Can't open Sample Music folder or see track in Library

iPhoto 6.0.6
1. Selected a slideshow from the Source pane.
2. Clicked on the Music icon, on the right side, on lower tool bar.
3. A menu drops down with a Sample Music folder first on the list.
Followed by Garage Band and iTunes. Play music during slideshow is checked.
4. Select Sample Music, 11 items appears next to the Search window.
5. Select Play icon next to search window and a guitar selection plays.
6. How can I see the list of 11 sample songs to make a selection other than that guitar song?
7. Click on Library under iTunes.
8. 133 items appears next to the search box.
9. Can't figure out how to see the tracks in the Library.
All the Playlists appear and are selectable.
10. Double clicking on Sample Music or Library has no effect.
What am I not understanding about selecting a song to play with a slideshow?

In the Music pane there should be a dimple at the bottom of the window where you see the albums, etc. Click and drag it up to open the pane where the individual tracks can be viewed.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Sample Music folder empty

In Iphoto 6 slideshows, I had sample music to choose from. I had slideshows set up using that music. I deleted one of my slideshows and when I go into any remaining slideshows, or create a new one there are no items to choose from in my sample music folder. My old slideshows use the music that was selected when they were created, but there is no music listed in the sample music folder. I see the folder icon, but it appears to be empty. Is there a way to reload the sample music folder with the original default music? I looked in the trash and it is not there. I tried closing and reopening iphoto and no luck. Any suggestions?

Your hardri've may be failing. Did you do the Cleanup.Reboot on the player? If you haven't do so. Also be aware that you may not be able to retrieve the files on there. You can find how to access Recovery Mode for the cleanup here & don't meddle with the firmware option

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):
Operating System
Default location of iTunes library
Microsoft Windows XP
\Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Vista
\Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows 7
\Users\[your username]\My Music\iTunes\
... and open the iTunes library you find in there.

Itunes can't find my music folder

I can't install Itunes....it downloads fine from the exe file but when i try to open itunes it gives me the error msg that it can't find My Music folder. I went to the support page and it told me that if i couldn't find My Music folder to create one in My documents and download/install Tweak UI. I did and followed all the steps except when it asks me to click on My computer, then special folder and can't find the My Music folder to move it. I am using Windows XP....Please help. Has anyone ever had this problems?

it's stupid, you have to hold down the shift key while you open iTunes (don't just hold it while you click, keep holding it until iTunes actually shows the library dialog).

when I open a music folder in finder, to play the songs of that folder in iTunes. It creates automaticly a new folder of unknown artist with those songs, on my desktop. how can this happen? This happens om my mothers macbook pro. on my macbook I don't have this problem.

Solved this problem all on my own, with a little help from the Philippine Macintosh Users Group.
All you have to do is go to Settings / General / Reset
and then in reset menu select Erase all Content and settings.
Your sms will now work fine. However if you again connect to Itunes it will recognize your phone and ask u if u want to restore data from back-up. Dont do this as it will bring the problem back. Instead, install it as a new phone, and then put back all your contacts, photos, music etc from your comp.

That's what I'm confused about. I did exactly what you said. I copied the entire music folder from the old computer and put it in the music folder on the new computer. I've tried that two or three times now. And, I've checked, and all of the files are there (that's what I meant by 'clicking on Itunes Media'--when I click on the iTunes media folder in music/itunes in Finder, all of the files are there). But, when I open iTunes, nothing shows up--no movies, no music, no tv shows. It seems like it should be so simple, but it won't work for me.

I can't open Itunes music store - error message

I can't open itunes music store. I tried downloading the new apple itunes updates, but my computer says that the updates have an invalid signature. My computer won't let me install the new itunes or apple quicktime to my computer. Can somebody help me?

In the File I/O>>Advanced File Functions Palette is a function named "List directory". This function will give you two arrays. One contains the names of all subdirectories the other the names of all files. If you want to sort them by name use the array sort function. If you want to sort them by another attribute use the File/Directory Info function to get more data. Use a cluster which contains the attribut to sort and the original index of the name. Then sort this array.

Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Want to use copy of music folder as original for itunes library

Had my iTunes music folder located on an external hd 1 that recently failed. Had recently made a copy of that music folder on a separate external hd 2. My question is can i plug in my external hd 2 with that music folder copy, open iTunes, and when it asks for the location of the music folder can i just point it to the external hd 2 music folder and have the iTunes library use that location instead? Will it keep all my same playlists, album covers, library ect. all the way it was before but just grab the music from a different location? Want to know before i try it and mess up the library I've got going on. I've done a lot of work installing album covers I couldn't find and lots of ratings that I don't want to loose. Thanks for any help in this situation.

Then the first thing you should do is to backup your iTunes folder (i.e. all the components except the iTunes Music folder, which you should also back up at some point in case history repeats itself).
The worst thing that could happen is that the links between the iTunes Library file and the copied music folder are broken so you would see ! against all your tracks. If that happens you could try pointing towards the copied music folder using the iTunes Preferences. Hopefully that won't happen - if the file path names that are in the iTunes Library file are actually there in reality (even though the physical drive is actually different), then iTunes may not even 'know' that anything has changed.
The fact is, your Library still exists and was not corrupted by the crash. Your music still exists as you had a backup copy. It's just a matter of marrying the two together. If what I suggested doesn't work there are other things we could try.

go to the directory where the itunes librairy is stored (google search!). Select the file hit "command+i" on your keyboard or control click on the file and select get info. there is an option to either lock or ulock the file. unlock it. restart your computer and see if it works.

There are two libraries. One is System one is your User account.
InputManagers folder is in the system library.
Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder. The Input Managers folder is in there.
I think you are looking in your "users folder" which you can access in the same Finder window by selecting your user account (it has a small house icon).

If you think you have the Community Toolbar installed you need to check these folders.
/Library/Application Support/ Move the Conduit file to the Trash.
/Library/Application Support/ Move all of these files to the Trash: SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
/Library/InputManagers/ Move CTLoader to the Trash.
/Library/Receipts/ Move ctloader.pkg to the Trash.
/Library/ScriptingAdditions/ Move any Conduit / CTLoader related files in that folder to the Trash.
/Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/ Move Conduit to the Trash.
