Can't open scarlett plug-in suit in logic

I jost bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 . It came with a "Scarlett plug-in suit". The 2i2 works as it should, but when i install the plug-in suit i can't find it in Logic pro. The user guide says that in order to activate the plug-ins i should open one of the plug-ins in the same manner as i would open any other VST or AU plug-ins - I just can't find them!
what do i do? I'm still new to logic, so any help is much appreciated

If the plugins are installed and validated they should show up under the Audio Units Manager as successfully validated. If not, you will have to validate them and try again. Plugins must appear in this window as validated in order for Logic to display them. You can access the Audio Units Manager by going to "Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio Units Manager", click the "Reset & Rescan Selection" button to rescan your pluggins.
Also, all third party plugins are located under the Audio Units menu (located at the bottom) in the plugin pop up menu.

Can't Open PDF Plug-in Installer for Firefox on Macintosh

When I first clicked on the dmg, it asked me to choose an application to open it. Most applications were grayed out but Adobe Reader was not, so I chose that, but then I got the message: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I tried deleting the acrobat_ittools_ff_p1_011012 folder and starting over several times. Now whenever I click on the dmg it doesn't even ask what I want to open it with - it just tells me it will open with Adobe Reader and I get the same result: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I tried Preview, but that didn't get me anything - not even an error message. Is there some other way to open the dmg?

I found a fix. I didn't need the Adobe PDF Viewer FF plugin after all. I deleted the regular Adobe PDF Viewer plugin from the Library and reinstalled Adobe Reader without deleting the old one. Now FireFox gives me a a window that asks me if I want to download the PDF.

Can't open Java Plug-in 1.3.1_01 control panel

Click on the Java Plug-in icon, my cursor turns into an hour glass for a few seconds, a javaw.exe process starts on my Windows2000 Pro Task Manager, but the Java Control Panel never appears.
Also click on other java icons and the same thing happens (a javaw.exe process starts but not window appears).
Same thing happens with 1.4.1_01.
Any ideas on what could cause this?

Can't open a garage band song in logic express trial

I've been thinking about getting logic express, but I wanted to try the trail version first. When I try to open any of my garageband songs in logic it says, "Damaged Song or not a logic express song! Damaged songs might create problems and crashes!" After that box it says, "Rad Error! This is not a Logic Express song!" I would appreciate any advice on how I might fix this problem.

I'm not using a different user account than previously, and haven't moved anything. That said, I was able to solve the problem. Here's what I did:
1. Right-click and select GET INFO
2. In the INFO window, open the SHARING & PERMISSIONS panel at the bottom
3. In the lower right corner, click the LOCK to change it to UNLOCKED
4. In the pop-up PASSWORD window, enter your MAC password. The LOCK changes to UNLOCKED.
5. Click the PLUS SIGN lower left, choose the appropriate Person or User/Group (me) and click SELECT
6. The name gets added to the bottom of the GET INFO window, but with “Read only” permission
7. Click the “Read Only” selection and change to “Read & Write”
PARTIAL SUCCESS: The PROHIBIT badge is gone from the file, and instead of showing ZERO bytes, it now shows XXMB — for example, 32MB.
HOWEVER, when I tried to open the file, I got the message, “Your file has no content”.
TOTAL SUCCESS: I discovered that I had to go back a level, click on the FOLDER that contained my prohibited songs, and follow the same instructions 1-7 above. Now, at last, I can access my files in the new GarageBand!

Can't open or start new projects in Logic after updating to Snow Leopard

I've been having a few problems with Logic 9 since updating to Snow Leopard (10.6.8 ) a couple of days ago.
Every time i click on "new" and try and start a new project - logic freezes and i get the rotating circle sign and Logic stops responding - eventually i need to force quit and start again.
Existing projects seem to be functioning fine, although slightly slower than before.
Does anyone have any fixes for this?! Not being able to start a new project is quite a big problem!

The mistake was trusting only TimeMachine as your backup/restore.
If you had your users files also backed up to a external storage drive, or used a bootable clone (since they can be directly accessed) then you could have recovered just your files.
This is what I suggest you do since TM apprantly botched things.
1: Visit my user tip here and attempt to fix Snow Leopard in place, the purpose here is to get a booing machine so you can use a working Admin account to copy the user folder containing your files to a regular external drive.
I suggest #8 and #6, this will reinstall OS X over itself to fix it, then reset the User Password so you can hopefully log in.

2: This method will also work, you install Snow Leopard onto a extenral drive and boot from it. This is probally a more safer choice than above, it's certainly less work, but it needs a blank external powered drive.
.Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
3: Once a copy of your users files is off, then your free to revert your machine back to Snow Leopard.
The ENTIRE drive must be selected and erased, to set the GUID, erase the RecoveryHD and EFI partitions.

Can you open the file using File > Open... and navigation to where you saved it? If it's saved on a network share, will it open if you copy it to the desktop?

This is expected. CS4 will never be able to open files from a current version of LR and a modern camera.

The G15 was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3 (ACR7.3). ACR is the plugin which handles Raw files.

ACR 7.3 is only compatible with Elements 11 (or later) and CS6 (or later). Not Elements 9 or CS5 unfortunately.

Sounds like you opened and saved it in CC, so now you need to go back to CC and either complete the project there, or export to IDML to take it back into CS6.

It appears that my files and .xmp are 4.0 just by searching for 'Camera Raw' either 4. or 4.6 in spotlight. nothing is listed in spotlight under camera raw 4.6, but all my images are listed in the spotlight if I search for camera raw 4.0! I can not open either in Bridge or Photoshop CS3 I just receive the error message 'could not complete this request because photoshop does not reconize this type of file'. any help would this is greatfully appreciated. Well if you have a fairly new Nikon camera PS CS3 will not have the proper version of ACR to support that camera.
You could use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the NEF files to DNGs or you can update PS to a newer version that does have support for newer cameras or you could buy Adobe Lightroom V4 which also has support for the newer Nikon cameras.

Exactly what did you do?
The correct steps are
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
My guess is that that you have not switched iphoto to use the external drive yet - opttion launch and select libary

I created a business card for my husband from my indesign 5.5 version. I haven't upgraded my version since creating the file and for some reason I can't open the file. I get the error message 'Cannot open "Business Card - Ryan.indd". Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.'
When I look at the business card file with finder it says it was created with InDesign 5.5. When I view my InDesign application through my finder applications it says I have InDesign 5.5 so I'm not sure why this error message is saying to upgrade my version of InDesign.

I wish I had a dollar for every person who claimed there was no way a file was saved in a later version only to find out it was.
