Can't open profile manager for mac with terminal command

i have tried to open profile manager version 0.3.0 11/4/11 3:31 PM
with every command that an extensive search has revealed. each attempt yields a "no such file or directory response"; e.g.,Last login: Tue Nov 29 00:26:23 on ttys000
Welcome to Darwin!
r-c-wolins-computer:~ rcwolin$ /Functions/firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -profilemanager
-bash: /Functions/firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox: No such file or directory
r-c-wolins-computer:~ rcwolin$. i'm using a macbook 3,1 with os 10.6.8 and ff 4.0.1. what am i doing wrong and how can i rectify it?
thanks for your help. this is making me crazy.

yes i did. it is in the applications folder. however, the default path when i open a shell won’t get me there and i don’t know how to change it. it should be /don’t forget to smash the state [my computer’s name]/macintosh hd/applications/browsers/firefox.app [or something to that effect].
also, when i drag profilemanager .app into terminal shell i get
r-c-wolins-computer:~ rcwolin$ /Applications/ProfileManager.app
-bash: /Applications/ProfileManager.app: is a directory
does this mean that profilemanager.app is a directory? if it is, how do i access it?
further, if /Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -profilemanager is supposed to be where the command indicates, it isn’t. how do i get it there?
thanks for your help. you bailed me out before when i was perplexed about .sqlite files. i appreciate it.

  • Firefox won't open, error msg = can't find profile; deleted all app.data to rid new Win 7 Total Security virus - tried both v 4.0 & v 3.6 (now no error msg either). Can't open profile manager, can't open safe mode. pls help

My mother's computer was infected with the new "Win 7 Total Security" virus (apparently a fake antivirus program) - corrupted real av. To remove, we followed online advice to delete everything in AppData, for all programs, plus some other stuff. We moved it all to a flashdrive for safety, but after successfully removing virus, likewise cleaned & reformatted flashdrive. This apparently deleted Firefox profile(s), and after uninstalling & reinstalling, Firefox still won't open - I can't create a new profile. With v 4.0, I get an error message about not being able to find the profile. Found advice on how to open profile manager, but it won't open. Found reference to version 4 dispensing with profile manager, so tried installing version 3.6 again; still won't open, still can't open profile manager, but now no error message at all.

THANX for the reply cor-el. I've never had a problem using just "firefox -p", but i did use the full path like you advised after i read the profile manager article here before i posted my question. Unfortunately it didn't work. I've backed up all 3 profiles from the "%appdata% profile" file, and also from my remaining main profile that i'm on right now. I decided i'm going to uninstall ff3.6.28 & upgrade to "firefox 11" this weekend and hopefully create the other 2 profiles along with my main one. I do like in the newer versions of FF the tabs on top like googles chrome because it gives you more room on the page. I also like some other features too, but the main reason i kept my old version both times is because the newer versions didn't seem to load pages any faster than version 3.6.28. I'm not going to worry about some themes/personas not being compatible with ff11. I'll find some new ones. I think when i tried "ff9" awhile back along with my current version, i just deleted the shortcut that the article said to create on the desktop and still had all 3 profiles & no problems like i have now. In case your curious, the article on how to create more than one version of firefox at the same time was on the site "Dottech.org>[How To] Tip: Install multiple versions of Firefox to test before upgrading to latest release". It works but i obviously did something different this time that caused this problem. THANX again for your time/help, i do appreciate it.

  • I am trying to create a new profile, but I cannot open profile manager in Mac OS 10.5.8. I get the following error: "dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 Trace/BPT trap".

    Hello,
I am trying to repair my Firefox profile, but I cannot open profile manager in Mac OS 10.5.8. When I follow the directions for opening profile manager in my Terminal utility, I get the following error: "dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 Trace/BPT trap".
At this point, Firefox (v 5.0 or previous versions), is not running.
    Thanks.

[http://asqueella.blogspot.com/2010/12/dyld-unknown-required-load-command.html Here's an Explanation]. Basically you need to add "arch -i386 " at the beginning of the command because 10.5 is 32-bit only and more recent versions of Firefox default to 64-bit.

  • I Can't Open [Profile Manager] In FireFox

    Hello ....
I Have Firefox 31.0 , The Last one
    I Can't Open [Profile Manager]
    When I Make those paths
    "firefox -ProfileManager"
    firefox.exe -p
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p'
Now The problem when i write one of the paths , It opens Firefox [Browser]
I need to open The Profile Manager and make new user and use both of them in the same time
    Thanks .....

Otherwise a new browser window will just open instead.
Though if entered correctly the -no-remote switch along with -P should open the ProfileManager so you can run a second instance with another Profile. Basically you cannot run more than one instance on same Profile.

  • I cannot launch Firefox (suddenly) nor can I open Profile Manager, what next?

Windows 7, 64 bit. Experienced some Windows updates but I restored to prior to the updates and still cannot open Firefox. Can open Safari and IE.

There is a problem fairly soon in the process if profile manager will not start.
You could try in Firefox's [[safe-mode]] next you could try in Windows safemode by using the F8 key.
From what you say I am wondering if you have done a Windows restore of some form and recreated Firefox that way. Firefox does not always restore properly from Windows. You may be looking at re-installing Firefox.
If you consider re-installing do NOT take any options from Windows or Firefox that offers to delete personal settings because that will destroy things like passwords and bookmarks.

  • Can I run Microsoft Office for Mac with OS Lion?

Does upgrading to Lion mean I lose my ability to use Microsoft Office for Mac?

Hello. When you say after the upgrade, what specifically are you relating to? Do you mean going from Leopard to Lion and still being able to use the MS 2008 version?

  • Where can I find mechanical keyboard for mac with nordic layout?

I could find mechanical keyboards for mac, just not in nordic layout.

On nordic layout keyboards, we have these letters: Æ Ø Å on the right side of the keyboard
Additional physical keys are not needed, and no keyboard is likely to provide them. Instead, a keyboard translation table (software already included in your Mac) is used to change the function of the keys to the right of and below the P key.
In the three Norweigian keyboard translations, those key translations [ Æ Ø Å ]are provided. One of the Swedish translations provides them as well. The only thing missing is the graphic on the standard key-cap. Use a sticker or a sharpie marker to write the graphic on the key.

  • Just installed.  Now can't open many  Word for Mac files.  How fix?

I just installed Snow Leopard. Now I find I have many Word documents in file folders that I can double click on, but they won't open. Even when I try other ways to open, they won't. I have a big need for a quick fix. Any suggestions?
    Thanks! Duncan

    Hi Barry,
I have Office 2004 Version 11.5.5. I can open some files, but others not. When I double click on them, they flash like they are about to open, but then they just sit there. I offloaded some of these non-opening files with my thumbdrive and put them on my wife's iMac. (She hasn't installed Snow Leopard yet.) They open just fine there. So the files are okay. The only difference seems to be the operating systems. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Where can I purchase Photoshop CS4 for Mac with a serial number

Looking to upgrade to CS4 on my mac, where can I purchase a copy with a serial number

    csuebele wrote:
If you're upgrading, why would you want to just get CS4 and not CS6 - or CC?
Chuck, you might be surprised when I tell you that, if it weren't for the advances in ACR since version 7.4, I would be doing all of my work in CS4, and that I know others who feel the same way.
I still have versions 7.x through CS6 13.0.6 installed on my Macs.  I resort to CS4 very, very often. (Grain Surgery plug-ins that Adobe bought and killed, etc.)
There are many folks who use Photoshop as our digital darkroom exclusively who feel more recent versions are just plain bloated.
In many ways, even Ps 7.0.1 is plenty, if not for ACR.

Select your My Book Studio for Mac icon on your Desktop and type Command + i to bring up its Info pane.  Check the formatting.  It should look like this:
If it's not formatted as such you'll need to reformat it after backing up what's on there now.

  • How can I re-install the OS with Deskstop Manager for Mac

I just downloaded the Deskstop manager for Mac, tried to upgrade by BB software and it gave me the JVM Error 513. Luckily I backed up all info cause I know that means the whole thing is erased. How do I on a Mac re-install the software? When I connect it to the computer it does not recognize it?

Hmm.. that is kind of weird.
I did a quick search and came up with this:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB13003&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
You should be able to restore software onto your BlackBerry by disconnecting and then reconnecting it. BlackBerry Desktop Manager will have show "Connecting" at the bottom of the window, and then it should eventually recognize that software needs to be releases onto it.
