Can't open Premiere Pro 6.0 file in PP CS6

I have a Premiere project I created ages  ago in Premiere Pro v 6, and I'm trying to open it in PP CS6. I've tried opening it through Windows Explorer (both double clicking, and right-click > Open with PP). I've also tried using the Open dialog in PP, but PP doesn't even see it. I'd really like to be able to edit it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you mean Premiere v6? Then you may need to first convert to Premiere Pro 1.5, then to CS3 and then to CS6

  • File menu can't open Premiere Pro 2014

I have a Premiere Pro 2014 on a Windows 8.1 Pro, both are all up to date.
When I try to access the file menu, the program crashes and you have to do a power cycle to get it up and running again.
If force the program to be run in Windows 7 mode it will work without crashing when opening the file menu, but it will take 4 times as long to open.
However if you run the program as administrator it will work just fine in Windows 8 mode, but not as the local user and not as a logged in administrator, you have to "Run As" administrator to make it work.
Does anyone have any idear what the issue could be.

    Hi appman,
Premiere pro runs fine on an admin account and not as a standard user. It requires proper permissions that are available being an admin on the computer and hence on a standard user you can run into these kind of problems,
    Thank You

  • Can't open Premiere Pro after set-up

After a successful download of Premiere Pro CS5.5, I clicked on the Set-up app under the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 Functional Content folder, followed the instructions, finished the set-up with no problems. Now I can't figure out how to run the program. I have a feeling the answer may be fairly obvious, warranting a facepalm after all is said and done, but my one month old son has kept me sleep deprived and rendered me a terrrible problem solver lately.
I have restarted the computer, but I only see the same folder on my desktop named "Premiere Pro Family Content Installers," with all of the same folders and files that were available before I clicked Set-up. Could it be saved to a different drive that I haven't found yet? I checked on my C: drive in program files, but I only find the Presets folder, with Styles, Templates and Textures files available. I just want to run the program itself. Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Graham

KristinMD can you please check the installation logs for Premiere Pro CC to see if there were any errors during the installation process?  Please see Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html for information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files.

  • Can't open premiere pro cc after download

    Hi
Before my trial version of premiere pro ended, I've paid for an account for one year. But when I open the application, it starts the (now expired) trial version and asks for a serial number which I did't receive.
I tried a new download of premiere pro cc in Dutch instead of English, but in my applications folder (mac os 10.9.2) there's premiere pro cc starting the expired trial version again.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can't open Premiere Pro 6

I recently bought Premiere Pro 6. I used it for a few days and all was well. However recently when ever I try to open it, it won't open. It starts to load but it never opens. If you have any solution to this problem that'd be great, thanks.

  • I can't open up a specific .psd file in Photoshop cs6.

Well, there's a specific file I can't open. I've worked on it previously, but a week later, and it won't open. All of my other PS CS6 files are intact, and will open immediately. However, this one file takes so long to load (2+ hours) that I end up restarting my computer in order to work on all of my other things. The size isn't the issue, either; it's only 70 megabytes, as opposed to some of my more heavy-duty files that run upwards 200 megabytes.
I'm thinking about opening it on another computer to see what happens, but I'm concerned about the fact that I can't open this particular file. I'm not sure if it's corrupted, based on the fact that it just sits on my computer and just tells me that it's loading.
Is there something I can do to make it open, or modify the file? I've already tried defragging my computer and other things, and I'm at a loss here. I really don't want to start working on this from scratch, so I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Unfortunately, few have ever had much luck rescuing information from corrupted PSD files.
    Do you have a backup?

  • How can you open a PSDX Photoshop Touch file in PS cs6?

I've looked at some video and they talk about downloading a plugin for CS5x and that one isn't needed for PS CS6 w/ the ACC. I can see the psdx file but PS will not open it saying it is the wrong file type. Do I first need to export the file from PSTouch as a JPG? Can someone direct me to a specific Help Resource URL please. Thanks.

Sometimes Adobe Help and Adobe TV is not up to date or at least not very clear to me. So here is the simple answer after playing and experimenting with PST. I am unable to save or export any image OUT of PST except as a PSDX file and PS CS6 will not open a PSDX file without a plugin. Following the instructions on AdobeTV and/or the help files in PST tells you to download a plugin AFTER signing in to the Cloud, but there is no download link as per the example. SO..... to get a PSDX file to open in PS CS6 do the following.
    1) Open the Adobe Application Manager
    2) Select the Touch Apps Plugins
    3) Allow it to download and install
    4) When complete open PS FROM the Windows START menu. You will think something is wrong because it will be minutes before it opens. Everything is ok it just takes a while for the plugin to register with PS CS6 the first time.
    5) You can now open PSDX files in PS CS6.
As for the usefulness of PST..eh I guess it's ok. Like most things related to Adobe Cloud Apps and Services it needs help. The one advantage I can see is that I do not need a seperate app to open a NEF file other than that..eh, I've seen better apps. With that said let's not forget that Adobe IS trying and will get better with time and money. Look at it this way, when PST first came out it only supported iPad then it was worked on to support Android 8.9" tablets now it works on 7" Androids. Eventually, it will be a lite version of PS where you can work on the file both in PS and on the go without having to save your layers as individual files and some other features and functions it currently lacks.
Stay with it Adobe eventually you'll have a superior product worth the $10 if not more. You can do it guys, I have confidence in you. You've come a long way since May, tech wise, it's just your marketing people that drive hype too much so that us loyal users have too high of an expectation.

  • Can't open Premiere Pro after installing from CC

Says there is an error and the program has stopped working... even before it starts working. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same problem. Restarted computer after install, same problem.
    Any ideas?

If you have a Mac with AMD graphics hardware, it may be a problem caused by the CUDA framework, which AMD hardware does not need. I just fixed a problem with PPro CC not launching on my iMac (with AMD Radeon graphics) because of this.
If you don't have an NVIDIA graphics card, go to your main HD, then Library>Frameworks, and delete "CUDA.framework". Reboot and try launching PPro again.
If you do have an NVIDIA graphics card... the problem is elsewhere, sorry
BTW I have no idea if the same CUDA problem applies to Windows machines with non-NVIDIA graphics hardware.

  • Can't Open Premiere Pro from Creative Cloud

All threads and everything say to just click it on the apps menu after it was "installed" but it doesn't do anything. Trying to download from the site just brings me back to creative cloud. Help please!!

Are you trying it out or paid subscription?
If paid, the first thing you need to do with the Creative Cloud desktop app is sign in ... the little wheel/gear thingie in the upper right ..."Preferences" ... Account tab. Then go back to the main control panel and it should show, when you click on the "Apps" tab, a list of Adobe programs with the names on the left, "Install" button on the right. That's how you'd install ...

  • I can't open Sony NEX-5 raw files with PS-CS6 and latest raw converter plug-in 7.1.

When I try to open raw files from Sony NEX-5 instead of going to PhotoShop like all my NEF files, they go to another software suite that I have (On-One).  I am running MAC OS 10.7.5 with latest PS-CS6 and latest raw converter plug-in 7.1.  On-One seems to hi-jack these Sony raw files and won't give me the opportunity for the adjustments that I get with the Adobe Raw File converter.  Any help??

    Great news!

  • Can't open premiere file

I tried opening a Premiere Project on after Effects CC and it gives me an error.

The error is the foolowing: AEGP plug-in Premiere Pro Import: Can't load Premiere Pro Project, the version # is wrong or the file is corrupt. (5027::12)
But I can use the file in Premiere without any problems. It doesn't seem corrupt.

  • I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function works

I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function, render workspace function, export file are still operational. How can I fix it so I may complete my assignment?
Besides DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is the only software on the machine. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System on AMD FX 6100 six-Core Processor at 3.31gHz and 32 GB RAM memory. There are two SLI-bridged GTX680 NVidia cards.
The software was very stable for the last six months, working with 720P proxy files from 2.5K masters (Blackmagic Design Camera). I am working on a feature-length project that exceeds 1000 edits. I have broken the file into 2 one hour segments.
I have deactivated the software before reinstalling the entire OS from scratch. PP6 was very stable for 48 hours. Then the freezing space bar returns. After a dozen strokes into the project, same problem.  I have made cache files store next to originals, I have deleted preview files if they were corrupted and causing instability. Am I missing something?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials for virus protection. I double checked the memory for damage/defect. Nothing says that the motherboard or other components are damaged.
I am in film competition overseas and need to have deliverables in less than a month's time.  I lost the last two weeks troubleshooting and this crisis came at an inopportune moment of the project.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Still getting software freezes but found a way to mitigate for the mean time.
Upon launching Adobe Premiere Pro, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to launch TaskManager as well.
You will want to highlight Adobe QT32 Server.exe
Right click and select "End Process Tree"
You will get considerable stability in the program, long enough to get timing of cuts done. Be sure to save often.
If the program freezes, do not hit Save. You definitely want to avoid saving the corruption into your TimeLine
CTRL-ALT-DEL to relaunch the TaskManager and highlight Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
    Right-click to "End Process"
No need to reboot the whole system; just launch Premiere Pro again and continue with the session. Note that your work reverted to Last Save.
Hope this helps until the bug is fixed.
