cannot open it in the 2012 edition..what do i have to do?

    Hi white_roses,
Could you let us know how do you restore the database to SQL Server 2012 Express edition? Please help to collect the detail error information of this issue, it will benefit for us to do further investigation.
As Sandesh and ED suggested above, we can directly detach our databases from SQL Server 2005 and then attach them to SQL Server 2012. For detail steps, please refer to the following article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187858.aspx
After we move a database from the instance of SQL Server on server A to the instance of SQL Server on server B, users may be unable to log in to the database on server B. If need the logins information on Server B, please refer to the following article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,
    Jerry Li

  • Can't Open ports

I have been having a major issie forwarding ports to my 10.6.8 server.   For two years worked great   then zap  issues all over the place mostly with thos ei meed for getting the server to be remotely controls, with ssh and with HTTP
OK thought being router died..  I had been using DLINK 655  but about the same time all three start being a bain
I switched to asus RT-AC66u  . wen through configuration and same situation
I connect to my ISP with a Starbridge 317 ADSL: modem..  It is set in bridge mode    My ISP assures me no configuratioj required.
Ok to take the router out of the Equation  hook the serve straight to the modem and connect PPoE    if anything situation gets worse  I have nothing showing open except port 548
    The firewall service is OFF
    any thoughts or suggestions?

If you have connected your server directly to the DSL modem on your public static IP address and TCP port 548 is visible from remote sites but no other ports are open though Server Admin.app shows various other services are active, then you've either got a very selective problem with the DSL router or any upstream port filtering at your ISP, or your server is misbehaving.  You can confirm your ISP is not filtering by swapping in a different server with some of the same ports open as your primary server, and re-verify the test.
Also run a port scan of your server on the local network using your LAN-local network addresses (with the server's original local address, and not via the DSL modem) and see if there are ports open; Network Utility can run a simple port scan, as can some command-line tools.  Swapping IP addresses can sometimes get various services tangled, so make sure you're testing with and using the original (presumably with NAT, presumably in a private address block) IP address for the server.
If the services are reported as active via Server Admin.app but Network Utility or another port scanner does not show the expected ports are open, then check the server log files via Console.app or similar, and see what's happened with the various services.  if the various server processes are tipping over, then they'll usually be pretty chatty in the logs.

  • Can't open ports on TMG 2010

The main issue is that the external Lync clients can't connect to the Lync server. The reason this happens is blocked ports on TMG.<o:p></o:p>
There is Non-web server publishing rules setup allowing inbound connection from  public ip to Lyncedge server's external ip using tcp ports: 443, 444, 445, 5061, 50000-59999 (inbound).<o:p></o:p>
All the rules use to work fine and the external Lync clients were connecting fine, but now when i test the ports on the public ip, using
web tools (like checkmyports.net) I am getting "Port is Closed" for all of them.
What is not allowing the ports to be open?<o:p></o:p>
Nothing has been changed on the TMG server. The other rules (Activesync and OWA access) on the TMG work with no problem.<o:p></o:p>
Any help would be greatly appreciated!<o:p></o:p>

    Hi,
Thank your for your post here.
Please double check your configuration via the article below:

Please also check the TMG live logging.
