Can't open the built in email app

Hi there,
This morning I got an email message into my gmail account which is linked to my iPhone. After reading I wanted to write a reply to the sender. I selected the reply tab but the app quitted and ever since I can't open it.
Now whenever I am hitting the MAIL icon, I can only see an empty white screen for a while and after a few seconds the home screen again. I suppose the broblem might be that there were more than 300 recipients in the header and I selected the "reply to all" function (how idiot I was:)...now it seems to be stuck.
The soutions I have tried and didn't work:
press the home button twice and close the app
login to my gmail account in an other computer and delete the email (I couldn't even found the draft)
resetting the network connections
resetting the device (press and hold the power and home button at the same time)
send an email to myself and when it appears in the lock screen, swipe on it to be able to handle it directly - the empty white screen again
Any tips are highly appreciated...:)
Thanks in advance!

It says requirements are an iOS device with iBooks 1.3.1 or later and iOS 4.3.3 or later. I have a 4s with the latest software update (7.0.4) and plenty of capacity. Thanks for your help though! Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

  • You can't open the application "System Preferences.app" because it is not supported on this type of Mac

All of the sudden my System Preferences in Mavericks has stopped working and I get the error message:
You can't open the application "System Preferences.app" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.
It was working fine before this, and I have run Permissions Repair, restarted to another partition and run Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro, but none of those has helped. Anyone have any ideas why this happened, and what I can do to fix it?

  • After installing Maverick, my downloaded movies will not play in Quick Time.  It gives me the following error "You can't open the application "QuickTime Player.app" because it may be damaged or incomplete."  What can I do?

After installing Maverick, my downloaded movies will not play in Quick Time.  I receive the following error message:
You can’t open the application “QuickTime Player.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete.  So I tried to unistall QT and I get an error that says, You can not delete this application as it is a requirement for the OSX.
Well I did find a way to delete it, by going into the various components and one by one deleting it.  Now I reinstall it and  the message is that this Quick Time is for an earlier version before Maverick 7.  SMH....Now what.?

The only viable solution is to upgrade to the latest versions of the PPC legacy software that will run under Mavericks.
Except for the other viable solution:
If you are unable or unwilling to upgrade to a version of Filemaker that runs natively under Mavercks, you can run your existing version of Filemaker by installing Snow Leopard Server into Parallels:

  • Cannot get Yahoo email with the built-in email app from within my company's network

    Hello,
From within my company's network, I can get Yahoo email if I use the Yahoo email app but not if I use the iPhone built-in email app (iPhone 5 and iPad 4 both running iOS 7.1.2). Any idea what may be going on?
Could it be that the two apps use different ports to get email (and one port happens to be blocked by the company's firewall/proxy)? If yes, anyone knows what these ports may be?
    Thank you in advance

That's entirely possible. Talk to your IT department about it. Attempting to bypass their security and potentially violating their security policy may not be good for your career.

  • You can't open the application "iAd Producer.app" because it may be damaged or incomplete.

After installing Itunes Producer when I try to open I get this message: “iAd Producer.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete.
    Whats the problem?
    Thanks
    Josef

    Hi,
Just for clarification.  Did you have iAd Producer already installed on your system?  If so, which version? Then you installed iTunes Producer?  And when you launch iTunes Producer, you get a message saying that iAd Producer is damaged/incomplete?
    Thanks,

  • I have just been trying to scan a document and it says: You can't open the application "EPSON Scan.app" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.

    Hello
I seem to be having trouble with my scanner and my MAC.  Nothing has changed on my MAC but my scanner refuses to scan.  And a couple of other items tell me that they are incompatable with my MAC.  Any thoughts?
    thanks
    Bev

    Bev,
Unfortunatley you have not provided any useful information other than your Epson app will not run. I would recommend using Image Capture which is pre-installed on your computer.
To help us help you going forward please complete your profile so we know some basics about your system. You can find info on how to update your profile by clicking:

  • Can't open the application "EPSON Scan.app"

I have an iMac running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1, connected by USB wire to an Epson WF-3540 All-in-One. Under Mountain Lion, all of the Epson’s functions worked by clicking on the Epson icon.  Subsequent to the Mavericks update, the Epson programs, particularly the scanner, do not work, because in Mavericks "PowerPC applications are no longer supported".  The option to use the iMac image scanner is not satisfactory for me.  I do much scanning, and the image capture creates “.jpeg” files.  A one-page .jpeg file is usually 2.1MB, while the Epson creates “.pdf” files that are generally less than 200KB.
I would appreciate a solution that will make the Epson icons work in Mavericks.
    Thank you
    Drew

To get your Epson WF-3540 All-in-One Printer operating, please download  and install the following  drivers in that order:
Epson Drivers and Utilities Combo Package : epson14892.dmg
Epson Scanner Driver and Epson Scan Utility v3.7.9.4 : epson15974.dmg
Epson Remote Printer Driver v9.17: epson15661.dmg
Once this process is completed, try scanning and printing with your Epson WF-3540 All-in-One printer.

  • Can I open the Mail app without configuration an email address?

I'm trying to open a .eml file, which seems possible in the Mail app.  However, I can't open the Mail app without configuration an email account.  I don't have an email account to configure; just want to open the file.  Or, let's suppose, I just wanted to browse the interface?  How to avoid the account setup part?

Just enter anything short & plausible in as few fields as you can get away with : '[email protected]' works here, you'll get a brief 'not responding' or such at each stage, but it does allow you to use Mail.

  • I CAN'T OPEN THE "CONTACTS" APP

    Hello,
Since I bought my iPad2 I can't open the "Contacts" app, when I try to open it just closes.

I just updated the software for the iOS 5.1, but the problem continues.
    Could you help me?

Hello King_Penguin, I tried to do it, but when I toggle the contacts "on" and merge it on iCloud, it returns automatically to "off" and exits the screen.

  • Can't open the application "Adobe Illustrator CS6.app" because it is not supported...

UPDATE - Ahhh haaaa!  If I log in with the guest account Illustrator works fine! WTF!? Oh well, at least I have a direction to be working towards, thanks for all the suggestions and assistance Adobe Community!
That was sarcasm by the way...
UPDATE - Just installed the latest Illustrator update from Adobe - still not loading. Tried reseting the iMac's PRAM, no luck.
UPDATE - I've just reinstalled the whole CS6 Suite, and the only things that have changed are that I now have a little white no entry sign over Illustrator (it still won't load) and I also have 1.5GB of application updates to do
I don't have any direct evidence but I'm guessing this is a Mavericks incompatibility judging by the other issues people are having with Illustrator. Any suggestions are welcome!
I've been using CS6 on my iMac for the past year (3.2GHz Intel Core i5, 32GB ram).  Everything running fine, no problems.
Then I get the popup from Apple saying to upgrade to Mavericks, so I did. After updating my Java version, for the next two weeks everything carried on running fine. Until just now.
    I finished working on an Illustrator file, saved it and then exited, only to remember I needed to make one more small change. So I clicked on the AI icon and got this error message;
'You can’t open the application “Adobe Illustrator CS6.app” because it is not supported on this type of Mac.' Eh???
I tried doing a reboot thinking that maybe something had just gone wonkey and needed resetting. Still no luck. So I reinstalled Java again. Nope. Then I tried every other CS6 app and they all ran fine.
Does anyone know what could cause Illustrator CS6 to be working fine for weeks and then suddenly become an unsupported app? These things always happen with you're right up against a deadline! I NEED ILLUSTRATOR WORKING NOW! HEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPP!
    James

I had the same issue and resolved it
I first remove the prefs folder and the plist files for illustrator in ~/Libary
    next I logged off,
then I uninstalled illustrator using the adobe uninstaller(http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html)
    Next I reinstall illstrator
after that it worked for me.

    Hello Mats in Sweden!
I'm from Austria, not so far away! The file that you've received seems to be a Windows Media File and you may need a special software for your iPad to be able to open it. I've found something HERE.
If you open this link on your iPad it should take you to the App Store, resp. open it. The price for this app is 1,59 €.
