Can't open several apps in my Macbook Pro???

For example: App Store, Photo Booth, Calender, ect. What can I do to fix it?

DId the reboot solve it? Someone else may have a better idea, but I'd suggest the following:
Reset the PRAM:
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222
Reset the SMC:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
If those don't work, I'd back everything up then reboot holding down the Command and R keys. That'll take you into the Recovery partition. You should be able to install Mavericks on top of the exisiting installation, though you may have to install the update again. This shouldn't affect your exisiting stuff, but have a backup just in case.

  • Hello, i can't open any apps on my macbook air or install any app

Hello, i can't open any apps on my macbook air. when i am attempting it says "you may need to reinstall app but when i am trying to reinstall it doesn't do anything. i can only browse right now. It happened right after when i deleted some files i was trying to uninstall the useless app and i think i accidently deleted some system files. Right now it is letting me to download the app but i cannot install any of the app or even open any application. please help

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

  • Can't open Skype at all on Macbook Pro

I have been struggling with Skype for a long time on my Macbook Pro and wondered if anyone has any advice. When I try to open the application, it crashes immediately before I can even log in. This has been the behaviour for several versions of Skype now, so I am starting to think there is something on my machine which conflicts with it and the problem will not be solved by waiting for a future release of Skype.
Currently it is failing with version 6.0.60.2496 of Skype (downloaded today) on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.8.2. The machine is a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM, purchased in 2009. Exactly the same problem occurred in Lion, before I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I have tried a number of steps to solve the problem, including:
    * Removing the /skype folder from /Library/Application Support and the preference file from Preferences, uninstalling Skype, restarting in Safe Mode, downloading it again, installing and trying to open it
    * Changing the settings in Text to Speech to a different voice
    * Downloading an older version of Skype and trying to run that
Everything crashes instantly every time and I am unable to use Skype at all.
Skype support have told me there's nothing further they can suggest and they think it may be a conflict with my System fonts, but I am desperate for any advice from someone who has encountered (and hopefully solved!) a similar problem.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Hi Katherine,
You'll need to save it to a different format to use it on a Mac. If you can still open them on the HP, that would probably be the easiest. Save them as a Mac compatible format such as .mpg. If that doesn't work, here is a converter you can try: http://www.squared5.com/

  • I can't purchase any apps on my macbook pro

I recently purchased a Macbook pro and have been unable to purchase apps from the store.  I can DL free ones but cant even purchase a 99 cent app.  I keep getting an error code (100) and then a security update message.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Apple/Itunes support has thus far has not been able to get me up and running.

Try deleting the App Store cache and cookies...
Quit the App Store first if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/pasted:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
    Now type or copy/paste:   ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.

  • Can't Open Videos From Camcorder on Macbook Pro

I recently moved several videos from my camcorder to my desktop.  The file extension is .MOD and I can't figure out how to open them on my laptop.  I had no problem opening and viewing them on my HP desktop but am having no success on my Mac.  I am fairly new to Macs so this could be a very basic fix that I'm not aware of.  Any directions/suggestions woudl be appreciated.

  • Why can't I access app store on macbook pro?

I recently re-installed Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro, and now when I click software update, I am being told I can't access the App Store because I don't have an Internet connection.  How can I fix this?

    Hi russraman,
I've been having that issue off and on lately, but I'm certain it's my cable provider and not my Mac. You probably see the Wifi indicator with an "!" in the middle of it? It means that the Wifi was able to get onto the network, but not to make an internet connection because of a bad IP address.
So, to resolve my issue, I have to reboot my router. Give that a try to see if it clears it up for you.
    Cheers,

    Help!
    Thanks

Hard to say what's going on here. Open Disk Utility and check to see if SMART is verified. Also verify the disk. If problems are found, boot from your install disc and repair your boot disk.
One possibility is that your hard drive might be starting to fail. If you don't already have a good backup of your data, be sure and make one just in case. If the hard drive is failing, it will need to be replaced.
Another possibility is that the OS has become corrupted. If so, you will need to reinstall it. However, check out the hard drive first--if it's failing, it won't do any good to reinstall the OS, and you may not even be able to. Better to rescue your data first.
    Good luck!
