A few minutes later I wanted to open it but to my big surprise there were no Photoshop file . There was only a thing that says it`s type is file but I can`t open it in Photoshop . When I try to open it it says " Couldn`t complete your request because it is not the right kind of document . Is it possible to open it somehow ? Please help me I have to give the project over tomorrow and there is no time to start over .
Sorry for my English .

I would try Open As, and see if it's a tiff, psd, or other format.
If the file's not too big, put it up on a server and some of us can try to
open it. Or email it to me mike - at - curvemeister.com
Meantime, put on a new pot of coffee and start doing the work over again.
All of us wind up doing redos for one reason or another, and you'll be
surprised how fast it goes the second time.

  • Big Keynote Problem - can't open saved file

    Hello
After spending a whole morning working on a presentation, Keynote '08 suddenly quit, with the normal message. Now the file I was working on will not open, no matter what computer (we have three in the office) or what I do. I have searched through these and other forums looking for help, and have tried everything I've come across (opening the package, deleting .plist, etc) but still no joy.
Keynote can open every other file I've created in the past without issue. I'm not sure if it affects anything, but this file was a ppt file which I opening in Keynote and edited, then resaved as a Keynote file.
If anyone could help it would much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I saved web page as html file, but can't open saved file as web page

I did a FILE, SAVE PAGE AS, then chose 'WEB PAGE COMPLETE' - and a directory is created on my hard drive - with the directory name, for example - "c:\....\Ask a Question _ Mozilla Support.htm". (for this web page).
When I try to open the saved web page from Firefox, using FILE, OPEN, I see a new window that looks like a file manager window, I then select that saved .html file and click OPEN, and a new window opens that looks like file manager - displaying with all the files in that directory - "Ask a Question _ Mozilla Support.htm". That is, it does not open and dislpay the web page as I expect it should (that I saved earlier).
However, if I go to the file manager, I can see that directory is saved, and has the Windows Explorer icon associated with the directory "ask a question ....html", and also has a file type of HTML listed. If I double click that directory in file manager, Windows Explorer will open that directory and dis[play it as a web page, as I expected.
I would like to know why Firefox does not open the directory name as a web page from the FILE, OPEN command, but instead shows me the directory contents(all the files in that directory)?
BTW, if I try FILE, OPEN, using Windows Explorer the same thing happens - it opens a new window listing all the files in that directory.
Is this the way the FILE, OPEN is supposed to work?
It seems confusing, because if I am in any other program, for example WinWord, and do a FILE, OPEN command on a Word file, it opens the file as a Word Document - it does not just show the file in a "file manager window.
But when I click FILE, OPEN on an HTML file(directory using Firefox, it does not open that html directory as a web page?

I am in the Windows Explorer 'Details' view, and I see the folder with 'Type' of FILE FOLDER. In that folder are all the .js and .css and .png files - as cor-el said.
''But now I also see'' that there is also an htm file - ''with the exact same name ''as the folder, but it has a 'Type' of 'HTML Document'. When I have Firefox do a File, Open on the HTML Document - it does open the web page that I saved and does display it as a web page.
I did not realize that Firefox saves both:
    1) a Directory '''(Type 'File Folder') '''''', and,
    2) an html file''' (Type 'HTML Document')
... '''and that they are the exact same names! '''
I was clicking on the wrong one! Instead of clicking in the .html file, I was incorrectly clicking on the folder!
(The archive add on looks interesting, but shouldn't I be able to open the saved web page, from the browser, using File, Open File) ?

    Hi, all,
I save the incoming emails using JavaMail API. The files are successfully created, their content is readable(html-like). However they cannot be opened with Outlook. The following error occurs:

    Any ideas?

  • Can't open saved file

I saved a pages file on a Crucial Gizmo! USB flash drive and when I tried to open it today it only shows a Preview page but not the file itself.
I hope I didn't waste fours of work. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hello
I assumes that DennisG's responce was the correct one.
Having sufficient space on a device to store a Pages document is not a guarantee to be able to open it.
The opening process implies the unpacking of a huge XML file containing your document's description.
It seems that you met this limit.
Moving the beast on the HD will give the needed space for the unpacking process.

  • Opening saved files

can not open saved files on my desktop with new reader

    Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
    Mac HD/Applications
    Trash the Adobe Reader app
    Empty the trash.
Download the FULL installer and reinstall Reader: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Launch Reader and accept the license agreement.
You will now be able to download and open PDFs.
Note: the files which say "damaged" are just that. You'll need to trash them, as they cannot be repaired.

  • Can't open iWork files saved to iCloud

I've updated my MBP to Mtn Lion and subsequently my iWork to latest versions. However when I attempt to open any files stored on iCloud via the Open dialog window, it states "The document “XXXX.numbers” could not be opened."; does not matter if it's Numbers, Pages or Keynote.
I can move files saved on my MBP to iCloud and the files are stored properly. I can then open the files w/ my iPad or iPhone versions of iWork apps, no problem. I can even download from iCloud the saved files back to my MacBook Pro and the files open properly. I just can't open files from iCloud.
Is this not a feature (yet) of iCloud to open directly from the iWork program files stored on iCloud; meaning, I need to download it back to my computer first before working w/ the file?

Yes, I saw that earlier but it seems to be a temporary fix. I had the same issue return 2 weeks ago, then again yesterday. Each time, I've tried this solution which works but only to see it return at some time in the near future.
Coincidently, I have a similar issue occur on my iPhone 4S w/ iOS 6. There, my keyboard shortcuts won't work in forms unless I tick off Data and Documents iCloud setting, power down the phone, then turn it back on. But like this, it only seems to work for a temporary time and the problem resurfaces in a few days.

  • Can't open saved Illustrator file

    Hi Adobe Community,
I just recemtly installed Adobe CS4 on my work pc and it works perfectly except for one problem that I noticed when saving a document.
The saved file doesn't have a default program listed to open it and has an icon as such: .
Fortunately I'm able to open it when I open it through ilustrator but I want to get the saved files to open when you click them.
    Thank you.

What are you saving them as?  For instance, Save As > EPS or Save As > Illustrator Document?  When saving, make sure you have "Preview" selected in the Save dialog box. The image you show looks like a "Preview" problem.  You say you can't open the file, yet you can in Illustrator!  Also, take a look through your Preferences and see if you can select Preview there ( can't recall if you can or not ).  You might also try some maintenance routines on your machine.  You never know what could crop up when you do some maintenance ( on a Mac, you can check Permissions, not sure what you have available for your PC ) and OS ( operating system ).  Hope this helps.

  • Can't open .msg files more then once, saved or as an attachment to an email

    we use :
    microsoft xp & office/outlook 2003
can't open .msg files more then once, saved or as an attachment to an email
If we save an email as a outlook.msg file , we can only open it once, close it,
when trying to open it again it gives an error that it is not possible due to a scurity issue or it is already open.
After closing outlook and starting it again, we can open it once again.
Same when clicking an .msg that is attached to an email, but here we can switch to another email, go back to the one and open it again.
We have installed all updates for both xp and office 2003 also internet explorer 8.0 to test if that would work, normally we have ie7.0.

    Hi,
    1.  What is the detail error information, please try to reproduce the issue and then post the detail error information here.
    2.  Did you save the msg file locally or on a network drive?
    3.  Please try to check security on the msg file and also check the drive NTFS permission.
    4.  Copy over the email messages from the affected user machine to a different machine and check if the issue persist.
    5.  Test if the issue persist after saving a new email on Mailbox to local drives.
    6.  Copy over the affected email messages from local drive to a PST file and check if these emails can be opened fine.
    1)    Create a new PST file .
    2)    Added to user’s Outlook profiles.
    3)    Launch Outlook .
    4)    Highlight a folder under this PST.
    5)    Drag and drop or copy/paste the emails from local drive to Folder highlighted under the PST files.
Besides, please try to remove all the add-ins like Entrust and then test the issue again.
    1.     Remove add-ins
    1)    Uncheck all Third-Party Add-ins selected in Outlook , found under Tool\Options\Other\Add-ins managers.
    2)    Export the registry hive below for backup.
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook \Addins
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook \Addins
    3)    Delete the registry entries under the above path for all Third-Party Add-ins.
    4)    Close , Open Outlook and attempt to open email message on local drives.
    2.     Temporarily stop all third-party application running following the steps
    below.
    1)    Run MSCONFIG
    2)    Go to Services Tab\Select Hide all Microsoft Services check box.
    3)    Click Disable All.
    4)    Restart the Machine Test if the issue persist.
    5)    To revert back the above setting Run MSCONFIG, Go to General Tab , Select Normal
    Startup and restarted the machine.

    Xiu
1 Translated from dutch as good as i know :
"Can't open : c:\test.msg, it might not exist, do you have the required permission to open the file or is it open in another application. Click
with the right mousebutton on the map click properties to view/check the rights for that map."
2 tried both, the network and locally, i have the rights to save it in the map and open it once, so thats not the problem, iseems that outlook locks the file after it is openen once.
3 security and ntfs permissions are ok, see 2
4 tried it from different pc's networks maps etc.
    5 done.
6 in a pst file the msg can be openen ore than once, but thats not the problem, tried and this works, but i need to save an email as an .msg file.
7 addins removed and doen all of that part, didn't help.
    We also have tried:
    -Installing all updates and ie8
-going back to xp sp2 (fresh install of xp)
Only thing that did work was an msg file attached to an email, we couldn't open that more then once,
but after  checking "Use exchange modus with cache" at the account properties we could open that more than once.
Now we need to be able to open the email's saved as .msg more then 1 time.

I can't open pages files from USB and iCloud due to : "The necessary file index.xml is missing". Original file is written on iMac (2014) and saved to an USB stick and then transferred till macBook Pro (2009, Yosemite) for editing. Then I shared the files by iCloud but I am not able to open them on iMac again. Niether can I use the USB stick to transfer the edited files back. I'm running Pages '09 4,1 (923) on the macBook and Pges 5.5.2 (2120) on the iMac.
    Håkan

Pages 5.5.2 is extremely incompatible with even other Macs let alone the vast majority of PC and MsWord users out there, so not a good idea to leap into the fire with both eyes shut.
After having done that to the first Pages 5 files, Apple has repeatedly done it to even the most minor point updates. Apple can't even anticipate its own erratic changes let alone what everyone else needs doing.

  • Error message: "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg files"

    I'm using DW 8, and I have installed the 8.0.2 update. I'm
having trouble inserting certain JPG images into a site. I get an
error message pop-up that states "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg
files". It will allow me to insert some jpg files, but not all of
them. I've tried drag & drop and going through the Insert menu.
The files are not large at all. Doesn't appear to be any problem
with png's or gif's. It's incredibly frustrating. Anyone have any
    suggestions? TIA.

    > why was i taught that all my web images need
    > to be in 72dpi if it doesn't really matter?
most people suggest 72 because it was an old standard with
    the early
macintosh DTP programs. For web use it's easier to
    standardize on it because
when you make an image, you have to put ~some~ number in the
    resolution box
and it might as well be 72 as any other number. It simplifies
    moving image
files around in different applications if they are all the
    same resolution.
For display in a browser, these will all have the same file
    size and display
    size in a web page:
    600x600 pixels at 1dpi
    600x600 pixels at 72dpi
    600x600 pixels at 6000dpi
It's when they are used in other applications or when a
    direct url like
/photos/1.jpg is printed out that they may display in the
    resolution, not
    the pixel dimension.
I came across a page once where the designer always saved his
    images with a
resolution of 6000 dpi or some other odd number because he
    thought that if
people dragged the image off the page to save it- most of
    them wouldn't be
able to resize it. or some other idiot reason maybe.

  • Error while opening pdf in reader in windows 8:Can't open this file. There's a problem with file format

I have a problem with a pdf file which does not open with reader in windows 8 but it opens properly with adobe pdf reader. All other pdf can be opened in reader. But when i open a pdf(see this link for pdf for which i got error http://incometaxsoft.com/temp/Form.pdf)
it gives error as "Can't open this file. There's a problem with file format".
The same file opens properly in adobe pdf reader. You can check the pdf file which i have mentioned in the link above. But the reader which comes with windows 8 can open some other pdf in the same PC.What may be the error causing this??

This has turned out to be an enormous issue for me as I sell PDF files as ebooks. I have done a fair amount of investigating this for my system.
My files have to be compatible not just across readers but across operating systems.
To date, I have over 200 PDFs that have functioned flawlessly across Mac, PC (Windows 7 and below), Android, iPhone/iPad, Linux.
I personally test my PDFs using a variety of readers and PDF editors including
    PDF XChange (my favorite)
Foxit (runner up for me and I recommend for most people)
    Adobe (the bloated monster)
Nitro 9 (great for moving graphical elements around)
    ABBYY
And the Nuance PDF Create toolsets
Those are off the top of my head. There are a bunch on Android that I test with too.
I am running the Windows 10 Pro Tech Preview and I have this same problem so I know it isn't fixed yet in any kind of pre-release way (-sigh-)
Here is what I've learned for my situation
The PDFs I created using NUANCE'S PDF CREATE PROFESSIONAL VERSION 8
all fail using the built-in Windows 8/10 PDF reader.
When I look at the PDF properties for these Nuance created files, the underlying engine used to write them is called "ImageToPDF". Using ABBYY it indicates their own engine as does everyone else that I've tried. It is easy for you to check to see
what created your PDF by doing a "Control D" (look at the document properties). Perhaps there's a common engine causing issues.
If I use the exact same source files to create a PDF using any of my other tools I have no issues. I checked the PDF versions made by the tools and they are all set to 1.5.
A customer mentioned being able to convert them in a way they worked by saving them without having to do any kind of extraction, but I have not been able to duplicate that. Perhaps he did a "print" which seems like it could work.
In summary, the workaround everyone is talking about, using an alternate reader, of course works. But not everyone wants to change.
The culprit I have found is my Nuance PDF Creation tools that are using the ImageToPDF engine.
I hope it gets FIXED as I really don't want to have to regenerate all of my PDF files.

  • Some users can't open Excel files. It is trying to open it in Internet Explorer "An error has occurred. Please try again."

I have some users in my company that can't open Excel files from any document libraries on SharePoint 2010. The receive the error message "An error occurred. Please try again."  We don't currently use the Excel calculations services. When
a user opens an excel file they are prompted to either Read Only or Edit.
This affects less than 5 people in a large company.  They have the Full Control permissions and have been able to open the files previously.  There has been no changes made to the server either.  I can't find anything that points to this in the
    event viewer.
It doesn't matter if which computer that they try to open this up from either.   All computers are Windows 7 Professional with IE 9 and Office 2010 x64.
I can't find anything that points specifically to this exact error. None of the excel files contain pivot tables.    This one has me stumped.

I would make sure no one has open on machine / locked on machine (Would assume you checked this, but wanted to add)
Also would have assumed you restarted the machines (:))
Make sure the file security did not change (check to ensure no one changed the sercuity of the excel)
Make sure the version of excel is the same (Changing from 2010 back to 2007 affects the file, etc.. on convert) that no one converted and saved thus causing error in file.
Can they open other excel files?
It sounds like the excel file it self has changed if you cannot see issue in SharePoint logs.
If it is all SharePoint excel files - try deleting one persons access and readding them to see if that helps.
    SharePoint has issues ;)

When I look at the business card file with finder it says it was created with InDesign 5.5. When I view my InDesign application through my finder applications it says I have InDesign 5.5 so I'm not sure why this error message is saying to upgrade my version of InDesign.

I wish I had a dollar for every person who claimed there was no way a file was saved in a later version only to find out it was.
If you post a link to it someone here will save it back for you.
